I have supported DCS with purchases of all the theaters, A-10C, F/A-18C and P-51D, mainly because DCS is the only entity developing combat aircraft simulators, my personal passion; and I hoped my support would enhance the pace of development. Like many other customers, I suspect, I have chosen NOT to purchase any more products, like F-16C and F-14B, until some of the long-standing deficiencies are addressed: weather, AI, ATC, night lighting, module completion, etc. I am disappointed that F/A-18C lacks so many major systems nearly 18 months after its release. I believe DCS has exhausted the community goodwill that, in the past, has allowed it to generate revenue through product early access. Some of the posts here provide a modicum of optimism that DCS has heard us and is taking action. Time will tell.

MOOSE (or other method) Spawn a single aircraft repeatedly
Habu_69 replied to =475FG= Dawger's topic in Mission Editor
Your objective is pretty straightforward to script in MOOSE. Have you started learning MOOSE scripting? You may have trouble getting folks to prepare scripts for you. -
PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller

Agree with Archer16. Took me couple of hours to finally understand calibration. Not that it is difficult, just that it is not very intuitive and I am thick-headed. Also, remember to calibrate in either windowed or full screen mode, whichever you use for flying. Once you have the FCU's calibrated, tho, experience is indeed game changing.- 3421 replies

Have you checked out finger Control Units? I have found them to be an excellent aid to cockpit management in VR. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218861

Real Simulator making a high-end F16C grip
Habu_69 replied to Ranma13's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Another query. I make robust use of Cougar S3 In (shift) feature. Does F16SGRH support something similar? I use Warthog throttle so TQS compatibility is no factor. -

@ Gruman. I use Surface Pro 3 and do not experience your issues. Use default aspect ratio and resolution. I also do not strap the thing to my leg. It rests on a flat surface at my elbow. I posted my positional settings earlier in this thread. -
Real Simulator making a high-end F16C grip
Habu_69 replied to Ranma13's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My 18 year old Cougar may finally be on its last legs. I have a cougar base with Realsimulator FSSB R2 mod. Will the F-16 grip fit and function on my existing Cougar base? -
DCS loads only selected folders from Saved Games; therefore some mods can be implemented only by substituting files in the main DCS folder. Sound mods are one example. So I have 2 OvGME configurations: 1 for Saved Game mods and 1 for DCS root mods.

Yeah, I also heard that guy lost a hand when he stuck it out the car window!

Save the file as mono .ogg at some low rate like 11,025hz. Anything of higher quality is wasted. Filter the file to limit the freqs to a band between about 800 and 1500 hz. Add mic click/static at start and end of the file to simulate radio transmission. Increase volume and loudness so you can hear the file in the ME.

My experience marking targets with TGP the AGM-154C consistently impacts long, by (it appears) about 20 meters.

What is FOX? Where is FOX:New() defined?? -
I believe DCS has stated that MAV seeker syncing to TGP targets is still WIP. I am guessing this is just another early access issue that will be tweaked sometime in the future.

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller

I agree the left mouse click at Button 3 seems a better solution ergonomically. Maybe Miles has longer fingers. Unsolicited testimonial. Been using my FCU's for only 4 days and find them a real game changer. Makes operating cockpit controls in VR SO MUCH easier and faster.- 3421 replies

Windows Mixed REality

Occasionally when I invoke WMR I see a blue mini-desktop. Looks a little like a calculator with some app icons and tools. It persists on top of DCS and I have no idea how to get rid of it while in VR, other than to exit and restart WMR and Steam. Any ideas?

I am interested because full screen mode prevents losing window focus from inadvertently clicking outside the DCS window. Very annoying during battle.
-
Yeah thanks, that is what I do now - 2 icons, but my query is related to automatically opening DCS in full screen mode when launching directly into VR.
-
Is there a command line switch or other method to automatically start DCS in VR full screen?

Addon Tents, Watchtower, UH-1-Cargo

Tried to contact Upuaut recently for an update, but no reply. -
I have participated in complex squadron missions (Not DCS) involving 20 aircraft with various contributing roles, including adversaries, and lasting over 2 hours that were extremely satisfying, but I don't believe this is possible in DCS with current network code. Such missions are possible with squadron members, as they tend be more disciplined in carrying out assigned roles than the average simmer. I opine that absolute realism is neither feasible nor desirable. Because DCS is an entertainment vehicle, expecting someone to spend 2 hours flying refueling orbits or uneventful fleet CAPs seems unrealistic.

Upgrading my HOTAS to the Warthog?
Habu_69 replied to hololight's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I flew the "Other" F-16 sim for 20 years with Cougar HOTAS with force sensor mod. When I started flying the DCS A-10C I purchased a used Warthog throttle and installed the Debolostis slew mod. I am very happy with this kit. -
