  1. Im sure most of us have noticed that in TWS if the phoenix never went active it would have a 100% kill ratio (assuming guidance from the plane would be accurate enough to make a hit...im not sure...whatever) with that in mind it seems like a good idea would be to set target size to small reducing the pitbull time from like 15 or 20 sec down to 10. I can see the missile go active at 10 seconds. However it appears that the target starts defending at about 20 sec although they should still be oblivious to the missile until it goes active right? My observation is that target size does not make a difference to AI.. Is that correct? is this an API issue? Thanks -Gun
  2. The ground handling of the f14 was always a bit marginal at best it seemed like.. Then after the previous suspension update it was a total disaster. It was harder to land on a runway and stop than land on a boat. However with this update its a totally new system. Its actually very controllable now and isn't a dice roll. This is the best its ever been. Excellent , five star *****
  3. This is pretty awesome feedback I wasn't expecting this. Thanks! I got the mudhen for the following reasons. 1) I wanted to see what the amraam was capable of when launched from a plane that has radar that can perform at least as well as the tomcat. (are 65 mile shots a thing???...yes) 2) I didn't know its performance was that different than the C ( I did not see this mentioned by youtube testers until a few days after it went live) 3) I could tell dedication and care was dumped into this things development and wanted to support that. 4) Its new and everyone picked it up I didn't want to be left out lol In my case I found that as expected it was going to take several months to become proficient with the jet but for now I decided that it is not a well enough rounded craft to dedicate the time to. I also realized that I missed jester pretty quickly when crossing into the merge.
  4. Awesome. I got it working as you described. Its certainly different but im not sure its better. Ill spend some time with it on then turn it back off in few days and see what I like more. (do I dislike a not totally smooth image more than I dislike a smooth but jello like image?????... I feel like the latter is more distracting) There's a lot of talk about MR and other stuff but the real hero here is FSR. Setting that to 100 and then using just the sharpening to 80 or more moves you from 2nd to 3rd gen at little to no cost. Also in the overlay tools vibrance and saturation can help as well. Well ive got my testing cut out for me now Thanks again.
  5. You discussed openxr Developer tools Is that located in the openxr tools as attached below or is that in the other openxr tools (companion app) or is this a 3rd openxr tool?
  6. Very helpful. I did not know it would operate at 1/3. That explains the 30fps and the increase in frame time. Using MR from the tool kit resulted in an unusable mess so I set it to disable and instead found the MR setting in the tool kit as you described. I set that to default. I now get a smooth experience with no pauses like when I used the always on setting in the tool kit. It works as intended now! Ill try some of the other settings you discussed as well and then decide if the smoothness is worth the artifacts. PS there are too many OXR apps with the same name. Thanks again!
  7. Hello Im having some issues with motion reprojection. Im attempting to change the settings in "open xr tools for windows mixed reality" I have never tried using motion reporjection for openxr so its never been known to work to me. When I set to "automatic" its appears to not function when set to "always" it add 2.5ms to my frame time dropping my fps from about 55 to about 30 and causes frequent pauses. If I climb the jet up to 30k where I would normally see 90 fps then I do get a good solid 45fps and all seems well. It appears that unless I have 90fps then reporjection doesn't function. Is this a known issue or am I missing something Thanks!!
  8. Awesome I got it no worries. Good instructions too! my initial observation is that it makes less difference than I would have expected. I set a custom FFR with 1/16th outer ring resolution and then set the outer ring to dominate the FOV until the clear spot was about the size of a fist held out at arms lenght I would expect this setting to provide the most boost in FPS as it provided a notable degradation in image quality as expected. with setting off I had a gpu frame time of about 18ms with the setting on it was about 16.8 with a change of FPS from 55 to about 61 I have a 4090 with a 13900k and 64gb of ram. I will play with this more. Thank you for all your work and all you've done to help with DCS and our VR adventures!
  9. sorry if I missed this but cant seem to find an answer. I have the G2 and its my understanding that openxr should support fixed foveated rendering. I have found it mentioned in several locations but have not been able to figure out how to implement it in real life. I see no options for FFR in "openxr tools for windows mixed reality" im assuming it probably uses some other app that ive forgotten about or dont have. any links or quick explanation of how to enable this? Thanks
  10. I was playing online in TTI servers and we all know the hottest thing on the block right now is the 15. One thing that I noticed is there seems to be about the same number of f16s and f14s but it looks like the 18 guys are the ones who are having a go with the new 15. Im hoping to get your opinions as f14 owners who have also tried out the 15. I want to avoid any bashing or un necessary criticism im just curious what you think about it after my limited observations of TTI. I own both and I think the 15 is great im not upset about anything but the F14 was a day 1 purchase for me and ive been flying it since day 1. The f15 was also a day 1 purchase and I was ready to go all in on it and give the 14 a rest and invest some time in a new system. I liked the idea of all those weapons glued all over it, a functional hud, a modern nav system, all that fuel and maybe that new radar system.... I got the 15 started up and look in the rear seat....Hummmm Taxied out rolled in full AB and popped the wheel brakes and was like hell yeah lets rip...watched the airspeed and acceleration....hummm accelerated out to 600 and stuck it on its tail and was like yeah lets do it!! climbed till airspeed was 150 checked altitude...hum dove down to 20k and got 400kts and was like yeah mock dogfight turn time... watched alpha, speed and gut feelings during turn...humph landed and that was the end of my f15 career for now. what's your opinion and if you decided to invest some time in the 15 in which fashion are you deploying it?

    VR FPS

Yes its not really usable at this instant. Im getting about 20fps most of the time with a 3090 and 13900k and 64gb of ram. Are we sure this isnt a multithread issue? I haven't had time to check if something like the f14 is still performing like it should in VR.
  12. Didnt see this reported yet. When moving head in VR it seems most trees and probably quite a few other objects seem to rotate L/R and Up/Dn with head movement this is most noticeable by looking at shadows which also move as the object moves. This is with HP reverb G2 Thanks
  13. Im having issue with the TCS and TPOD. I can set both gain and brightness but never get an image. with the TPOD I can see the overlay for range, GPS, crosshairs etc. but no image of the ground or targets just a green backdrop. I can see bomb explosions though. I am using auto start and VR. TCS and TPOD seem to work fine everywhere else. Thanks
  14. Hello I fly the B and have always had good success launching at about 40% power and then throttling up down the cat. It seems like If I had 100% mil no AB the pilot would always black out for a sec during initial launch. Now after the last update even at way too low of power settings I get blackout and does not recover until right about the time the jet clears the ramp then its too late to power up. Im of the opinion now that I might as well just full AB and yeet. Anyone have a better idea? Thanks
  15. Nice. This is good to hear. yes Vr is hardware but as stated by others it is a core feature and does not belong in "off topic" for many there is no difference between DCS and VR. By that i mean Vr is not a mouse or keyboard or video card or monitor.... it IS DCS. Without VR there is no DCS and unlike a mouse, keyboard, or even a gpu DCS is being updated and those updates directly effect VR on a core level to the point were it won't even load unless you make sure to read whats changed and you can then implement those changes on your end... This is never the case with typical off topic hardware. Finally unlike typical hardware VR is changing very quickly so each day you visit there is a real possiblity that something new has arrived or changed (hardware or software) no other hardware has rates of change like this.
  16. Sure thats fine...The issue is... Im concerned about a shift in ED's attitude towards VR. They aren't going to say we are done with it but they may choose phase it out slow so VR users drop off 1 by 1 and it goes away. Now I dont know if thats what is occurring but this is a red flag that maybe indicating a shift towards that kind of attitude. The entire VR section is now stuffed in a "yeah whatever" category After the MT updates and openXr improvements I would expect VR to get a dedicated "VR" link right under "DCS WORLD 2.8" OR at least at the end of the list under "DCS World Topic" but it got this instead...Dev cost vs profit numbers are in? "off topic" is now the attitude towards VR?
  17. Im slightly concerned that it seems like Vr is now considered a nonfactor off topic discussion. They talk about advancing Vr and ive seen improvement in Vr so why would something that I consider a significant branch of DCS end up getting tossed here? It make it feel like "yeah **** it Vr isnt worth it any more lets hide it and hope it goes away" and let people know that its off topic thing now dont discuss it.
  18. I haven't checked recently but I observed NVG not illuminating water. I could set the gain so the terrain was well illuminated however the water (ocean) was a solid black void of nothing. This would indicate that the water was significantly less reflective than dirt. Gain could not be set high enough to get visual on the ocean. I would suspect the water would either be much brighter than the dirt or would have bright lines from wave peaks as the crest reflected back for an instant. -Gun
  19. This is (or was) true but for me one of the biggest wins with MT was that I could now run tacview with zero observable impact on a server like TTI. Before it use to cost about 10fps now it looks like less than 1
  20. Thats what I suspected...Maybe its just my imagination then.... I notice some other things too like the rad alt during startup is a bit different. I'll keep quite about it then. Thanks -Gun
  21. No one wants to discuss the unmentioned improvements to the phoenix from what looks like the last patch.... Or is it just my lucky day ?
  22. lol
  23. Humm that's a bummer. Draconus offered some possible alternatives that would probably work okay in other situations. But the situation I provided should be the bare minimum of what a Tpod is capable of doing and by doing I mean "effectively" and by that I mean I had a 30 second window to find the tank column on the road it was unobstructed and it should have taken 15 seconds to scan and find the target and enter point track. None of that was possible the pod was zoomed in as tight as possible and was moving too slow to cover the required ground. Even a solution to ONE of those issues would have possibly made the pod marginally effective and allowed to get what I needed. People said I was a jackass for requesting adjustable mirrors and only an idiot would want that... Well here's to hoping! Thanks -Gun
  24. Usually he does quite well but I this case the "Area" is not a patch of ground but a very specific strip that is only in one direction and can be quite long. His search pattern tends to be around an area like a box. In this case he was searching a box pattern around the marker which means half his scan is useless and the other half isn't far enough away.
  25. The scenario is. I have a last known location of a target. The target is moving E on a main road. All I have to do is move the pod from the Steer point E along the very obvious road for perhaps a mile or two or maybe only fractions of a mile I dont know. I also appear to be incapable of doing this effectively. Its zoomed in too much or not enough depending on the range. The pod is covering maybe 40 to 80 feet a sec. I have 1000s of feet to cover. Snowplow is too coarse and causes me to fly a direction I dont want to. Thanks
