  1. Just look at the pics I posted. They clearly show that it's GS ;) http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2334782&postcount=14 I paused the game and then took the two screenshots: ~220kn IAS, TAD with GS (234kn) and PosInfo with TAS (226kn) on the CDU page. F2 view shows 236kn ... Wind is coming from about east, my heading is roughly 295.
  2. Well F2 showing GS instead of TAS isn't necessarily a bug but since people in this thread were taking F2 as TAS I thought I should make them aware that it's actually GS. Doesn't matter too much if they're testing at sea level with no wind but nonetheless...
  3. I was always under the impression that F2 shows GS, not TAS. At least in the A-10C, GS on the TAD or the CDU is always equal or very close to the speed shown in the F2 view and TAS often differs quite a bit from what is shown in F2. Same in the MiG-21, TAS needle often shows different values than F2. Proof: Look at the TAS on the POS Page and then the GS shown on the TAD. Compare to the F2 view. As you can see GS is only off by 2kn whereas TAS is off by 10kn!
  4. Yes it's modeled. Just try one of the WWII birds like the TF-51D and you'll notice it. It's definitely less noticeable in the Jets though.
  5. Very easy fix in the entry.lua just replace line 81 with this: dofile(current_mod_path.."/Entry/Hs")
  6. yea that seems to be the case ;) Since I don't have a track here's what my SARPP gives me for the moment just before and just after I went out of burner: time/height in metres/IAS in km/h/G vert./G horiz./RPM 717.000000 10147.429688 1302.138916 1.141661 0.188510 100.027809 718.000000 10157.237305 1304.358887 1.149144 0.118310 96.451813
  7. Ok, so I used a training map I build. Spring, 15°C, slightly different pressure at sea level than default summer one but it shouldn't differ too much. I might have been a bit above 10000ft actually but not too much. Watch your IAS, not your Mach needle. 1300km/h IAS is the never exceed limit which should be roughly M2.1 at 10000m, maybe a bit less. I immediately went out of burner every time I got to about 1295km/h IAS If you go above 10000m speeds higher than M2.1 should be possible without exceeding that limit. At 10500m you will reach it at about M2.13 or 2.14. Just be aware that you put a lot of stress on the engine if you exceed M2.05 for prolonged periods and these speeds will kill your engine in the long run no matter what.
  8. The limit where the engine dies has to be higher surely? I just took her up to M2.1 at about 10000m without running into any kind of trouble.
  9. I can get the AoA indicator lights on only below 650km/h it seems. At higher speeds than 650km/h IAS I will max out at about 20-25 AoA and around 900km/h IAS and higher I will black out before getting anywhere close to critical AoA
  10. AFAIK you could always (and still can!) load them on both the 1-2 and the 3-4 pylons. http://abload.de/img/dcs2015-02-2813-12-36btr0k.png
  11. The F-16 has a force sensing stick that only has very limited range to move. IIRC it wouldn't move at all in early models but it was later changed to move a little bit because of pilot feedback.
  12. Ich auch. Die 109 will einfach fliegen. Probleme hatte ich nur mit den Landungen in der 109.
  13. I was talking about the MiG as well and at least in the MiG-21 Module I'm flying there is no difference when you go over Mach 1. Edit: The only thing that changes is the wind noise which starts to drown out the engine noise. But you can notice this effect even below Mach 1. It's just not as pronounced and it becomes more and more noticeable the faster you go. It has nothing to do with going over Mach 1.
  14. No, it's just that the noise from the wind becomes very loud and drowns the engine noise a bit but there is no noticeable difference in actual engine noise. You're sitting right on top of the engine(s) and it doesn't matter how fast the aircraft goes - it won't sound any different.
  15. I recently played around with my overclock and tested different settings in DCS. All I can say is overclock your CPU. It's the best thing you can do for performance. Average FPS in the MiG @2.67GHz on an empty map, Tblisi, at mostly high settings, 2xAA, 10000m altitude, Mach 2.05: 20fps Average FPS at 4GHz, same settings, location, altitude and speed: 51fps ... FPS more than doubled! System specs are in my signature. Just make sure you have a good aftermarket heat sink.
  16. I did ask about the cover when we were flying yesterday. Or was it Para who wanted to know why his counter measures weren't working?
  17. I added the 2 position switches for the ASP modes to my default.lua: --Alternate ASP Mode - Gun {down=device_commands.ASPmissileGunSelect,up=device_commands.ASPmissileGunSelect,cockpit_device_id=devices.ASP,value_down=1,value_up=0.0,name='Alternate ASP Mode - Gun',category='Weapons / ASP'}, --Alternate ASP Mode - Giro {down=device_commands.ASPssGiroSelect,up=device_commands.ASPssGiroSelect,cockpit_device_id=devices.ASP,value_down=1,value_up=0.0,name='Alternate ASP Mode - Giro',category='Weapons / ASP'}, --Alternate ASP Mode - Bombardment {down=device_commands.ASPbombStrelbSelect,up=device_commands.ASPbombStrelbSelect,cockpit_device_id=devices.ASP,value_down=1,value_up=0.0,name='Alternate ASP Mode - Bombardment',category='Weapons / ASP'}, --Alternate ASP Main Mode {down=device_commands.ASPmanAutoSelect,up=device_commands.ASPmanAutoSelect,cockpit_device_id=devices.ASP,value_down=1,value_up=0.0,name='Alternate ASP Main Mode',category='Weapons / ASP'},
  18. Isn't there more information in the briefing? On the F10 Map you only have the MGRS grid and of course an exact location on your cursor in Latitude Longitude, Latitude Longitude Decimal or MGRS depending on your gameplay settings.
  19. This might be of interest to you: http://www.mudspike.com/how-to-use-the-doppler-navigator-in-dcs-mi-8mtv2/ http://www.mudspike.com/after-action-report-acclimation/
  20. Despite these issues I'm really enjoying the MiG. It has become one of my favourite modules. And yes, I would like to see realistic modeling of the ASP and realistic steering but it doesn't keep me from enjoying your module. That stall behaviour is really weird though, you have to admit. Now back into the cockpit, hunting F-4s :pilotfly:
  21. +1 I thought the Beta version was there to test for bugs like this. This isn't a minor bug. It affects a lot of missions we play so I hope ED will fix it ASAP.
  22. +1 for a realistic MiG. At least let us choose the helpers in the special tab. I think there already is game mode, you just don't have seperate options like with the other aircraft. I'm very much in favor of something like this, though.
  23. If a manual says there is a limit of X then you can be sure that there are safety margins.
