Well as long as you approach the ground and your ROD increases instead of decreases the FM is on par.

Ah I'm an idiot, I downloaded the 1.0.4 server. My bad. Thanks for the super fast response though! Yorick

I have the same error it seems from the logs. Is there a fix available for this? I tried the patch above here in the thread but that didn't help. Cheers, Yorick

Multiplayer performance, multiplayer datacardridges, missile FM/guidance, damage models.

So you think being a minority is a bad thing? Isn't that discrimination in itself? I'm white or black, you don't know. I don't care if you know/for you to know. What I do care about is that you treat me as you yourself would like to be treated. Why differentiate? Hi I'm a girl and I'd like to be treated that way because I'm a girl... that's the wrong way to approach this and apparently western society keeps falling for the same damned trick over and over again. It's the same as women want to sit on board of directors because we need an equal amount of women and men on said board. Shouldnt you be/get there because you have the best papers irregardless of what you are?

Ok few things to report here, some or all might already be reported but guess better to have too many than too few. First of all. The FM is a bit wonky. Why if you apply a decending collective setting it decends steady until you get within 20ft of the ground and it then the rate of decent picks up... it should be the other way around with ground effect kicking in. Note translational lift is not changing since i'm not changing the forward speed. Second FM related thing is that why is it that when you apply collective you notice it in banking very sharply? It makes no difference with AP on/off. Second. I always get the same crash when flying in mp at random time intervals. Thank you for your time. Yorick dcs.txt dcs2.txt

First of, great job ITGC you really had us scrambling! And thanks to Moltar and everyone involved in hosting this competition. It really got my heart pumping from the GCI seat being so far away from the action.

Quote from a website since I can't post pictures from the textbooks here: Power settling is an unstable condition. If allowed to continue, the sink rate will reach sufficient proportions for the flow to be entirely up through the rotor system. If continued, the rate of descent will reach extremely high rates. Recovery may be initiated during the early stages of power settling by putting on a large amount of excess power. During the early stages of power settling, the large amount of excess power may be sufficient to overcome the upflow near the center of the rotor. If the sink rate reaches a higher rate, power will not be available to break this upflow, and thus alter the vortex ring state of flow. Normal tendency is for pilots to recover from a descent by application of collective pitch and power. If insufficient power is available for recovery, this action may aggravate power settling resulting in more turbulence and a higher rate of descent. Recovery can be accomplished by lowering collective pitch and increasing forward speed. Both of these methods of recovery require altitude to be successful.

Well there are three techniques one can use to get out of VRS: 1: Forward cycling, lower collective and get out of the dirty air. 2: Vuichard recovery - Set collective to climb power, pedal to keep straight and bank sideways into the updraft air. 3: Settling with power - Add collective and beat the air into submission. Now, 3 is not recommended due to what heloguy posted. It has to do with the power required/available. 2 is a technique is that being taught more and more at different flight schools because it limits the altitude needed for the recovery because you don't have to lower the collective first (and thus start sinking even faster).

IRL you can get out of vrs with applying just power. But you'd need about double the power for a hover...

This thread is really really funny. Most of you don't even know to properly do BFM and you're bitching about the merge and the setup? If I were you I'd rather go learn proper BFM first and then concern yourselves with details like that. One or two do know this stuff in this thread and you should take their words as gospel in here. Watching 'Art of the Kill' once or twice doesn't teach you this stuff. It's doing it over and over again along with reading. I like to think about the skill of dogfighting as three stages of reading a book: - First stage is where you're completely clueless or like I to call it: You know there is a book but you have no clue how to even read it. - Second stage is when can read the book but the contents is mostly over your head. - The third is where you can actually read and interpret/understand said book. I'm trying to say here is that the actual level of most people here is stage one. A few possible stage 2 candidates and maybe 1 that can read the fight while it's happening and knowing how to counteract the BFM problems laid on to you. Of course that won't win you the fight but at least you have tools to fight with. Going straight up after the merge while you're already at angels 16 is pure suicide. That it worked really tells me that people lack the basic knowledge of simple rules like: If he goes up relax and when he comes down pull. Maybe we as a community should try to gain that knowledge and get better at this stuff because at this point it's becoming quite sad in my opinion.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
YorZor replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
I think everyone here should take a break from bitching about the setup problem blue/red.... The real problem is that blue is doing **** all when they're up in the air. When they start doing something they might get somewhere one day. -
