Merry Xmas to you and your team. I downloaded and flew the MB 339 yesterday and it was a blast especially in vr. Not really too fond of aircraft analogue avionic but the MB 339 is quite amazing. I am yet to fully explore the aircraft but the few minutes I was in it has been fun. The music that plays in the background in the aerobatic mission(Instant Mission) so nice and enjoyable. I will be perusing the manual to learn more about the aircraft. Kudos to you guys for this remarkable mod in dcs. [emoji1635]

Yes the re-texture for the Hornet came in the openbeta patch that came before this last one that introduced TWS. For me a VR user, the dark texture makes the cockpit text very clear and striking against the dark background. Anyhow, ED says they would still tweak the cockpit textures. Fingers crossed and hope the clarity of text and label as it is would not be affected.

Announcement - new A-10C DLC training campaign
Eaglewings replied to baltic_dragon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I am curious, is this released already? Bought some A-10C campaigns few hours ago and just found this thread. I cannot seems to find this campaign in Ed's shop list. Looks like one that would ease my re-entry into the A-10C again with the gorgeously looking new cockpit which is at this stage a work in progress. -
Question about real life Hornet HOTAS
Eaglewings replied to sirrah's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Great. Anytime. Will be very much appreciated. It is so good to have same function of same keymap for different aircraft. I was at a loss recently doing the new TWS engagement in the Hornet and pressing key function of the Viper . Had to watch Wags video again to relearn the Hornet keymap function for the radar. Yours will come in handy in this case. Cheers and happy holidays. -
It seems like I am living in another planet or just being luck when it comes to vr in dcs. My experience with my odyssey + has been and remain smooth. No crashes, ghosting or any other glitches that has been reported lately.

Question about real life Hornet HOTAS
Eaglewings replied to sirrah's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I am using same hotas as your. Warthog stick and twcs throttle. If do not mind sharing, will be great to see your key mappings for the Hornet, perhaps I could improve a few things here. Thanks -

A Polish bird: PZL W-3 Sokól Beta download.
Eaglewings replied to Stratos's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thank for sharing and for the hard work. I understand I need to copy the cockpit files of the KA-50 into the PZL W-3 file. Does this indicated that cockpit used is that of the KA-50 or it has its cockpit? -
It is indeed a mistery to have things as obvious as this gloss over even after wide spread complain. I know ED has taken notice of this Viper MFD thing and plan to implement contrast/brightness functionality later but a temporary fix like this should suffice while we wait for the big one.

Yes correct. Would have been bigger bag of dissappiontment. I wish another developer would pick that aircraft up.

Heatblur Development Update - Thunder & Cat
Eaglewings replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
You couldn't be more right as far as I am concern. This cockpit mod works really well. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304383/ -
Heatblur Development Update - Thunder & Cat
Eaglewings replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
The Tomcat takes getting used to. I have yet to get it really down with the Tomcat having been used to modern avionics all my flight sim life. Flight system was tough for me initially but HB has really improved the flight dynamic now as she is pretty easy and stable to control now. Weathered cockpit is very subjective topic for the Tomcat. A huge number like as it is while some like me still prefer an averagely weathered cockpit like the old A-10C and the Hornet where cockpit labeling are not compromised. This is less of an issue now as I have gotten to memorize those test switches and there is a cockpit mod out there that gives readable cockpit text and labeling. Not sure you can use the mod if you fly online. However, the Tomcat is a huge project by HB. A lot to play with here. Enjoying your Tomcat. Cheers. -
Roger that and wilco. Thanks a lot.

Yeah I get the feeling. From the little we have been allowed to know about the dcs supercarrier, It has never been so represented in the sim world like this. My anticipation is strong. The money to buy this is conveniently and safely tucked away.

The lack of hud indication of where the tgp is looking at and as you mentioned the inability to slave sensors to one sensor makies this a hassle for me. Went on a night mission today, could not locate the targets on the tgp, lots of searching and fiddling with the slew button. I could see them from outside view, put the flight marker on target location and recentre tgp with the cage /uncage button and could not see them. Just Looking forward to the improvement coming to the tgp of the Hornet early next year. Anyways, thanks for this detailed information.

Or there is still one more pleasant surprise package in the offing.

I feel good about the improved range and flight dynamic update to the AIM-120 missile. The SD-10 seems to be the catalyst that hasten the improvements to Amraam. All the same, thanks to ED for this upgrade. Wags has mentioned that the research was strictly for the aim120 and the Russian missiles were not considered. Perhaps those will be looked at a later time. I do not own the JF-17. Anyone know if there was an adjustment to the SD-10 capability? If it is not in anyway tamed, I would reckon it's range and implementation is realistic as it is in the game.

They do same thing = supersampling Use of custom resolution is easy on my system configuration compared to dcs pixel density. I however get sharper image using dcs pixel density of 1.3.
-
Yes, this is the function I was looking for in the Hornet if in the software. Will be checking the recce function to see if it does same.
-
Thanks daarseth. Let hope the Viper is developed in time. I kind of think the Viper systems will be less complex to implement compare to the Hornet.
-
Talking about the RECCE switch, in the Viper, does the Hornet have this convenience. It is cool to use in the Viper. I am not aware of switch to off JHMCS in the fly without using the rotary on/off knob.

Buy it now or not is very subjective. I pre-ordered the Viper and as it is well known then, system implementation-wise, it was barebone but I still had great fun with her. The open canopy view is unbeatable especially in vr. The Viper has received some important features in a quick time from ED and should the trend of these patches be substaned, I see the Viper maturing fully soon. As she is now, she has got good enough systems implemented to successfully prosecute aa and ag missions. It was easy for me to put the Viper in my hangar having been very conversant with her in other sim and knowing the depth dcs brings to their simulation. I would say yes but again this is you buying. Check reviews of current features on YouTube and match against your expectations to ease the move to get it or not. A happy owner here All the best.

I would vote the A-10C new cockpit to be the best of all modules in dcs for me. Clarity of text, dials and gauages, texture and some new layout of consoles and panel are truly amazing. Wishing this level of design can be extended to the Hornet and Viper in future. I am so happy there are no weathered components to the new cockpit, this improves it's usefulness for me. Sitting there and looking at the panels, buttons and switches is so eye pleasing. The A-10C is coming out of decommision for me as I want to redo my training tutorials again. Astonishing job by ED and I hope this brings in some good sales for the company. Thank you.

where does DCS rank on system resource demand using VR?
Eaglewings replied to fitness88's topic in Virtual Reality
Yes, your system spec is good enough to run vr very well and get good play from it. I play on a i5 7600k @ 3.8mhz , gtx 1060 6g without overclocking cpu or gpu , 16g ram and SSD, Samsung odyssey plus headset and the experience has been very smooth on mostly single player missions. Plays heavy missions like red flag missions with high graphic settings but msaa and shadows turned off, system can holds 35 fps on airfield and 40fps high up. An upgrade in the gpu department is planned for me though. -
I think it is normal to have two screen mirroring same thing on the desktop display. Have always had that from of onset. I had the mouse issue before but if you launch dcs from within headset desktop display, mouse loosing track issue is eliminated.
