Chain gun: Effective engagement ranges?
WRAITH replied to Hummingbird's topic in Military and Aviation
https://youtu.be/nPcZzEqWR5Q The M230 Chain Gun is a 30 mm (30×113 mm), single-barrel chain-driven auto cannon,1,500 m (1,640 yd) Maximum firing range. 4,000 m (4,370 yd) The M230 Chain Gun is a 30 mm (30×113 mm), single-barrel chain-driven auto cannon, using external electrical power (as opposed to recoil or expanding gas generated by the firing cartridge) to cycle the weapon between shots. -
Not motion and I also don't think you'll really enjoy it long term....... but VIPERWING have done a great job for the F-16 - F-18 and Prepar3D F-35 Check it out....... https://viperwing.com/ GET THE CURVED SCREEN AS WELL In my opinion allot more visually to have in a private room than a jerky pop corn machine imho

+1 but not a bar just improved modelling keeping more simple less game like, if you will. Examples https://youtu.be/GhGucWnyORU https://youtu.be/tMVNWZ4FzwM

Hi Bignewy, Absolutely agree ED has done allot Absolutely agree it takes time Absolutely agree its complicated programming / code issues Absolutely agree that there are costs Absolutely agree that there are technical legal challenges and restrictions Absolutely agree that timing means patience with small dev teams Absolutely agree with many comments you make BIGNEWY..... But please could we simply see on the horizon after many years of request/threads/links/youtubes and discussions and whatnot the attempt to create a "REAL DCS WORLD"......... by at least ED building the code work for a global map framework even if its flat landscapes with mountainous views like PMC theaters with fictional military airbases / training grounds and then allow community development to create topography details that's more in favor than nothing for two decades. PLEASE! AN EXAMPLE - https://youtu.be/GnyeYcf03Ek

To respond +1 Agree! Hopefully in very near future. If ED simply built the code and frame work and 3rd parties did the creative art to landscapes it would be achievable over time through update and what not. (Many Hands Make Light Work) Now for military airbases and training areas it would not need to be realistic due to them being CLASSIFIED but fictional air bases or approximations would suffice. I would love to fly through the Scandies e.g. Norways on joint ops missions..... To consider the view to flying cross country, hops and/or intercontinental flights would be amazing with air refueling and the use of SKYVECTOR or FLIGHT PLAN to navigate and a proper ATC and airport / airbases navigation systems of course. I do hope ED does take this route embracing aviation as a whole in future, it has been discussed before though, so can just wait that it does happen.
-
yeah, okay..... but did I say that ED had to create all, read my reply post again. I said let ED build the code and frame work for a global map and then let the 3rd party devs fill in the landscape details, yeah! Flight is not merely circling around nearby surrounds but continental global air travel meaning flight is anywhere around the world. FLIGHT - Commercial or Military is GLOBAL, FACT! THINK - INTERDICTION MISSIONS - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_interdiction ............... long flights This what most serious flight simmers want not short missions like a game and no campaign engine either to add or tactical employment or even flight routes link- https://www.mapsofworld.com/world-airroutes-map.htm However what would be cool to add is saved flight missions then you can continue at later date..... more of that here..... https://forums.eagle.ru/search/?q=saved missions&quick=1 Its a flight sim not a Grand Prix sim with race tracks to develop that would suit the argument of building in blocks per race tracks around the world. Planes fly cross continents and countries. point made, I believe. ED CODE AND FRAMEWORK needed for 3rd parties DEVs to take on the task of creating the landscape!
-
I'd rather like most flight simulations develop a world map, it just needs to happen! ED Dev's should just build the frame work and allow for third parties to begin to fill up the landscapes / nations / continents etcetera .... in either SD or HD or 4K scenery so on. It also does not need to be realistic for military or classified air bases but fictional air bases or approximations would suffice. Got to be realistic in the what we could or allowed to have verses what is high expectations.

Wanted to share @Growling Sidewinders Video The New Era of Combat Flight Sim - DCS 2.7 Update New Clouds. BEAUTIFUL! COMPARISON APPROX TEN YEARS AGO.......

Just found this some good points! 90% Single Player, that's where I am at and prefer but so much needs to come into development for that to really entertain me as a flight sim enthusiast, patiently waiting especially out of BETA state. I do want both though Single-Player and Multi-Player sim'ing to be upfront. The list of things I want implemented is huge and at least the continual updates keep me in rather than out but waiting. More Third Parties is the key in my view so ED would greatly benefit with improved development tools and contracts for them to plug in, whilst core coding is done via ED Team and other areas of development working in submitted branches. Just my personal take. Also point on PC build for DCS at high settings as I am waiting and choosing to hold on spending. Also Napalm planned at some point ................"YES Please" Great interview applause.

Will the Marianas Map be shaped such that it fits on a sphere?
WRAITH replied to Northstar98's topic in DCS: Marianas
Personally, and I get that the source code is complex and things take time and what not but over the years waiting for maps and constant request's, I would rather a 3rd Party create a Global Map and fill in the graphical landscape details. Then you can select anywhere in the world to fly in and so on -
+1 To do this...... I agree..........

HOW CYCLIC OPS REALLY WORKS !!! by GB and Pieter
WRAITH replied to Pieterras's topic in DCS: Supercarrier Tutorials
Awesome thanks just love stuff like this -
@Battlefield ProductionsSingle Player / Multiplayer "Live Training Ranges"............ heavily needed with various landscapes and ground target layouts. Again once the Dynamic Campaign engine and new Theaters at different era's and Maps are developed a great opportunity to have more ground content and further advance the sim to encompass more. Tactical and Networked Ops night and day Air Land Sea exercises with radio (menu) command player controlled functionality. More toys............ is GOOD! Example .............

+1 I'm unsure how it would all look like or function but it would be nice if to see something either animated or similar to this....... Current......... Proposed...........

@Battlefield ProductionsJust a note with pricing and where things are going why not better sort out a 3rd party developer contract deal with ED and simply add to Combined Arms as a development group instead of selling extra asset packs. Combined Arms is lacking so much that it leaves Single Players wanting. Now consider the development of ED's Dynamic Campaign variant looking from past milsim's it was a hit amongst simmers and then the development of maps towards building a global map its years of work and possibilities to grow in across various eras. E.g. Balkans War Vietnam ...... so on Also for those that think Single Player is a minority its false belief yeah multiplayer is where things are at for Squadrons but the sim just doesn't stop there in fact it can grow further from there into areas of more interaction and learning where you get more use from the actual overall sim. These are old discussions but with 3rd party help supporting a bigger vision you can use many areas of single player to improve on. Although when we talk in terms of A.i and levels of complexity like.... Example.... Recruit Cadet Rookie Veteran Ace Top Gun Major Kernel ...whatever....... etc ..... LoL You can add so much realism and immersion with menu or voice comm's functions and player control A-A and A-G AWACS, ATC, JTAC, Mobile Command Centers. inland country airfields etc. Where you are in a WAR and you are tasked orders and pulled in and out to support or to attack areas of threat or interest its just the same as multi-player in the sense of how you approach the sim/game and develop better insight into milsims as you build your pilot profile, also training range missions with various training airfields and tactics explored in missions scripts dynamic campaign so on. The idea and use of Dissimilar Air Combat Training (DACT) or mission in the same package and the combined use of infantry ground forces and improved interaction its just a great need, its where in past many wants were put forward but due to development status put on hold now there is an opportunity to improve and take it next level.

The joys of flights sims, video games and hobbies in general they cost money. Keep a "Budget or have a Plan" is my opinion, I have good rig but it wont play DCS anymore, so I either use my Laptop or my old Rig for older sims. But I have a plan and Budget as I wait for DCS to come out of BETA or at least 1 to 2 year wait for more finished product to come out like Dynamic Campaign, Graphics Engine improvements CPU and GPU optimizations or just general better core code running better to decide on a new system, then I will be buy it and set it up for at least 10 year build. I don't think Windows 10 will be around long enough either its crap in my opinion, I think will see something else that is more advanced soonish. However you can run Ubuntu - Linux - https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/81491-dcs-world-support-linux And in the News for Jan 2021 here -https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/254461-official-news-2021/ You can still run - DCS World 2.5.6 if you are still keen. Point is there are some options, DCS is still in development and moving forward thats the gaming world! We work then we play to have fun!
