  1. Does anyone know it it is possible to modify a .lua and change the country associations for the default SAM templates?
  2. Right "Now" we usually fly 2-3 hours at a time and kill the server when we're not flying...so restarting the mission isn't really an issue. One option I am considering is probably less work...but just as random... Create groups of SAMs at different locations. Each group layered with long range, medium range and short range SAMs. Random activate a group... Set long range SAMs active and each additional Sam site to activate only if the "layer" above it is destroyed or if an aircraft enters its engagement zone. (Using a trigger zone) End result would be different long range SAMs present at start but others would active randomly based on player actions.
  3. Thanks Dark Wood I’ll give each a try.
  4. Sometimes it makes sense...others it’s purely random. Castle AFB in Merced California was Fog Patch...and anyone who’s flown there understands why. It gets foggy there in mornings. At Beale the SR-71 callsign was “Aspen”...so the U2s took Pinion. (A tree that grows higher in the mountains than an Aspen tree.)
  5. You can also delete the Mission Editor folder in the dcs install and do a repair... Please don't ask how I know this...:music_whistling::music_whistling::music_whistling:
  6. OK Mission Editor Guru's I need some help. I am working on a set up for the Nevada Map utilizing the Fixed Threat Sites listed in the attached .KMZ file. There are 35. I want to populate each threat site with multiple SAM systems, all set up for late activation...(This I know how to do) The First task is to select a random number of threat sites to be activated...Not all of them but enough to be challenging. After selecting how many sites are activated, I want to randomly select which specific threat sites activated... Then I want to randomly select which system is activated... The goal is to have each mission present a completely different threat picture each time it's launched and I am trying to do it using the DCS triggers only.
  7. Contact Tm Support. It takes many steps but you can get it replaced.
  8. Yeah? I think I'm going too... I was hoping ED would make be there...
  9. Great guide...But...(sorry I actually hate that phrase so just I had to use it...) What about a yellow contact with a staple underneath? Is that: Ambigious / Unknown contact. Staple on bottom HAFU means it is being provided by onboard sensors of OTHER aircraft? (Seriously great job sir!)
  10. My friend at 5:30 am I was only paging through the forums trying to get back to sleep after taking our dogs out. I was amazed to see this thread had grown to 25 pages. The comment struck me as less than accurate in light of what I was seeing. I referenced a photo I took early Friday afternoon of the servers RAM & CPU load that I had sent to a friend to make sure I was posting accurate information, made the comment and was ready to go back to sleep... It was not my intention to pile on telling you you were wrong...nor was it my intention to read the entire thread...
  11. I believe you are dramaticly oversimplifying what's been done...this isn't just a different interface to the same process. When running server using "render3d=false" my server box with 16 go of RAM averaged 8-10 GB of ram usage and 25-40% CPU Usage... Using the dedicated server those numbers drop to 2.3GB and 10-15% CPU usage. Significantly different numbers. This is a pretty good indicstion there is more going on than just a new way to implement the same server.
  12. It could be a couple of things...a matter of not putting all your eggs in one basket... A.) You don't want an engine problem associated with a particular engine grounding your entire fleet... B.) supply and demand...if the engines manufacture cant supply the engines as fast as Lockheed is building the airframes...
  13. Emmy is that a "Weapon Restriction", a "TGP Restriction" or "Command restriction"?
  14. I > THINK < this is how it was done in real life...But I cant find supporting evidence...Still looking.
  15. Gentlemen, OK I got a interesting one for ya... I have been working on the attached mission for about a week. When I launch it single player...it works as expected. The GCICAP Script , range scripts and Mist elements are all available. When I launch it on a server...Everything works except for the Range Scripts. I cant figure out why. If someone cold take a look at it with a fresh set of eyes I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance Air Tasking Order (ATO) FOXTROT.miz
  16. Cant be put in DCS...Too Classified...No Tech Data...
  17. They have all sorts of controller boards available. It’s figuring out what parts are needed and how to program it that’s the issue.

  19. Hey guys, has anyone used pcflights panels and more importantly has anyone used their electronics and gauges with DCS. Their prices look reasonable for "plug and Play" but I'm not inclined to buy a bunch of electronics that simply won't work. If anyone is using their gauges and electronics would ya mind sharing how? http://pcflights.com

  21. Useless analogy? How is an example of the Real Aircraft missing a "Feature" namely the ability to change frequencies using the UFC a useless analogy? Seemed pretty appropriate to me all things considered...
  22. SHOW THE TEST OF THE PAGE! WHAT HAAAAAPPPEEENNNDDDD! ????????????
  23. You originally said: " meh i personally would not be interested in CFT on a viper, that would mean degradation in performance for WVR dogfighting." I was pointing out that according to the experts there is no degradation for WVR dogifhting. That being said for the most part extra fuel is irrelevant in DCS due to the size of the maps we currently have. It would be nice however if sometime down the road they were added for AI Aircraft of countries such as the UAE. That do use them.
  24. Misawa and Spangdahlem...Europe and Asia. I don't see the issue. This is a prototypical correct version is it not? Personally I'm happy ED was able to find a block that incorporates so many capabilities into one airframe. Players can decide how they want to utilize them.
  25. “The CFTs have very little adverse effect on the F-16’s renowned performance. A set of CFTs carries 50 percent more fuel than the centerline external fuel tank, but has only 12 percent of the drag. The aircraft retains its full 9-g capability and flight envelope with the CFTs installed. The drag impact is very small, less than one percent in combat configuration at cruise conditions.” ~Maj. Timothy McDonald, U.S. Air Force project pilot for F-16 CFT testing at Eglin AFB ~ http://www.f-16.net/f-16-news-article781.html
