Sirrah it's curious this is happening to just you...understand I am NOT throwing stones at you or questioning your procedures. NONE OF US are Stan Eval or actually qualified in the F-18C The APU description states "Operation of the APU is automatic after the APU switch, on the left console, is placed to ON. The APU may be shut down at any time by placing the APU switch to OFF. After the APU has completed its start cycle a green READY light comes on. After the second generator is on line, the APU runs approximately 1 minute then the APU switch returns to OFF." If you are seeing such a dramatic variation in how long the APU is operating following engine start I'm curious if you are doing something that causes it...and if you are what that might be. Obviously following the NATOPS should yield the same results every time. Try running an auto start...and time how long from the time the Second engine stabilizes to APU cutout and then do a Manual start using the NATOPS checklist...if ya don't have it in your library PM me and I will point ya to an open source for it.

Ok now the Million Dollar question...what is "Clean Compass Fluid"? We always called them Whiskey Compasses...but I doubt that's what they are filled with now. Great explanation.

Before we answer how about posting your system specs...

Also note if the mods necessary break Integrity Check

I think we as a group need to ensure what countries are required are listed in the File name I.E. something like [PG] Oil_Platforms USA-UAE-Iran.stp [Cac] Kutaisi_AB USA-Georgia-Poland.stp

Any chance the paratrooper mod can be applied to the standard c-130 and C-17?

Not yet...But I believe it coming.

Pitch UP when Carrier Launch with Auto Flap
Sierra99 replied to backspace340's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Nobody is being aggressive. Your first words indicated you know the correct procedure...you CHOOSE not to follow the correct procedure and configure the aircraft improperly...once airborne the aircraft exhibits undesired behavior...and you posted what you thought was a bug report. In very short order several people provided NATOPS references indicating that it was not a bug. You are causing the behavior by configuring the aircraft improperly. What you were describing matches what the NATOPS manuals say will happen if the aircraft is improperly for takeoff...in other words it was not a bug. What you interpret are aggressive is frustration. We COULD have read your post and simply thought "he's doing it wrong" and not replied. But that wouldn't have helped you or anyone else doing it wrong and crashing. We provided the correct information...and you argued it was wrong. Some of us have operated real military aircraft. Some of us understand if it's written in the flight manual it's there for a reason. Doing it wrong on purpose and complaining about the result is counter productive. -
Pitch UP when Carrier Launch with Auto Flap

The simple fact is you’re doing it wrong. Numerous people have posted quotes from the NATOPS flight manual describing the EXACT behavaior you are describing as the result of taking off with the aircraft improperly configured. You cant believe the FCS will try to kill you if you configure the aircraft wrong? Let me ask you this, what do you think Test Pilots do? Their job is to figure out all different ways the aircraft will try to kill you and how to prevent it. Once they figure out how to prevent it they put that information in a book so everyone else knows what to expect. By your own admission you are improperly configuring the aircraft and calling the resulting flight control issues a “bug”. Perhaps instead of defending your improper takeoff procedures and complaining they kill new players you should practice ensuring your aircraft is properly configured for takeoff. -
Perhaps we're getting the Shrike because it could carry them...but also because it's part of the Phantom weaponry?

Proper Takeoff setting is Half Flaps and trim set appropriately for Takeoff Weight... 12. FLAP switch - AUTO 13. Controls - CHECK Tolerance for rudder and stabilator position is ±1°. a. Control stick - CYCLE Full aft: 24 NU stabilator Full fwd: 3 NU R/L Aileron: CHECK 20 units differential stabilator. CHECK differential trailing edge flaps b. FLAP switch - HALF c. Rudder pedals - CYCLE 30° left and right 14. Trim - SET FOR TAKEOFF If takeoff trim is not set, full leading edge down stabilator movement may not be available and takeoff distance will increase. If you are using flaps AUTO or FULL for takeoff...its not a bug. -
What happened to the RIOs after the Tomcat retired?

NO....Both flights have to be in at a specific point at 0720...You adjust their takeoff time and include routing to have them arrive at that point at that time...I can take of at 0620 and arrive at the same point you do by flying a different route.

Remember, sales lititure has nothing to do with operational flight testing. It normally takes years of testing and evaluation to ensure specific munitions can be safely employed from a given aircraft. All that picture shows is two weapons will physically fit on the mount together. It doesn't show how they interact in flight with each other at given speeds and release conditions. It doesn't show how the interact with the aircraft at given speeds and flight conditions. It doesn't show how they affect airflow over the wings at given speeds and altitudes. It doesn't show a myriad of things that are vitally important to the safe and effective employment of the weapons from the aircraft.

Wait...EWR sites will call out target like an AWACS?

Right here... 8:25 in...

Ever stop to consider why it's taking so long? Maybe they are going to do throttles too. After all, the already have the basic start with the TWCS throtttle...

The most reliable thing to do is set all of your bindings manually and delete any associated with a incorrect controller. I.E. the only thing showing as mapped to the rudder pedals is rudder and brakes. Etc.
