Suncom SFS and Talon restoration and mods
Sierra99 replied to debolestis's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hey deboelitis... I'm curious if you could be convinced to rework this main board to use the ALPS switches natively without the additional board? Here's why I ask... The F-15C, F-18C and AV-8 B stick each have the same basic setup as far as the Trim and Castle switch...The F-15/ F-18 Trim and Castle switches in the same spots, the Harrier trim and castle switches are reversed. On the F-15 the "Trim switch" is a 4 way switch with center depress that activates countermeasures Program 1 . The Castle switch is 4 way switch with No center push function On the F-18 the castle switch has the depress function...trim doesn't not / may not. AV-8B the, trim and castle switch positions are reversed...castle has the depress function. By adding the alps switches with Z-axis to the board you could make it possible for someone to correctly map the functions for 3 aircraft on one suncom stick. -
Look at it this way...You really don't need the static object sitting where planes spawn...It's a version of Schrodinger's cat / Tree falls in a forest puzzle. If you're not in the server is the Static airplane really there? Populate the Ramp but leave the specific spots empty for clients. When the client spawns...they will see aircraft next to them...and the static aircraft that might have been in that spot...will exist only with Schrodinger's cat and the Tree.

Fighting Falcon might be the "Official Name" but "Viper" is all I ever heard them called during my career...

Appeal for calm in the DCS F-16 community
Sierra99 replied to RaceFuel85's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I'm just curious...how many time will you have to be told F-16s did not fly operationally with triple Mavericks? How many times will you have to be told why it was not done before you accept it as fact? I flew in the Air Force for 22 years as a Boom Operator. I have flown combat missions during Desert Shield, Desert Storm, operation Deny Flight, operation Allied force, Operation enduring freedom and operation Iraqi Freedom. I've refueling F-16As on their way to become target drones and F-16CGs and CJs so new their tail number information wasn't in our database...I have refueled literally hundreds and hundreds of F-16s in combat zones carrying yellow banded weapons... And not once in 22 years did I ever see an F-16 in a combat environment with Six Mavericks. If the load out was used for decades and so wide spread...show us pictures. -
What modules cost hundreds of bucks? I've had numerous hobbie that were FAR more expensive than this one. Yes the F-18 is in early access...but people have been enjoying the available features for almost 2 years... ED COULD have just waited until it was "finished"...and nobody would have had anything...for the last two years. Personally I like the way the F-18 has been released. Basics and then 1-2 systems at a time. It has been far less overwhelming to learn the aircraft in steps than all at once. I'd hope they release the Viper the same way. Of course we could all wait until they are both "finished" to buy anything...

I think you are misusing the G-limiter. I can’t think of a reason you would disengage the limiter then “ease into” an over gee situation. Usually it’s a case of Betty “INSISTING “ that I “PULL UP, PULL UP!” And me mashing the paddle to avoid “Controlled Flight into Terrain”. (At least when I fly anyway).

This explains it quite well. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3855253&postcount=147

I think the question is was it "prohibited" for the A-10C...or just not used?

Before moving to Florida I was an active model railroader...I went to a club meeting every Friday night which usually included a trip to the local hobby store to see what deals I could find... I spent between $25 and $50 a week on that hobby. Now I spend $50 - $60 dollars every 3 or 4 MONTHS on my Hobby... Actually pretty cheap even if you don't fly em that much.

Is changing comm 1, ch 1 to something other than the flight possible?
Sierra99 replied to Razi's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
If I understand the question, Yes and no...I > THINK < Your wingman is always on your frequency. But if you set 3 different flights to 264.000 in the mission editor and then change your comm 1 inflight...the only people you'll hear is YOUR flight. (Not at computer yet...haven't tested this...but pretty sure this is correct) -
Several things to consider... First the hornet is fully functional for the features is currently has... No,,,it is not "complete" yet. But a friend and I spent more than 3 hours flying last night doing air to air and air to ground and neither of us cared we don't have ground radar yet. Neither of us cared the module is " incomplete" because it really didn't have any effect on our game. Second I believe the way ED has released the Hornet incrementally has made it far easier to master than getting a " complete" package on day one. I sincerely hope they do the same thing with the Viper. Finally...if we waited for everything to be polished and finished before releasing...ED wouldn't be in business. They're not Microsoft or Apple. They can't absorb years and years or R&D and testing internally without starting to see some return on their investment.

Since dimensionally there is very little difference between different blocks ( yes I know there are some but not critical to our objectives) I think any and all schemes should be welcomed. Personally I want to see a boat load of Nellis liveries,

Judging from the orange paint on the tank I'd say you probably found a photo of a configuration test flight. In 22 years of flying and refueling F-16s I never saw one carrying 6 mavs

rel4y, When you're on your feet please let me know how to order 2 of the USB Standalone + Hall Sensor Kits. I sincerly hope you feel better soon. Sierra Sends

Yes. The only time I specify is if I'm dropping on a target in or around objects / scenery that could wind up between the bomb and the target causing the bomb to detonate prematurely.
-
Another option would be park the truck in plain view have the JTAC laze it and then instruct the player to bomb the correct building. (Called a "Talk on" in the real world.) You can put a single landmine on the roof of the target and set a trigger to activate when the landmine is destroyed.
-
Ya know this would be nice if we had the ability to add some of the runways and airfields not already modeled. I've always thought the Normandy map would see more use if there was a "Modern" version set say in the cold war time frame.

I have an E6B my Nav gave me for Christmas in 1987...my first year flying. She taught me how to do my own precomps and spin winds. I’m glad to see someone else using prototype equipment for flight sinking!
