  1. I see you have max pre rendered frames to 4. have you tried other settings? i've read that a setting of 1 increases performance in a lot of games.
  2. The APU is needed because it's not the electricity but exhaust gases that are needed to start the motors moving.
  3. The video is probably the HD 4870. Power supply looks like 475 watts. A video card upgrade would probably be the way to go, just watch the power supply requirements. Also if possible you could try overclocking the cpu some if the BIOS allows it.
  4. There isn't a right and left APU Generator. Those are for the main engines. Since you need the APU anyhow, why not just use the APU generator. Going with ground power will only slow the process since you have to wait for comms and the ground crew to do it's job. Also with the canopy open you should't have to select int to talk to ground crew. The only time I use ground power is during repairs if there is major damage.
  5. What OS are you using with the titan? If Win 7 Home edition max ram is 16gig. That includes the video ram. Also to consider is the CPU and ram of the machine.
  6. After the first engine is running turn on it's generator and turn off the apu generator and it will silence. If you accidentally turn off the apu gen first you'll lose power and have to start over. The APU gen does not have to be on through both engines but the APU itself does to start them.
  7. Edited Found that gear was down preventing all weps from firing.
  8. I had engine damage last night and all repaired well. I have had a couple of times in the past where it took a while and some patience to get them started. Biggest cause though is not having the throttles to the full off position before restarting.
  9. Do you still have the track? If so post it and we'll have a look
  10. You don't have to have the canopy open if you set the rotary comms switch to INT.
  11. Was there any fuel left in the tanks? easy to forget to check.
  12. I wound up with a roll and pitch curvature of 28 and can actually refuel. Still need hours more of practice to get proficient. I also have a deadzone set to 3 to prevent every little jerk of the stick from getting registered.
  13. The hogs can do it in game, Just have to be patient. When flying initial flights only bring AGM's until you know the SAM threat is gone. That way you have a more maneuverable plane.
  14. I found that if you don't mark a target as spi and just keep your tgp on target, it will usually wind up pretty close after a maneuver.
  15. Thats fine but very often, especially in multiplayer there isn't sead available so you have to dio it yourself.
  16. Spotting targets is something that will get better over time. A few things that will help are: 1. Altitude: Take some time and get some altitude before entering the enemy territory. If the enemy position is 40 miles north from the runway, try turning south, and climbing 8-10k with flaps in position 1 before turning north. Then turn north with a 5 degree climb so that you are 16k plus when you get to weps range. This allows the TGP to start up and gives you more time to search the target area. Higher altitude also allows you to see more area. 2. Throttle slew control. Make sure you have it set so that it moves quickly. If you have the warthog stick, adjust the saturation until you get results that work for you. The faster you can scan the faster you can locate targets. 3. Boat switch. Try using the TGP cold setting. (dark screen) The picure isn't as pretty but when you have the dark screen it's much easier to find targets which will show up as white specks. I like to switch back and forth but lately tend to use the dark mode to find the targets, then switch back to get a better identity of what I found. 4. Target identification: Use the encyclopedia in program to learn the shapes of each target. At first it's satisfying to kill the first thing you find, but if you want to use those cbu's or gbu's, you first have to eliminate the AA threat. Take your time and pick off the AA threats, then work on the easy stuff. 5. More in/out/left/right. When starting out people tend to look at a small area around the waypoint. Expand your search area some and include areas around roads, bridges or anywhere you would think to hide them. 6. Dont attack target areas until the previous one is destroyed: Some think they will run ahead and get the easy stuff before the previous area is finished. Here's the little secret. Missions use a thing called triggers. In order to get the maps to run smoothe mission makers use the triggers to hide contacts so that everything isn't showing the same time. This makes the game run much better but also keeps the objectives in order. What does it mean? Simple, the targets at WP2 will often not be there if you go looking until all the targets are destroyed at wp1. The ones at WP3 won't be there until WP2 are destroyed. Now each mission will have different setups. Just take the time and read the briefing before starting. The triggers are often noted there. (wont be called triggers but objectives) Once you remove the AA threats, keep your altitude. Manpads can pop up any time. Let the other players zip around low to find the remaining threats before going low yourself. Last is to remember once you finish off the targets in a waypoint area, take your time to climb again before hitting the next area. Many make the mistake of forgetting this. They take the time to eliminate AA in the first area, go low to finish off tanks etc and then race to the second area which is fresh with new AA. Happy flying :pilotfly:
  17. I'm sure the GAU has some type of vibration absorption built in. It might slow the plane some but the vibration would be similar to a car motor. You don't feel the vibrations as the cylinders fire in a car.
  18. Just checked. Wrag not on list
  19. I think it would be great if there were a selection of pilot gestures that could be keystroke activated. For instance one keystroke would be for salute another would be for waving. another would be shaking head yes or no etc etc Quite often we sit on the tarmac during start-up or pass someone while taxing. I always which I could send a hello gesture of some kind. It doesn't sound very difficult to do and would add a more personal touch.
  20. Actually that's not the case. Modern torpedo's if used correctly can hit their target before anyone knows the sub is around. Also the sub can be 10+miles away and with wire guidance can have the torpedo attack from a different direction. The torpedo can also travel on the opposite side of a thermal layer, masking the sound and pop through when close. Much different than WWII. Even when the basic location of a sub is known, if they dive deep and pick up speed they're very difficult to destroy. Often contact is lost and the attack repeats. (was my past life)
  21. I remember when the first 1 gig machines came out. didnt know what we would do with all that ram. Even farther back I remember when 1 meg machines came out. Also didn't know what it would be needed for. Or my first 20 meg hard drive. Now single files are larger.
  22. You should also be able to go to the process tab, right click on the process and assign affinity. That dedicates a core of your processor the the app. I don't think the program uses multi-cores so should work well.
  23. A little off topic but looking at some of the numbers that people put up for the hardware I kind of feel sorry for companies that make the software that the hardware is meant to be used on (such as dcs series). They do all the big work and get a measley 30 bucks for software while the hardware people make the big bucks. Actually people with the expensive hardware will often complain about the software price :music_whistling:
  24. I wonder if you could use the GAU to back up :music_whistling:
  25. Besides if you pulled in there's no way to get back out.
