I agree. I think it's just because it was such a beautiful aeroplane. I think the Rafale and the Typhoon were the last combat aircraft that we will see that are beautiful. Everyone has different opinions of course.

Considering purchasing, but how is flight model?
westr replied to Dugong's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
He's actually right in what he's saying in respect that the joysticks we purchase don't have the stick length you would find in a real combat aircraft. I purchased the longest extension I could find for my TM warthog and it changed the precision and feel significantly. I rarely add curves in DCS. We're I not using an extension it would be necessary. -
Oh my word you guys did it. I'm speechless.

37. It all started with Chuck Yeagers air combat.:pilotfly:

You can either use JSGME. But if you're not sure of that you can unzip then drag and drop into your main DCs directory. Just look at the way the download has been structured in terms of folders and do the same. And allow the new files to overwrite. Might be worth backing up your effected folders first if your unsure. It's well worth doing.

Is there a possibility we could have the ability to adjust colour settings in DCS in the future with the Oculus CV1, unless anybody already knows of a way to do it?
-
As far as I knew I thought big smoke is a static object you place on the Map in the ME and is not a trigger which would explain why it works from the start I may be wrong. With scenery destruction that is a outcome you set up in the trigger menu so that would work as a trigger option.

Hoping for a little bit more performance in VR. Fingers crossed.

What we know is that the Mi-24 is going to be really cool. I love that helicopter

If you mean anti-ship role there are Tornado variants that have anti-shipping role
-
In comparison to the number of aircraft operating in ODS there were many in the RAF that expected Tornado losses to be higher than it actually was due to the high risk nature of the initial raids, they also were not fully aware of the air defences of the Iraqis but knew that they had significant numbers of AAA batteries, they actually expected more air defence fighters as well, this didn't however materialise, mainly due to the F15 fighter sweeps. In the grand scheme of things when you take into account the scale of operations in the initial stages of the war allied losses were incredibly light, by the pure nature of the interdiction mission carrying heavy loads and often flying over airfields the Tornado was vulnerable but what aircraft wouldn't be flying such missions? Loft attacks obviously didn't require the aircraft to overfly the target area but still within close proximity of military installations. What was amazing was that no aircraft were lost carrying the JP233 runway denial weapon.

Sorry cant agree with that at all, please explain in detail how you come to that conclusion?
-
Having said all that the Straights of Hormuz would provide a really good hypothetical scenario for Tornado combat operations in DCS. As would the new Caucasus.
-
Yes RAF Tornado was involved in combat operations over the Balkans, but compare that with the Middle East operations, the number of Tornados involved in 91 including Italian Tornados, the involvement of Tornados during the 2nd Gulf war, and then the involvement of Tornado in both Libya and Afghanistan.
-
I agree that the gulf is not the environment the Tornado was designed for but it was the environment where the Tornado has seen combat.
-
F4U. Yes. You are absolute heroes.
-
If the Tornado was realeased by HB and is provided a Map as is the case with the F-14 the perfect environment is the one in which it saw its most combat use with largest numbers of aircraft. Iraq would be the perfect map IMO but we are talking a huge map to be realistic to combat operations. British Tornados would provide just as much enjoyment, the GR1 was very similar to the IDS variant. Like I said before TIALD was employed on the GR1. The JP233 was used to successful effect in combat in 91, as was the Alarm missile.

Great to know people are on it. Thanks

Really nice work. May I ask, would you consider trying to make a HMS Illustrious or Invincible mod in the future?

** F-14 Road to Release + Christmas Update!! **
westr replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I don't consider it a low not getting the F-14 just yet Nick. The module looks incredible I can see the undoubted progress you are making that's enough to have faith that you will deliver probably my favourite aeroplane of all time. Plus I can appreciate the new features that will be implemented in this module, that's why I forgive your 2017 prediction. Really excited about the pilot model for the Viggen. This answers the question for me that eventually we will see one for the Tomcat. Glad your having some time off over Christmas. Enjoy yourselves. Best wishes. -
Cobras quote stated Multi Seat jet aircraft.
-
Hopefully a Tornado and then maybe a Navy Phantom or an A5 Vigilante. The possibilities are endless. There are lots of cool multi-crew aircraft
-
Well I say that but I would just love to see a Tornado. But you know what I mean.
-
Well like has been stated it would be incorporating a lot of the software development that they have done on previous modules. Referring to the Viggen and the Tornado, the Tornado incorporates a lot of advanced technology with TFR and a capable ground mapping radar and even the GR1 was capable of carrying the TIALD self designating pod towards the end of desert storm for LGB strikes. Add to that the jp233 runway denial weapon, the variable geometry wing and the unique flight model involved. Plus aerial refuelling. I would say there is plenty there to set it apart from a Viggen. Most harrier variants were strike aircraft but they are vastly different to a Viggen or Tornado.

I have a hunch it's going to be a Tornado. Maybe it's wishful thinking but if it's true I wouldn't want any other developer to do it. My two favourite aircraft developed by heatblur the F-14 and Tornado IDS. Would be a dream come true.
