Impressive! I find it hilarious that both you and I are doing a "random" style mission, and we both base our missions out of the Krasnodar area (my mission is called Krasnodar Variable Ground Attack) Mine however is only ground attack, so it's awesome that you were able to also do Air-to-Air, and even the resupply stuff. I tried one of the Air-to-Air missions earlier, and figured that I should have my aircraft holding short of the runway before activating it. Because I activated the mission before engine start, and took a while to get to the runway, I was being radar locked 2 seconds after departure. Also tried a Multi-role with the SU-27, and an Air-to-Ground with the KA-50. It worked very well. Cool stuff. Keep up the great work! And thanks for sharing it with the community. - Apache600

Well hello again there dresoccer4 :) Mission 10 is a tough one, because it's so different than any other mission in DCS. You're not the first to ask about this, nor will you be the last. haha. I'll quick put in a link about this same thing from another thread. That should answer a lot of your questions. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=173422 be sure to check out my response which is the #3 post of that thread. And here's a link to a video I made specifically for mission 10: To answer your question about the picture you posted, that airport information page states "06 7,545ft" Which means you'll be departing on Runway 06 (so a heading of around 060) and the length of that runway is 7,545ft. The box just below that "Initial Departure Heading" tells you what speed you should do, as well as what altitude you should climb to. Here it says "Speed: 300" and ALT: On Deck. So keep as low as possible. Once you hit that first waypoint, which is the Outer Marker, you'll have to refer to the Special Routing Instructions. Have fun, this is one of my favorite missions. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. That youtube video should help quite a bit too. - Apache600

I just tested both the MiG-15 and the F-86 versions of this mission, and the triggers activated correctly. I stayed about 1/2 km or so behind the initial attack aircraft, so as to not impede any of their navigation. Regardless though, I'll certainly make these triggers a little larger in a future update (the next one coming out, v1.3 has already been submitted, so it'll probably have to be an update after that one) If for whatever reason you can't get past this, there's always the "Auto-success" option you can do (via F10 radio commands) within the first 30 seconds of the mission. Hope this helps, or that you can get through it without any issues. - Apache600

I just looked over the mission file, and for both the MiG-15 and F-86 campaign, I see a potential problem. Interestingly enough though, I've never encountered the issue you're mentioning in any of my testing. The potential issue I see is that the trigger zone, for spawning those helicopters, is a much smaller one than what I normally did with all my other triggers (I always give a little more buffer room for units to enter trigger zones in case they take slightly different routes) For the helicopters to spawn, The A.I. SU-25's (or A-10s) have to fly though a trigger to spawn the helo's. But like I mentioned, that trigger zone is kinda small ... but really shouldn't be missed by them if they're flying the prescribed route to the target (as a player, you should have no impact on that). Once that zone is entered, the helicopters spawn, and then the message of them being sighted, and the command for you to take them out, comes up. There should be NO WAY the helicopters spawn, and that command doesn't come up (because it's part of the same trigger action). So if you see the helicopters, but don't get a command ... shoot 'em down anyway :) Like I said, that should not be possible though. Unfortunately, the helicopter spawning is part of the sequence of events that must happen for a"Mission Success" to be attainable. - Apache600

Eye for an Eye Mission Game Performance
Apache600 replied to SharpeXB's topic in The Museum Relic Campaign
Next patch (Museum Relic v1.03) has reworked Mission 7. I have tested it several times. It is showing a huge game performance improvement over what it was doing! The lowest frame rate I'm getting now is in the low 20's (as opposed to single digits previously). I reduced the number of units on the battlefield, which certainly helped. But I think the biggest problem may have been that the rocket artillery (which has been removed) took out a sizable number of houses at the front line, and that DCS may have been having a hard time drawing up all the destroyed structures. -
Mission 3 with Mig-15, wrong mission brief
Apache600 replied to Redglyph's topic in The Museum Relic Campaign
This is as intended :) Good eye though. The "in-game" time between missions 2 and 3 is almost immediate, as the story states there was only time to unbolt the external's and refuel the internals. There wouldn't have been time for the pilot to make up a new Flt Plan page (That's why he still has the previous missions one.) After RTB, you should head on back to Sochi -
I made an NDB nav video a little bit ago, It focuses on the MiG-15 and F-86. But NDB's are the same no matter what aircraft you're in. Here's a link to that video: With the F-5, the NDB system it uses is the same as all the other planes EXCEPT for which NDB's it looks at. Unfortunately, the frequency range that the F-5 looks for are not same frequencies that the NDB's are in the Caucasus map. The best example I can think of is, imagine the settings on a radio (AM and FM) All the NDB's are tuned in for an AM radio station. But the F-5 can only look for FM stations. You can however, create your own "FM" NDB's in the mission editor though. -Apache600

F-86 Campaign finished, many thanks!

Thanks for the awesome write up Redglyph, I appreciate the critiques. I'm glad that you enjoyed the campaign! -
Lol, the aviation gods must have smiled upon you that day. Also odd that the game considered you dead, but you still passed the mission. I figure you must have received the "Mission Complete" text statement after landing? - Apache600

Eye for an Eye Mission Game Performance
Apache600 replied to SharpeXB's topic in The Museum Relic Campaign
Well, I just played through Mission 7 myself, and sure enough, got down to 7 fps for a second. At first I thought it was a result from the Rocket Artillery firing. But even after their salvo, the slow FPS continued. Looking towards the city, at close range to it, would usually give me an FPS number in the low teens. I'm figuring that this is due to the smoke plumes from all the dead units. I'll have to address this in a future patch. Sorry guys. And yeah, mission 6 start is just gonna bog down some PC's ... there's a bit going on there :) For taxi help with mission 6, check out this post: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=172199 post #7 has a taxi diagram / picture. As for the aircraft dispensing flares. In mission 7, the friendly ground pounders you meet up with fire off some for easier spotting. In mission 6 I have the enemy's fire some off because of the easy chance you could fly right past them without visual (given the altitude, terrain, and time of morning) This was done solely for the purpose of spotting the enemy flight. - Apache600 -

is this something that "calms" down after the battle progresses (and units are eliminated)? -
Eye for an Eye Mission Game Performance

Yikes!!! I run the same processor, half the ram, and a 780gti gb and I have no issues. (and run 2k graphics on a 32") Not sure what's going on. I don't have VR at all though. Are you getting hit hard with the frame rates over the battle portion east of Sukhumi? I made sure to avoid situations like this during my creation and testing. And did my best to hunt down any scenes that would cause frame-rate issues. I toned down one mission (#8.5) way back in the testing phase because that's the only spot I ever had a slow down. -
Mission 2 with Sabre, UH-60 crash on site
Apache600 replied to Redglyph's topic in The Museum Relic Campaign
known issue :/ I've tried fixing it, even in the recent patch (v1.02), but to no avail. Check this thread here for a little discussion on it. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=174511 -
I actually might have the briefing page wrong then. I figure, if you have the correct freq dialed in, and you hear something other than static, you're probably doing alright. Never a bad thing to check your work though. haha As for the sound cutting out, that is something I've found with the mission editor and the playback of recorded sounds. It works well most of the time, but it isn't 100% consistent. The "text message repeating" thing has always been an issue when turning freq knobs. I think it happens in every aircraft in the game. I personally just wait till the text box disappears before getting to work on the frequencies.
-
Haha, well the possibility is still there. I couldn't remedy the issue, but lord knows I tried. You are correct though, whether they collide or not, it does not effect the outcome of the mission.

What is it that you're looking to improve?

Glad you're enjoying the campaign! If you have any troubles with mission 10, check out this forum thread here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=173422 In post #3 of that thread I share some info, but more importantly I point out where you can find a youtube video I made of flying this mission from start to finish. That could probably help out if you get stuck. However though, if you made it to waypoint 6, it would seem to me that you're doing something right :) - Apache600

MiG-15/F-86 Campaign Announcement

Campaign will be split! Allowing the need for only one of the two aircraft https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=174221 -
Hello everyone! I am excited to share some great news with all of you. I just got word the other day from ED that they will be splitting the campaign into separate entities, allowing owners of just one of the two aircraft to purchase the campaign. No longer will you be required to have to own both the MiG-15 and F-86 to play. There will be some coding work that has to be done, and also a revamp to the store page. So I do not have either a time frame of release OR a price point. We'll be working out the details to see if there will be 3 purchase options. 1) a MiG-15 only 2) an F-86 only 3) a bundle of them together [like it is now]. However, I don't have any further details at the moment, so this is all speculation. What is certain though, is that it will be happening; that you only need to own one of the two platforms to have access to "The Museum Relic" campaign. I appreciate everyone's patience in the matter. And for those of you who may have purchased the other of the two aircraft to gain access to this campaign, I can't thank you enough. Your willingness and support, of all the dev's involved, to play this campaign are very much appreciated. As there is the Autumn sale going on in full swing right now, you certainly can't go wrong with picking up the other plane. Belsimtek did a fantastic job with their modeling of these aircraft. They are an absolute blast to fly! Thanks everyone, for your support thus far. - Apache600

Campaign complete! (Huge thanks!)
Apache600 replied to Pizzicato's topic in The Museum Relic Campaign
Hey there JG4! looking forward to hearing what you have to say about the campaign as you progress through it. The first few missions set the story, and then it really picks up. I hope this doesn't upset you to no end, but I just got word from ED that the campaign WILL be split so that owning both aircraft is not necessary. (i'll make a thread about this in the sub-froum) Now, with you saying you just bought the Mig. You can probably (but don't hold me to this, cause i really don't know) ask for a refund. Or ... if you're like me. Keep it because it is a FANTASTIC aircraft. On another note, my main beta tester (itscrisp) and I are looking into how to do just what you asked, put some of the important briefing pages into the kneeboard. So that all the VR guys can keep the needed info readily available.
