HF, I only run missions from the ME (except ED official ones from their own menu) and those missions are really basic stuff - dogfight practice, weapons training, free flights....that I've created myself. 99% of the time there's no issue but for whatever reason DCS sometimes elects to include all the other stuff. One poster suggested that this happens when you use the 'Prepare Mission' function, which might be true, but I never use 'prepare mission' so it's still a mystery.

  4. Any chance to add gun-sight brightness & instrument brightness axes to the controls?
  5. DCS is occasionally (randomly?) saving View.lua settings inside mission files so when you use that mission your custom views will not carry over beyond that mission. Try this - find the mission in which you were trying to save snap views and take a note of its size (in relation to other .miz files). If it's noticeably bigger then the mission is storing unwanted files and folders....including view settings. You can open the .miz with WinRar or whatever, delete the un-needed stuff, and then run it again.
  6. Also, can the animation be smoother? The canopy sliding is very j-j-j-j-juddery. (same goes for all the WW2 canopy animations)
  7. You land the plane safely. You want a fresh plane. But there's no obvious way to get one. Currently you have to either eject, go to the 'select role' menu and pick a different aircraft, or go back to the spectators then jump back into your slot. Just give us an option to end the flight.
  8. A vanilla G-6 would be an insta-buy for me. I'm much more interested in work-horse fighters than 'rock star' variants.
  9. The previous thread was closed on this cliff hanger.... ....and having only just picked up the Dora I couldn't help but notice the bar is still there. Was there ever any official decision about this?

  12. How about an option whereby the in-game controls do not start moving until the player's controls cross/match their settings? If you've used MIDI controllers you're probably familiar with this idea....it's to prevent sudden, potentially catastrophic, jumps in value (e.g. volume) when using shared knobs, faders etc. Currently in DCS if you spawn in the air at, say, 500kph the in-game controls will be set for 500kph....but the moment you move your physical ones the in-game counterparts 'jump' to match yours. This causes dramatic unwanted effects, particularly with WW2 aircraft. Here's a typical P-51 air start.... If the in-game throttle only started moving once the player's throttle crossed or matched its position there would be a smooth transition from AI flight to player control instead of the mad over/under-revving that we have now. (in case you're wondering the 'Synchronize HOTAS at mission start' option is not the same thing)

  18. It's not specific to the P-51 but the recent cockpit update highlights the problem of lighting ignoring solid objects.
  19. Spotting in DCS is hard at the best of times and it's made worse because the sky is un-realistically dark at low altitudes. Maybe it's the HDR settings causing it but whatever the reason it's way off. This is June 1st at 10 in the morning at ground level looking straight up..... As a quick comparison this is me sticking my phone out of the window at 13:00 on December 22 (second shortest day of the year)....
  20. Just wondering - v2.5 has been with us a year now but the problem of light sources penetrating solid objects remains. Runway lights shining through the cockpit, corn fields lighting up foot-wells, anti-collision lights ignoring the airframe.....etc Is this something we'll have to put up with or is it going to be fixed? No doubt ED know about it so I wonder if there's some deeper problem?
  21. My first play after updating was choppy but subsequent flights have been OK (well, DCS's version of OK). I put it down to DCS re-arranging its insides.
  22. It really is. From the WIP screenshots I wasn't sold but once you're in the cockpit it all makes sense. There's something creepily realistic about the textures and lighting. I just hope all the older modules get a make-over.

I understand your reasoning....but....it never used to do this - 'Central mode' previously worked just like the Mi-8 and Huey - requiring you to center the stick before accepting any more input. That was the whole point of Central mode. But now there's no difference between 'Default' and 'Central' - which makes me suspect it's a bug.
