  1. Thanks for the tip - I just downloaded Reflected's skins and they're gorgeous. Are they going to be adopted as the new Default skins?
  2. How about an option whereby the in-game controls do not start moving until the player's controls cross/match their settings? If you've used MIDI controllers you're probably familiar with this idea....it's to prevent sudden, potentially catastrophic, jumps in value (e.g. volume) when using shared knobs, faders etc. Currently in DCS if you spawn in the air at, say, 500kph the in-game controls will be set for 500kph....but the moment you move your physical ones the in-game counterparts 'jump' to match yours. This causes dramatic unwanted effects, particularly with WW2 aircraft. Here's a typical P-51 air start.... If the in-game throttle only started moving once the player's throttle crossed or matched its position there would be a smooth transition from AI flight to player control instead of the mad over/under-revving that we have now. (in case you're wondering the 'Synchronize HOTAS at mission start' option is not the same thing)

  8. It's not specific to the P-51 but the recent cockpit update highlights the problem of lighting ignoring solid objects.
  9. Spotting in DCS is hard at the best of times and it's made worse because the sky is un-realistically dark at low altitudes. Maybe it's the HDR settings causing it but whatever the reason it's way off. This is June 1st at 10 in the morning at ground level looking straight up..... As a quick comparison this is me sticking my phone out of the window at 13:00 on December 22 (second shortest day of the year)....
  10. Just wondering - v2.5 has been with us a year now but the problem of light sources penetrating solid objects remains. Runway lights shining through the cockpit, corn fields lighting up foot-wells, anti-collision lights ignoring the airframe.....etc Is this something we'll have to put up with or is it going to be fixed? No doubt ED know about it so I wonder if there's some deeper problem?
  11. My first play after updating was choppy but subsequent flights have been OK (well, DCS's version of OK). I put it down to DCS re-arranging its insides.
  12. It really is. From the WIP screenshots I wasn't sold but once you're in the cockpit it all makes sense. There's something creepily realistic about the textures and lighting. I just hope all the older modules get a make-over.

I understand your reasoning....but....it never used to do this - 'Central mode' previously worked just like the Mi-8 and Huey - requiring you to center the stick before accepting any more input. That was the whole point of Central mode. But now there's no difference between 'Default' and 'Central' - which makes me suspect it's a bug.

  15. The Mustang liveries have been updated - previously they had a blockiness to the specular layer (I think that's the correct term) but now they're fine.

  21. Why? Well, you've got the VTOL bit nailed so simply flying around and landing on things you ought not to will be great fun. And compared to the AV-8B the avionics are much simpler; no MFDs, FLIRs, Lasers or any of that stuff. Also when the new Kuznetsov model arrives it would be a perfect marriage. Yes it was a bit crappy in performance and payload but so what - it's such an interesting subject. Sometimes a bit too interesting....

  23. Just tried the same mission and Mavs un-caged fine. Had a hell of a time getting the Sidearms to launch (and when they did they missed) but the IRMVs worked OK.

  25. I've read somewhere that for the time being the dedicated server is being tested on servers with little or no scripting to help diagnose problems.
