I can't even find the default S-3 liveries folder any more. It's no longer in the Bazaar folder, and doing an Explorer search of the entire DCS root results in zero results except for a zip file in "HeavyMetalCore" that doesn't even have a description.lua. That said, I tried using "KS_3A" instead and they still didn't work.

For comparison, the $10 upgrade to the A-10C brought us entirely new and complex systems like the HMD, and many artwork upgrades, plus FM fixes, were also transfered to the original A-10C even if you didn't purchase the $10 upgrade. As it stands now, the F-5 upgrade does not bring the same value as the A-10C-II upgrade did.

F-14 Carrier Ops Campaign on Frozen Fjords in Kola
Nealius replied to Horns's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
The Vestfjord is big enough for one carrier to move fairly well, but would get very crowded both on the water and in the air with two. I wonder how they juggled them...alternating cycles maybe? -
F-14 Carrier Ops Campaign on Frozen Fjords in Kola
Nealius replied to Horns's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I had heard similar from discussions on other forums. Carrier operating in the Vestfjord for geographic protection from seaborne threats and the RNoAF BARCAP'ing the east. -
F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)
Nealius replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Juicy! Been waiting for some more mid-90s skins. Is there a skin to change the hull number on Forrestal for Independence? I thought there was one but I can only find Ranger. Alternatively, is there a layered paintkit for the Forrestal? I took a gander at the .dds files but don't know how I would replace the number without makign them look freshly painted. -
And repeadetly fire his .38 while you hit the starter and booster coils.

In practice that has never kept AI from parking on top of statics on the Patio or Junkyard, and fouling the LA with either the nose or the disembarked pilot.
-
That part in particular is problematic because it effectively means that statics can only be placed on spawn spots.
-
As demonstrated in Wags' video I don't see how this is going to work with multiple jets in the pattern. Taxiing out of the LA after trap took way too long, and being immediately directed to parking without control over where we're parked fouls the deck for anyone in the groove.

After nearly a month of trying the "quit to desktop" method I've found that the "lastmission" track file is 100% functional for me.

Something seems to have been broken with the S-3/Tanker liveries in a recent update. Not only user liveries like this, but even defaults that come with official campaigns all show as a blank gray "727" bird.

The new raindrop effects like to pool on the windscreen at approach speed and cause more distortion than the old effects do, making linup difficult or sometimes impossible. Previously there wasn't a need for the windshield air rain repel function to actually work, but with the new rain effects we need it to help clear the windscreen for safe lineup in rainy CASE IIIs.

....while parked with the brakes set? Trying to reproduce but can only do so after a full 40+ minute flight. With a hot ground start I can reproduce minor movements but nothing as severe as what's experienced after a longer flight. Original conditions: Kola, Severomorsk-1 (258ft elev.), real-world weather injected to .miz with the following parameters: -surface winds 7kts 120 -winds aloft 47kts 300 / 50kts 147 -OAT 3C -QNH 29.72 -Turbulence 39 -aircraft parked with heading 225 In this track I'm trying to reproduce on Caucausus with the same parameters, however my elevation choices are 150ft or 500ft+ so I went with 460ft at Mozdok with the same weather parameters and aircraft start hot on ground heading 225, 60% fuel and no stores to simulate a lighter post-mission load. From mission start you can see the nose alread starts to shift left. I taxi around a bit (poorly) and stop at various points to see what happens. The nose can be observed moving/wobbling around slightly. Now after a longer mission and landing, the degree of this movement is much more severe, often causing a 20-degree turn before stopping. One thing I noticed from looking at the controls indicator, the parking brake / latched brake is indicating almost half strength compared to using the brake axis. It's really frustrating to reproduce issues that only occur after longer flights because no one bothers to check a track that's longer than 5 minutes. LastMissionTrack.trk

I’m not. I’m taxiing to parking. Parking happens to be perpendicular to the wind because that’s how airbases have their parking designed. Yes brakes are set. On a second flight I noticed that the aircraft will weathervane itself against the wind (i.e. nose downwind tail upwind) whenever the wind is from the starboard aft quarter despite 0 collective and brakes set. Yaw AP off as well. When parking opposite direction (wind from port forward quarter) this spin does not occur. By “wind” I’m talking 6-7 knots, which should be negligible.
-
Necroposting because I constantly have issues with the thing spinning uncontrollably once I get to my parking spot and have the parking brake on. Collective all the way down with pitch gauge reading 0. In my case, it consistently happens when there's winds (6-7kts) from the aft-right quadrant. If I park with my nose oriented in the opposite direction, with winds hitting my front-left quadrant, it doesn't spin. But it only happens after I land and park, never on startup despite being oriented in the same way relative to the wind.

correct as is 64D PNVS problems in VR Quest 2
Nealius replied to Chesster's topic in Bugs and Problems
While correct, this causes significant issues with night combat in VR as our headsets obscure our view of how are head is orientated relative to the real world, making it excessively difficult in determining if the image is tilted, which direction it is tilted, and by how much it is tilted. On numerous occasions I've tilted my head one way to fix the image, only to see it rotate opposite what my brain was telling me it should have been rotating. TrackIR users can simply turn off their roll axis. Even with the axis on, the amount of head movement required to see around the 3/9 line isn't significant to introduce any PNVS tilt anyway. In VR, however, the head can tilt quite excessively. In some cases (like me) my head has a natural tilt tendency even when looking straight ahead, which I am only able to notice and correct by visually referencing my PNVS box with the dashboard. Additionally, the headset fitment on an individual’s face may be tilted even when the head is upright due to uncontrollable reasons. Stabilized or not stabilized should be an option, as 2d users can easily cheat this by turning off their head tracking roll axis. -
USN Thermal Protection on Bombs (green vs. gray)
Nealius replied to Nealius's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Strangely there's one bomb, I think the Mk84 but I'll have to check, that ends up being green when selecting the "USN" visual in the rearm screen. -
Help getting highest INS accuracy for pre-planned popups

@QuiGon When I have time to prioritize unpaid beta testing on Caucasus I will revisit this. For the moment I need a break from tedium. -
Help getting highest INS accuracy for pre-planned popups
Nealius replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
The PR managers/beta testers/officials I was interacting with have all the terrains. Nowhere did I expect people other than them, nor specifically you, to have Kola. -
Bomb Fuzes options in the rearming panel
Nealius replied to graveyard4DCS's topic in General Tutorials
Very pedantic correction, but the thermal coating isn't exclusively gray. Before the "gray era," that started some time around OIF/OEF, the bombs were still painted green, but had the same thermal coating. The primary indicator of thermal coating is double or triple yellow stripes (IIRC three stripes is a specific explosive filler?) vs. single yellow stripe for bombs without thermal protection. I had a long writeup about this with a lot of research put into it, but ED in all its genius moved it away from the sim research section to the wishlist dungeon where no one can find it. -
Help getting highest INS accuracy for pre-planned popups
Nealius replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I specifically said Kola in the very first post of the thread. And again on the 10th post, where I posted the initial track file. And again on the 13th post. -
May be placebo, but the display text seems more readable on this update compared to the last ones.

This, 1000x this. The total lack of updated DCS documentation over the last year or so, perhaps even two years, has been straining my patience with ED modules. For a while we got by with Chuck’s Guides and searching the deep net for real manuals, but now more advanced features are added or changed with zero DCS-specific documentation, and the relevant real world documentation isn’t publicly available so we’re completely in the dark.

F14 replay track jester menu stuck in the middle of the screen
Nealius replied to ponch17's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Does this also disable the menu from general use, or does it only affect replay tracks?
