One of my motors has stopped working completely. It there a safe way to open it to see where the problem is? I have the green special edition. Is it more likely to be a broken motor or broken wire?
-
You took these photos straight out of your hornet? Is it possible the newer model hornets have different cockpit lighting?

I too am surprised. All that SSAA did for me (Rift) is make everything look impossibly zoomed in. It's not even relevant for VR, because essentially it's the same as pixel density. SSAA upscales the resolution to a higher one and scales it down again. So basically it's pixel density for monitors. I'm surprised you get no fps drop, as you're running at a much higher resolution.

That all seems weirdly specific. I doubt that it's the real plot and characters.

Sorry to be an elitist, but I would not like to see EDs and third party's already stretched resources put into simplifying modules.

This is great! I'm really happy to see the MiG-21 getting some much-needed updates in the last weeks. The rain drops look awesome. It's one of my favourite modules in DCS.

I had this very dilemma about a year ago. I also had the fear, that resolution is just not up to par yet, and that VR might be a nice gimmick, but is not quite there yet as a viable alternative to a monitor. I was wrong. Cons: Yes, the resolution makes some cockpit labels a challenge to read. But it's manageable. You might have the feeling targets are harder to spot, but this was always a challenge on monitors too. It's harder to use the keyboard, but having everything mapped to a HOTAS, and having the mouse nearby, it's actually pretty good. Pros: It looks and feels amazing. Finally you are actually sitting IN the aircraft. It's not just a little screen attached to your head. Everything is in 3D and looks as if you can touch it. It just feels wrong to play DCS on a screen now. It's firmly a VR experience for me.

I don't think they considered Australian time zones when they announced the release date :D

This could easily be released as a free map. It would take minimal effort to create.

Any explanation for move to Deferred Shading in 2.5.1 from Devs?
Boris replied to Charlie-1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
While I totally understand some of the annoyance here, I can completely understand why this move was made. The difference in lighting between "deferred shading off" and "deferred shading on was vast". ED doesn't have the resources to support and balance two sets of lighting conditions. Deferred shading off often looked terrible. I see many flaws in the new lighting, but I'm sure they'll be addressed. Performance is also an issue, which I hope will get some improvements over time. -
First of all, I am very happy with this map so far. I love the attention to detail. I'm also glad we finally have a second modern day map, that allows for many great combat scenarios. What I did notice though, is that the map colours were a little underwhelming and dull. Having flown via Dubai many times and looking out the window, I remember the buildings (especially the suburban houses) to be much brighter, usually light sand colours or white. On the PG map I see them as dark greys. Also, the cars are very dark and grey. The greatest amount of cars on middle eastern roads are white. Yet there is not a single white car to be seen. Is this a shader issue? (maybe I should delete the shaders folder?)

This is probably taking nitpicking to a whole new level, but this should clearly show that the skin has the wrong roundel proportions. I have compared to the roundel on the actual hornet that stratojet posted, to avoid any debate. The outer ring is too thin.
-
This clearly shows that the roundels on the ED screenshots are the wrong proportion. The ED skin appears to have roundel proportions akin to the current Royal Air Force roundel: Or the company logo of "Target": The Spanish roundel has the proportions of the older (pre 1947) RAF roundel:

I too have no problems in VR and prefer to use my Rift exclusively. I don't miss a monitor at all.

Purchasing the Persian Gulf Map for MP, who's buying it?
Boris replied to F900EX's topic in DCS: Persian Gulf
Already bought... Multiplayer or not, I want this map. -
What will the final water textures be for Persian Gulf?
Boris replied to Keakaha's topic in DCS: Persian Gulf
Judging from Google Maps, those islands do have quite a few beaches. -
Call me an elitist, but I'd rather see the opposite and would love to have all of the FC3 aircraft as fully fledged modules.
-
Would you buy a fictional aircraft?

This is exactly how I felt for a long time and I held off committing on VR for months. 800x600 on 4k is an exaggerated analogy, but it's true that the resolution is no where near as clear and crisp as on a 4k screen. But I'm really glad I transitioned. The difference is that you actually feel like you're sitting in the cockpit. The thing I also didn't fully realize until i got VR, ist that everything is in full 3D. It looks like you can reach out and touch the cockpit. Also, your head movement is tracked 1:1 and is perfectly natural. No more scaled head movement a la TrackIR.

This would be perfect for DCS. I hope the ED devs take note.
-
You'd think it'd be as easy as just going to the "edit" tab and selecting "flip" :D Obviously there must be more to it.
-
I'm not expecting a feature complete Hornet for another year or so. Not a critique, just a recognition that things take their time with DCS. I probably won't be flying it a lot until everything is implemented. Plenty of other modules to keep me occupied until then.
-
I actually see this as very good news. As DCS is very demanding, this means less fps required to get to max capability and smoothness. I doubt there will be much of a perceptible difference between 80 and 90 fps.
