  1. Yes, much disappointment. At this time frame for product release, VKB will eat Thrustmaster's lunch in the higher end flight sim controls market. Also bodes well for upstarts like hegykc. Been watching his development pace since the beginning and keep hoping he is able to meet expectations, his and ours.
  2. Operating system is Win 10. The hardware is in my sig.
  3. Who would have ever believed that providing representative old aircraft models for flight sims would read like a Sherlock Holmes mystery. How did we get here? Does it ALL come down to pure greed on the part of the intellectual property owners?
  4. It's hard to appreciate the problems others are having when one doesn't have those problems or can't duplicate them in order to pin down a solution. Like Oubaas, I am NOT having any of the issues you are experiencing. Yes, the Hawk does have some bugs (it's still Beta and the bugs are being addressed), but beyond that, both 1.5 Final release and 2.0 NTTR Alpha are both working quite well on my system. And I do not have any of the TrackIR issues you mentioned either. Provide the docs BIGNEWY requested and perhaps he can help nail it down. A complete re-install for both maps may be in your future. When there are problems as you described but are applicable to a larger number of users, then I think ED is probably at fault more or less. But with all the various systems, and diverse community that they provide their work to, little wonder that SOME will have issues. Good luck and don't give up. DCSW is as good as it gets, even in their ever evolving state.
  5. Not just you. Only speaking for myself, but I to have too often overlooked the obvious when I run into an issue. I have become pretty regular at checking all my controller assignments after every update.:book: They don't all change all the time, but some do change within a particular module. Glad you sorted it out. I really enjoy the F-86:pilotfly:
  6. You da man! Thanks Skate! This is a thing of beauty.
  7. Skate, You da man! I have a custom skin that Crazy Eddie did for me of a representation of a USMC FJ-4 for VMA-343. As you might imagine, they are pretty much porked now with all the graphics upgrades since he did them and haven't heard from Crazy Eddie in awhile. Any chance you could clean those existing "Furies" up for the latest iterations? Would be much appreciated.
  8. Too bad the thread took a rabbit trail; instead of staying on topic regarding the current issues with the AI. ED is more than aware of this issue as it has been beat to death for years. As to MP v SP, it is a matter of preference and whatever arena one chooses, the "opposition" should not have unrealistic capabilities. If they do in single player, it detracts from the immersion as the OP said. If one chooses to join a MP session and all the other pilots are hours and hours of experience ahead of the newbie, that newbie will probably NOT be back. One may join an MP session to get their feet wet, but they should also be able to learn much of their skill training in Single player IF the AI was more realistic.
  9. Most have been there. I almost gave up trying to land the Mustang:(, until I listened to those same instructions that have been supplied to you. My problem was when I touched down, I thought I had to give "back stick" to keep the real wheel down on the ground. Wrong! All that does is give more lift and cause me to leave the runway and then bounce back down once that lift was lost.:joystick: The real secret for me was forcing myself to go against my natural instinct and apply a little forward stick. I still bounce on occasion but that is because I become too complacent and always think "I got it". You have to fly the plane Sir, until it is stopped at it's parking spot:D As to the two-wheeled landing. I tried and tried and finally just fell back on the "let'er settle in" 3-point approach. I was ruining too many props trying the 2-point.:music_whistling:
  10. And win the lottery!!:music_whistling:
  11. I haven't noticed that particular issue, but when in the F2 outside view and I zoom out the port landing light in the nose of the aircraft disappears and there is an obvious "hole" through which one can see the sky and terrain. Apparently there were some graphics issues introduced with the last update for the F-86. Haven't noticed any of these problems with any other module.
  12. "No because here I'm just talking about drawing the textures differently, not increasing their resolution. And it's the resolution that is mostly responsible for the textures size and hit on frames per second." Gotcha. Instead of the low altitude sense of blotchiness, more defined and refined renderings of the details. Irrespective of resolution, does not added "detail" also require additional rendering power? As you may have picked up on, I AM NOT a graphics Geek. Just trying to understand.
  13. Fragile? I spent three years in A-4 "Scooter" squadrons in the early 60's. Was an Aircraft Structural Mech by MOS, but also dabbled in Hydraulics, Ordinance, Plane Captain, etc. In ALL my time with these birds, Carrier Quals, Yuma, Fallon, El Centro, never once do I recall a front landing gear collapse or any plane coming in for repair for damage to that gear. I was in both VMA-121 and VMA-311 so it wasn't that just one squadron was luckier than another. We actually had four operational A-4 squadrons at MCAS El Toro at any given time during those days and I honestly don't recall having ever heard of this issue in any of those other units as well. Not saying it couldn't happen, anything is possible, but in all my experience I never saw such a weakness.
  14. My sense is that ED has us where they can as regards terrain detail without driving many of the systems out there to their knees. All that fine detail most desire costs rendering power. Where would one suggest they scavenge that power simply to provide more detailed eye candy? Flight model? Cockpit detail and function? As GPU and CPU powers and abilities increase as they always have, I feel ED WILL use those more powerful future hardware assets to give us what we are wishing for. Patience I think is the key word. That's just my view, your milage may vary.
  15. Was just flying the ground attack mission in the F-86F Quick Missions. Went to an outside view and everything looked normal, but when I started zooming out with my mouse in external view, the port landing light within the fuselage nose section disappeared and I could see terrain and sky through the hole. May have been there before the latest update, but I never noticed it before. Could it be some graphics setting? I haven't changed anything other than the update today.Anyone else notice this before I accept it as only a problem on my end?
  16. It'll come. I think at some point we have to appreciate that we simply cannot have ALL the eye candy we desire without driving our FPS into single digits. Yes, over time hardware advances will permit more and more of that type of stuff and I imagine based upon their track record, ED will be right on top of it. Currently I see more people complaining about not being able to run DCSW smoothly than I do complaints about graphical details. I think patience is in order.:music_whistling:
  17. Also this. "In addition to showing off the Gazelle, we will also be providing a first look at a massive texture overhaul DLC of the Caucasus map done by Starway. More information on this will be coming. That from Wags, so it sounds as though we now know where Starway has been hiding these last several weeks:music_whistling:
  18. Hoot! Man those pics bring back memories. Can't recall the number of LAU1 rockets we loaded into the canisters as well as belting 20mm in the ordinance shack at NAS Fallon, NV. Boy, was I ever young back then.:music_whistling:
  19. Yep. ^ This.
  20. Just thinking back a few of months ago when we were all waiting for the NTTR map. Was just flying the A-10C CAS quick mission and returned to Nellis. I gotta say, every time I look around outside the pit, I am so amazed at what ED has given us. I been at this flight sim stuff since the mid -90's and I would never have imagined it would evolve to the point it has. I suppose it will only get better from here . Thanks again ED for the many, many hours of enjoyment.
  21. After having my JetSeat for some months now, I think it is the best thing since sliced bread. Now I can't imagine simming without these effects.
  22. Yes. I mentioned this under 'Skins and Liveries". My USMC skins that Crazy Eddie made now look like glossed over Air Force repaints. Hope it can be corrected by our illustrious "skinners".
  23. I don't think this is a bug so I thought I would post it here in case someone else has had a similar issue and resolved it. Just did the latest updates to the Release Version and Open Beta. When I go to the Mission Editor and try to select a livery for the P-51 Mustang, there are none to choose from. The liveries all show in the Bazar "liveries" folder for the Mustang but not available in the ME. I can change liveries for the FW-190 however, just not the Mustang. If I try to hit "Fly" it simply stays on the "loading" screen until I CTRL ALT DELETE out. I don't have the issue in the Open Beta. Even copied the files from the OB to the Release Version but still no joy. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks. Edit: Did a second repair and the 2nd one seems to have resolved the issue.
  24. Fallon would be a great addition. I can identify with it having had multiple deployments to that facility while attached to my Marine A-4 squadrons. Of course I was too young to be allowed on the "sin side" of Fallon's main drag and the Shore Patrol made sure we stayed on the "soul saving" side of the street. BORING!!!
  25. What happened? Yo Crazie Eddie, The USMC skins you made some time back. Seems with the newest updates I am having an issue. Attached a screenshot so you can see the issue. It seems the USAF sold some birds to the Marines and the old USAF ensigns are still very apparent. Any recommendations on how to get back to the original ones? Thanks.
