  1. Thanks @Ansirial! What's the status on the leaderboards? There's definitely some funny math going on - specifically on your Greenie Board leaderboard. Thanks
  2. A prequel? Nice. Flip as a JO. Looking forward to it, @baltic_dragon. I assume a 2022 planned release?
  3. Bump - I was just about to ask this as well
  4. Yeah, if you're not cleared contact by the AAR platform, the sim doesn't let you interact with the basket. Hope that's the problem. Also, there's a dedicated Raven One forum in case you have other specific questions. https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/617-fa-18c-raven-one-campaign/
  5. Thanks to both of you!! @Sedlo - mainpanel_init.lua was the unlock. I now know where argument 240 comes from. @Rudel_chw - Thanks. I was trying to use your technique but couldn't figure out the tooltip as 240 wasn't part of the text.
  6. Right on, thanks. So I brute forced my way to the answer by deconstructing an existing ED mission. Where do I find these "arguments"? I presume they are tucked neatly away in a LUA file somewhere, possibly in the scripts folder under cockpits. Thanks.
  7. I should have thought of this earlier ... how does ED do it? I checked out their cold start mission and found their method So yup, you were correct, @Sedlo. The "argument in range" seems to be the ticket. I never would have gotten the min/max figured out, so I'm glad I checked. Thanks!
  8. I am trying to set a mission trigger when the pilot parks the jet and sets the parking brake. Seems simple enough, but I have gotten myself into uncharted waters and need a lifeline. I recognize I likely need to use the mysterious "X:COCKPIT" commands from the ME. Since I have no clue what code is associated with the parking brake, I downloaded DCS-BIOS. I can see whenever I set/re-set the parking brake the following two codes go from 0 to 1. So I therefore THINK I need to setup a one time trigger in DCS that looks like <- EMERGENCY_PARKING_BRAKE_ROTATE <-- EMERGENCY_PARKING_BRAKE_PULL For some reason, I cannot get the message to trigger. I even added a TIME MORE(10) to the conditions to make sure I wasn't triggering the event at mission start. I'm sure I am doing something silly. Who can assist? Thanks.
  9. One feature that the Etsy seller includes is a magnetic throttle detent. He's got a 10mm press fit receptacle (circled in image below) printed on the slide and includes the magnets and double sided tape to set everything up. If you watch his videos, you'll see he wanted to establish a center detent for the TWCS. I have no use for a center detent (space sims), but his solution got me thinking. How could I manufacture something like his solution that would allow me to establish the proper detent for DCS jets? I liked the magnetic option and started thinking about a solution. I own a 3D Printer, so I went out to Thingiverse to see if someone had already solved my problem and sure enough there are several solutions out there. Here were my requirements: Adjustable. The detent needed to be adjustable because DCS Jets don't all share the same Afterburner Detent profiles. The AB setting on the Hornet is different than the Viper or Tomcat. Removable or non-invasive. I didn't want to ruin my TWCS with this mod. IF I ever sell this (highly doubtful), I wanted a way to remove the mod elegantly. Accurate. I wanted something adjustable, yet still accurate. Something I could setup for different jets and work as designed. I settled on this particular design over on Thingiverse Adjustable? Check Removable? Check Accurate? TBD (Edit Feb 10, 2022 - Yes. I can slide up to the magnet at MIL power and it has worked for almost a year) I didn't have the proper sized magnets for this design, so I modified it to accept 6mmx2mm sized Neodymium Rare Earth Magnets I had laying around. A couple hours later I had my print done. I even had Orange filament to match the TM color scheme! There are essentially 3 parts to this mod 1. Carriage that mounts to the base of the TWCS 2. Adjustable magnet receiver 3. Magnetic mount on the slider handle If there's interest in how I set this up, I am happy to elaborate. I used command strips to affix the carrier to the TWCS. I hot glued the Magnetic mount to the slider handle (yeah, I probably violated my rule #2). There are 2mm bolts that "squeeze" the carriage so the adjustable receiver doesn't freely move around. I am a VR pilot, so I now "feel" the AB detent. It isn't overly obtrusive and doesn't prevent precise throttle movement (even around the detent). And, yes ... this is accurate. I have this dialed in perfectly so when the magnet catches, I'm at 100% mil power. Does it look awesome? Not really. Is it functional? Absolutely. Figured I'd post this nugget here for those interested in how to establish an adjustable TWCS detent.
  10. I grabbed SH2 from the DCS store to support you, @Badger633. Looking forward to it and your next campaign. thanks for all the hard work!
  11. INVERTED did this with Rising Squall and it was great. I think they did it with brute force meaning they had multiple copies of the same mission depending on which checkpoint you were at, AND ... it only saved during the overall mission. Meaning you couldn't quit and then come back to a mission save point, you had to start the mission fresh. BUT it was a nice touch for sure. Love for ED to figure out a way to make this a ME feature somehow.
  12. A shout out to the INVERTED team. Well done. I completed the campaign over the weekend and have to admit, it left me wanting more. Good job. Looking forward to the sequel. I am a LONG time DCS veteran, but despite my years of support, yours is the first campaign I’ve ever completed. Thanks for making it something this intermediate Hornet pilot could complete (when I started, I considered myself a beginner). I was drawn to this campaign by your commitment to the story and your goal of “...by inverting the hardcore, we want to make the virtual fighter jet experience more accessible and "fun" while remaining true to the hardcore nature of a combat flight sim”. I’d say you did a great job in this! Also, I am not an Ace Combat person so any homage to that brand was lost on me. Some things I liked Briefings that include pre-requisites and where to read up in the manual. Duration of missions were pretty good (30 min “ish”) Using waypoints to designate target areas along with smoke Difficulty was “just right”. Very few missions were 1 and done. Some were completed in a couple tries and others required a trip to the DCS forum for assistance. Nothing felt overly impossible (albeit M12 got close). Some things I’d change Wasn’t a huge fan of the liveries. Probably captured the anime theme, but just wasn’t “my thing”. The voice acting. I had heard this criticism before playing so I was prepared … there are some real “nails on the chalkboard” moments. I overlooked the laughing/giggling and what I perceived as immersion breaking radio chatter. I got used to it, and overlooked how annoying I found it. Some might not, I get it. For me, this was the one element of real criticism. Some things I loved The story. I found myself actually caring about what happened and where this is going. What happened to Diana? What’s the state of B&P? What happens next for Ming? Music. I find this an odd thing to have here. I went into this campaign thinking I’d turn off the music. But, I gave it a chance. By the third mission I was hooked. It made the campaign, and my participation in it, feel more like a cinematic experience. Auto AAR. When I first started this campaign, I couldn’t AAR. Knowing I didn’t need to learn this difficult skill was a HUGE selling point for me. Thanks! Mission checkpoints. Thanks for taking the time to make this work. Based on what I could tell, you had to brute force this using multiple copies of the same mission. I definitely used this feature and was pleasantly surprised at how often it came into play. I’ll wrap this up by saying, this was a real joy to experience. I’m glad I came into it with an open mind and wasn’t too swayed by the negative opinions about the Voice Acting. I had fun and would definitely recommend – especially to anyone who might be more of a beginner to the Hornet or campaigns in general. Thanks INVERTED!
  13. So I managed to complete this mission and therefore the campaign. I am glad I purchased the campaign! Thanks.
  14. After 2 launches I was getting frustrated because I couldn't see the target in the SLAM image. Then my wingman jumps in - wham! At least there was some cool cleanup tasking for me. BOOM!
  15. @Badger633 - Loving this campaign. I finished Rising Squall and Started Raven One. I chose to start this campaign just to see how long each mission took. Raven One missions can get long and I was hoping for a little quicker mission. I chose to Necro this thread to give a little visibility to your prequel to the paid DLC campaign in the DCS Store. Just want to say thanks for putting this together. I loved the intro mission in Nevada. The formation flight was cool and I enjoyed the course changes and radio chatter. I also enjoyed the right break element you introduced on landing. I opened the ME to see how you scripted those interactions. Nice. How long did it take you to create this campaign? I enjoy the story telling aspect of the campaign. Maybe, someday, I will put something like this together for others to enjoy as well.
  16. Note, I am not affiliated with the Etsy seller, CoreHawk3D. Here’s the public quote I left the seller on Etsy: I am at a loss for words. If you own a T16000m Throttle, and don't have this, STOP reading and order it NOW. First off, this 3D print is a thing of beauty. I have both Filament and Resin 3D printers and don't know how CoreHawk3D produced such a beautiful print. Its a darn shame it is locked away inside the throttle. The only thing better than the quality is the way it works. Seriously, this turned my Throttle into a completely different animal. Before the Impulse, I fought the throttle, never able to actually achieve a smooth and consistent speed. This made formation flight, AAR and carrier landings (just to name a few) more difficult that they already were. Now that I know what a smooth throttle feels like, I am kicking myself for putting up with the poorly engineered T16000m for all these years. Thanks CoreHawk3D! 2 weeks later I feel the same way. I only wish I had heard about this simple upgrade years ago. I learned to accept the sticky TWCS feeling and candidly wasn’t really bothered by it. As a ham-fisted pilot, I never really noticed the issue. It wasn’t until I started getting a little more serious with the Hornet that I started getting frustrated with the imprecise engineering that went into the TM product. I was especially frustrated by my inability to perform AAR, Formation Flight, and Carrier Landings after countless hours of practice. I’d learn after installing the Impulse Slider that most of my issues stemmed from my inability to make small throttle adjustments. The sticky TM TWCS just didn’t offer the fidelity required to get good at these tasks. Here’s where the Impulse Slider enters the picture. You see, in order to keep costs low, TM opted for a friction fit slider on the TWCS. The slider itself is plastic and is screwed onto two metal rails. Just by the nature of the design, the plastic isn’t going to slide smoothly on the metal rods. Yes, you can lube up the assembly with whatever grease you choose and that might work, however the Impulse is a mechanical upgrade that eliminates the mess of grease and repeated applications. Original Slider - Screwed onto Rails There are plenty of videos on how to perform this upgrade (the seller’s video on Etsy is great), so I won’t rehash here. It is darn simple. I purchased both the metal and poly bearings to see what each felt like and the polys are far superior IHMO. The new slider now rides ON the rails as the metal rods pass through the bearings. The difference pre and post upgrade is incredible. Impulse Slider Upgrade - Poly Bearings I’ve heard other folks describe the movement as “smooth as glass”, “buttery smooth” etc. I agree. Gone is the cheap “plastic-y” feel. It has been replaced with what I can only describe as an “expensive” and precise feeling. You know how you can tell the difference between a well engineered mechanical device and a cheap plastic knock-off? Yeah, the TWCS now feels like that well engineered machine. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. I can now AAR, formation fly, and consistently get LSO “ok” grades. And I didn’t have to spend $500+ on a Virpil or Warthog! If you own a TM TWCS and take your flight sims seriously, I think you owe it to yourself to check out this upgrade. Its currently $25 USD and is money well spent in my opinion. Lastly, the seller is a great guy. Highly responsive and happens to be a DCS pilot too! Hopefully this thread helps someone become a better virtual pilot.
  17. @BIGNEWY or @NineLine Not trying to be a pain here. Should I start a new thread in the bug section of the Supercarrier forums regarding the EGIW and 3PTSIW?
  18. Really? Had no idea on that nugget. Thanks!
  19. Sorry for the thread necro - just want to say thanks to @Rudel_chw! I have been wondering how to ask for engine start in the Hornet. I haven't seen anyone discuss this in any of the startup vids I've seen. Works exactly as you stated. Thanks!
  20. Just watched HIP's video on the Hind and Apache. He's using the Syria map for the video. Unfortunately the incredibly annoying billboards are extremely distracting. Once you see em, you can't NOT see them all over the place. Love your work, Ugra! No need to spam us on your Normandy map. Your reputation for quality and superior results stands on its own. Please remove those billboards. Thanks.
  21. This happened to me for the first time yesterday. VR. Flying Hornet. Mission 9 of Rising Squall. Current OB version. Black cubes appearing in sky. Only in left eye lens. Oculus Rift S. Not using steam.
  22. Besides being long on the DW this was one of my better landings. What's the LSO grade?? I remain optimistically hopeful that this track can help the ED Testing team locate and irradiate both the 3PTSIW and EGIW issues. @BIGNEWY and @NineLine - can you please direct the devs here for a look? Thanks. Edit: I am on the current OB release. Cut_Score_052221.trk
  23. I was coming here to post the exact same thing, @Stearmandriver. definitely appreciate the effort ED ... Looks like there's still some work required before squashing this bug. I'll post my track from this morning sometime today.
  24. Sounds great! Thanks for this work. Subscribed to see what the ME wizards do with this.
