  1. Thanks for speaking to the team, BigNewy (no need to @mention you). It might help us to understand why this was the intended design choice. I suspect the development/design team already went through many other placement options and settled on this one. Understanding "why" might help squelch the noise here. Until then, I consider myself in the confused camp. Even Wag's videos on George mention the intended placement of the George AI window being positioned to the side of the screen to avoid getting in the way of other information. It seems like you're indicating the team chose to go against that for VR. I am on the Rift S. Here's an image from the CPG seat. Not sure why the IHADSS isn't getting captured in the image, but you can see how the George AI is sitting right below it making it really hard to see through all the clutter. Actually the screen grab is much easier to read than the sim itself.
  2. Same here - ED. This one seems pretty easy to produce. @BIGNEWY or @NineLine, you guys need a track for this?
  3. Hey @BIGNEWY, just making you aware of the situation. Maybe this is coming. If not, can you pass along @f4l0findings to the dev team? Much appreciated!
  4. Thanks @Bell Driver!
  5. You know @Wags doesn't use any pedals, right? He has an axis bound on his HOTAS for anti-torque. He mentioned this in a video a few weeks ago, and I was floored! Me, personally, absolutely love the VKB Pedals. Sturdy, all metal and reasonably priced. For me, I don't know how I'd fly a heli without pedals.
  6. Well, I hope Cap monetizes his channel with all those subs! GR isn't my first stop for DCS videos, but they have certainly given me information over the years.
  7. Anyone else notice the weak looking handshake that Gen. Petraeus is using?
  8. Well its great to know where it came from. I couldn't find it in the forums or downloads. I snagged it from @lankypilot77 youtube replays of Paradise Lost campaign. That kneeboard made its way into that campaign. I wasn't sure where it was located (I since figured it out), so I just spent 10 minutes creating a new one. Thanks for the inspiration! Do you have all your kneeboards someplace? I should check them out, if you do.
  9. Hey @Sydy - just wondering what tool you use to create the document? The layout is incredibly useful. Thanks! I made my own Huey kneeboard using a very similar kneeboard that I screen grabbed off YouTube. Maybe it was yours as this looks very similar. I love when people do things like this for the community. Thanks! Oh, and here's the kneeboard I slapped together for the Huey in case you're wondering how it turned out. I actually used powerpoint to create.
  10. I just picked up some predator mounts. Sturdy and reasonably priced. Great support! I'd recommend. https://www.predatormounts.com/
  11. Amen @Stearmandriver. Well put.
  12. Thanks for whatever whatever wizardry you did to determine that setting!!
  13. Not only are the visuals insane, but going the extra mile to license AC/DC Thunderstruck for the soundtrack is epic! Thank you, ED!!!!
  14. Okay ... followed the instructions and installed to the proper directory in saved games. I think. It isn't showing up in the cockpit. What am I doing wrong here @Sydy? Has anyone got this working? Thanks!
  15. An hour ago things were progressing quite well. It's been "stuck" here in the 2400 baud aisle for awhile.
  16. They were THE producer of excellent videos back then. I remember the anticipation of seeing those intro movies the first time you ran the executable. Ahhh, fond memories. Funny how my memories of that video don't stand up to the real thing all these years later - wow, has technology come a LONG way. Can't wait to see what ED releases for their trailer. Better yet, can't wait to hop in and take her for a spin. Won't have to wait much longer.
  17. Thanks @Sydy!!
  18. Try here. There's a dedicated sub for this campaign.
  19. Future me coming in with a response. After struggling with this, I KNEW it was a "me problem". @DishDoggie, thanks for your patience with me. Well, I knew @Reflected pulled this off in his excellent Paradise Lost campaign, so I looked at the Liveries containing that content. I was incorrectly coding the description.lua file. Once I squared it away, these are the results. --- E-6's in the house! My problem was solved by copy/pasting from Reflected's description.lua and updating the file names. I was using the extension of .dds in my original attempts, but the working file doesn't. So I updated the lua with the following lines: {"pilot_UH1_patch", 0, "pilot_UH1_patch_1_cavalery", false}; {"gunner_UH1_patch", 0, "pilot_UH1_patch_1_cavalery", false}; Works like a charm. I really hope this thread sheds a little light on how to modify the pilots of the Huey. Maybe some months from now someone will be in a similar situation and can reference this thread for some specifics. If this saves someone else some time, it was worth me spending time to document my process.
  20. Boom! This is more what I was going for. Thanks again, @Skywarp! No change to eyes is on the Right and my "coloring" of the eyes using the airbrush tool on the Left. Yes, the sunglasses are meant to have different tints. I'll "fix" the AC eyes and call it done. This has been a fun little mini-project. Here's a closer shot
  21. Thanks!! I wondered why that layer remained opaque in spite of me setting it otherwise. I kinda like seeing the eyes. But NOT as much as is shown currently. I also prefer the green tint vs. black. I might mess around with the airbrush tool to color the face as you've described and see if I can replicate more of this kind of look. Thanks for weighing in, @Skywarp
  22. Per my note above - yes, this works as I suspected. If you're so inclined, you can replace the 60s_Radio.ogg with whatever sounds you own. The DCS radio plays the track at a much lower volume than you hear from within Audacity (or whatever app you use to manipulate sounds), so keep that in mind when creating your sound collection. Looking at Reflected's recording, he's got the output playback level pretty high to account for DCS' radio/cockpit sound volume compression. If you're going to go to the trouble of doing this, make sure your sound files are set to an appropriate output level or your recording will be very hard to hear in the cockpit with all the other sounds going on. After a bunch of trial and error, I set Audacity's Amplification to a peak of 3 (dB) and allowed for clipping in order to achieve a high enough sound level to be heard in the cockpit. YMMV here. I notice no change in the output of a clipped track when compared to a non-clipped track. I am not an audiophile. I am no expert in sound, sound editing, or sound editing software. What knowledge I have comes from trial and error along with YT tutorials. Lastly, the way Reflected coded the missions, the music file loops (thank you). It doesn't just play once and stop. That nugget might help folks decide how long to make their custom tracks. Hope this helps someone!
  23. There's a fairly new option we now have at our disposal that's been a godsend to me as a VR player. The Messages History option. In case you're not already aware (or there are people just reading this who missed this feature add), pressing this gives you a complete history of all messages that are written to the screen. This is one of those quality of life changes that ED made that gets me super excited as I use it almost every mission.
  24. Thanks! I will make a note on that, Reflected. Appreciate the response. I could have been damaged I suppose. That would make sense.
