  1. It's been out a week. The developers have said they are working on a firmware update to fix some issues. Sending it back so soon is just a little unrealistic, but if you are not happy, then OK. It is your loss. When everyone else has it fixed, you will at least have some new tyres. I have white lights when it is in standby and white lights on the touch controllers. Why do the colour of lights make a huge impact for you that it needs a new thread starting to discuss them?
  2. In fact, Wags stated in the last communication that they were now dealing with aspects of the Hornet that would take a lot of work to complete. We will get an update next when there is stuff to release. Are you schoolkids here or adults?
  3. Because it is a much better opponent for the Spitfire over Normandy. Did you really not think of that? Or is your idea of flight simming just flying the fastest, toughest, bestest manouvreing, most heavily armed and sod the rest? Wouldn't that be a shame! Still, I guess each to his own!
  4. You've not been left hanging. Work continues as the previous post stated. Once you have been in DCS World a while you will appreciate that stuff just takes time given limited resources at their disposal. They are not a huge software studio, and they have a lot of spinning plates in the air to deal with. The Yak-52 was made available to us after a separate contract to supply it to a private customer was fulfilled. Clearly, their specification didn't include a damage model, but we're still getting one, so we can't exactly complain, can we? Or would you suggest that they hold up major projects like the F/A-18 or F-16 in order to satisfy the whim of a very small minority who want the Yak-52 completed right away? You have had confirmation, so in the meantime, don't overheat the engine or crash and you can be thoroughly satisfied with another superb, worlds beating module can't you.
  5. Support got back to me regarding the dropouts some of us have been experiencing. Here is the first suggestion I received today: Hello, Thank you for reaching out to Oculus Support regarding your display issue, I'm happy to assist. I have some troubleshooting steps for you to try as they may resolve this issue: 1. Disconnect and Reconnect your Rift S from your computer. To do this: • Unplug the USB cable from your computer • Unplug the mini DisplayPort or DisplayPort cable from your computer • Wait 10 seconds • Re-plug your USB cable into your computer. • Wait 10 seconds. • Re-plug your mini DisplayPort or DisplayPort cable into your computer. 2. Unplug and Replug your Rift S headset. To do this: • Carefully remove the facial interface from your headset. This will allow you to access the cable. • Unplug the cable from the headset. • Wait 5 seconds. • Insert the cable back into your headset. • Insert the facial interface back into your headset. 3. Restart your Oculus Service. To do this: • Open the Oculus app on your computer. • Click Settings on the left side of the app. • Click Beta at the top of the settings options. • Click Restart Oculus. Additionally, we offer phone-support. If you would like phone-support, please provide the following information: • Your phone number. • Your current time-zone. • A date and 2-hour window when we can call you. Let me know how you would like to proceed, and if you have any questions for me. Warm regards, Alex Oculus Support A quick, and hopefully effective response. I'll let you know how it affects the issue.
  6. I can definitely sympathize with your problem. The first time I flew a DCS taildragger was a total disaster too. It is very hard to taxi, take off and land them. There is a landing assist option, but even with that, you have to have very effective, timely rudder control, and there is no easy way around that. The forces at work are torque and gyroscopic effects induced by the prop, and additionally, the main landing gear is forward of the centre of gravity and centre of pressure. They all want to go belly up at high throttle settings, and they all prefer to go backwards at the first opportunity. Trying to do anything with a pair of digital controls (buttons) makes the problem far worse too. So, yes you will naturally struggle. My recommendation would be to get a set of rudder pedals, they're a game changer when it comes to the precise control inputs needed. The other thing you need to do is remove all heavy objects from near your PC, and keep practicing. With no heavy objects around you can't start throwing stuff at the cat. Unfortunately, in a study sim, aircraft are hard to handle because well, the real thing is hard to handle. Stick at it though, because getting it right and greasing a tail dragger in on the main gear only when landing is one of the sweetest things in any flight sim. There are some really useful articles that will explain all the forces involved, and when and why they occur here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179253 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179314 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179455 The guy that wrote them is a god as far as I am concerned. He makes things clear and gives you a cat in hells chance of getting to grips with the fine art of tail draggers.
  7. Yes, you can use them, but there is no easy way to hold them in place. The lens dimensions are identical, but the points where my lenses were held into the CV1 are no longer close in enough to hold them in the S. You can find ways around that though with a little ingenuity. As an alternative, it is much easier to wear your glasses inside the S version than the CV1.
  8. One thing we can say in EDs favor regarding the F-16 is that all the new systems being created for the F/A-18 that we have to wait for will be very close to the same systems in the F-16, so I suspect we will have a far more complete package, and get it far sooner for that simple reason. The groundwork will have been done already, and with tweaks, adaptable for the F-16. Just a hunch, but it might be a big factor on the way the F-16 is following so closely on the F/A-18s shirt tails.

    New Aircraft

There is a P-47 in the pipeline. It was delayed because of the very reason you chose DCS World, and that has been well publicized by ED. I can fully understand where you stand Skunk Cabbage. The FW-190 A8 will make a great ground pounder too, even if that wasn't this module's primary role. The P-47 will be along pretty soon too I hope.
  10. So barely useable was accurate in your opinion? I find that attitude very questionable, hence my remarks. Or is it just that you personally can't get on with it where others have no hesitation in saying VR is the only route to go? I suspect it may be the latter, which is not what the question was asking. People want well informed, unbiased, realistic assessment, not personal grouches. If you cannot achieve that, it might be better to just say nothing. Split hairs all you might, your opinion is without merit unless it is based on sound thinking, and clearly, it wasn't, as many of us will tell you. If you had given a balanced response, do you think I'd have said anything at all?
  11. Barely useable and unusable are different in what way exactly? It seems a very small step from one to the other. Split hairs if you wish, but the fact remains that the CV1 was far superior to any other interface with DCS World, and just because it was lacking in some small areas doesn't detract from that. If you want to be taken seriously, think carefully when you state something is barely useable when it was good enough to replace any other interface in the opinion of many here.
  12. I used the Rift CV1 for 3 years when I had the choice of that, a Track IR Pro, or 3 screens. So your views are clearly unrepresentative at best, and utterly incorrect at worst. To say something is unusable when it isn't is unhelpful and deceptive. How can you expect people to take your opinions seriously when you are so dismissive? The CV1 was a compromise, absolutely. Small text was difficult to read, yes. But then again, so is trying to pretend to fly combat sorties from the comfort of your spare room. Utterly impossible in fact if we are to take your opinions seriously. Point out shortcomings, but avoid unreasonable and sweeping statements that you must know to be wrong, please!

    U.F.O.

I think we'd all be better off spending our time speculating about real stuff like Big Foot, the Loch Ness monster, when DCS World will release an F-117, or when we will see the next module. I was abducted by aliens once, and not one of them wanted sex, the frigid tossers! They were so embarrassed by earthlings demanding they be probed. All, the aliens wanted was to know the way to Alpha Centauri that they refuse ever again to visit this godforsaken rock populated by hooligans bent on destroying their world. So clearly we definitely know there are no UFOs anymore, even if there were any in the past. Who'd want to visit a planet run by the psychopaths we call our leaders? We couldn't even manage to get Brexit right!!!
  14. Or better still, be sociable when joining multiplayer servers and connect your SRS radios. What is the point of being in multiplayer situations if you cannot communicate effectively? I personally would kick anyone who joined a multiplayer session in total isolation because he cannot communicate with the other players.
  15. We are told it should appear on 5th June, subject to all the usual last-minute delays due to unforeseen issues.
  16. Actually, I'd say the problem was that you want everyone to hold your hand for you. Doing your searches, feeding you pointless updates just to keep you happy, and of course, discounting everything so you could save money instead of ensuring the longevity of the companies who work exclusively for you. Did I miss anything?
  17. The module is discounted at present. Chances are you will not get as much off by redeeming bonus points, which can be used on stuff like campaigns etc. My advice - go for it now.
  18. I suspect it is a resources thing. I have far less when I turned down the graphics settings. Hopefully, there will be an end to it when DCS World 2.5.5 comes along. Some of us get the issue, others don't. With any luck, the experts will come up with the definitive fix soon.
  19. On day 3 of release of a brand new piece of hardware you're saying the first issue we have come across is a scam? Wow. It is an issue with the lead connection, and can be fixed. Just wait and see what Oculus say.
  20. The royal "we" I presume? Cuz to be frank, you are way off with this one! Everyone knows the next module to be taken up for development will be the Tornado.
  21. Anyone want to buy the CV1version? Open to offers.
  22. All voice recognition will have the same issue. Just spend a lot more time training windows if your diction is non-standard. It’ll pick up the nuances over time.
  23. Any Spit or Pony pilot who knows how to get the best out of his ride!
