  1. Easy mistake to make. I am wishing the week away so we can get the update too :thumbup:
  2. Plug them in and run DCS World. Go to the controls menu and they should be in one of the columns listed. If they're present, just configure them in the usual manner. If not, then I don't know how to remedy that.
  3. There is a good reason for the pre-order discount. Buy, don’t buy. But we don’t need to hear about it!
  4. Can the F-16 give MiG-28 pilots the bird whilst flying inverted, that's the real question here? Anything else is just numbers! :music_whistling: :music_whistling: :music_whistling:
  5. I think he may mean a hi-fidelity reaper with the full control suite perhaps? Can't think of a better example of getting close to reality than drone piloting, can you?
  6. So you'd rather the developers sit idle while waiting for other aspects of code outside their control were put right by ED? Also, bear in mind that once the 3d modeling is done, the experts in that field are quite unrestricted from starting on the F-15 without any impact on the debugging/coding side of things. Also, a map is not an aircraft, you might have noticed the two things are worked on by entirely diverse skill sets. So, please don't get snappy. Apply a little grey matter before engaging in pointless sniping.
  7. And a merry Christmas to you too!
  8. An integrated system may take longer to develop, but it is far superior to add ons. Let's leave ED to sort it out - I think they have some experience in coding!
  9. Thanks Bignewy, eagerly anticipated today.
  10. If you want info on a VKB product, might I recommend you ask VKB? In case you hadn't noticed, this is an Eagle Dynamics website and forum, for Eagle Dynamics and Digital Combat Simulator questions and answers. Joystick manufacturers allegedly have their own websites too - go figure!
  11. I thought this was a P-47 thread. Silly me!
  12. What seems to be forgotten is that the platform on which all the DCS World software was built is the revenue from Black Shark and the A-10C. Sure, it wasn't cheap, and yes, to bring it up to date you will need to spend more. But remember how long ago it arrived on the scene, and what a step forward it was. Then, take a look in the attic at all the old software that you now never touch - often because it is no longer able to run on modern machines. Then think again about how much the Black Shark series cost. To my thinking, it is one of the few items from that era still being supported. There is a limit as to how far your buck will go, and as such, it is either invest or die. At least the Black Shark is still getting investment. Not so expensive when you think of it in those terms?
  13. You do have the ability to reverse axes, and change the function of all buttons. Hardly an issue when you know how to correct it yourself.
  14. On the other hand, do you think such a highly motivated and professional company such as ED can really manage without the input of our resident armchair chairpersons of the boards? I for one imagine they'd be lost without all our wise-ass criticism and suggestions. And all that marvelous motivational commentary such as "The Viper is pants" posted on Facebook. How could any self-respecting dev cope without it? :music_whistling: :music_whistling: :music_whistling:
  15. You can also just delete the inputs folder from your saved games section. It will mean remapping, but it will also clear any bugs.
  16. The release version usually follows a couple of weeks down the line from the pre-release Beta. The Beta is used to find any major issues in the public domain before committing to sending it out into the mainstream. You can, however, add a second version of DCS World, or swap the version you have from release to Beta and back again if you don't want to wait that long.
  17. What usually accounts for the red entry lines that we see appearing from time to time with updates? Have we not also seen situations where the entire inputs branch of our saved games sections get lost?
  18. Which WW2 radar system can tell if it's working or not? Or put another way, what use is a system that you can't actually use? But hey, split hairs, you're still talking bull.
  19. How can we recommend a good stick if you place arbitrary conditions on it? There is no shortcutting a good flight experience with shoddy gear, so read into that what you will! Or rob a bank maybe? :music_whistling: :music_whistling: :music_whistling:
  20. You're kidding, right? The lack of a clickable cockpit and very simple start-up might just give us a clue, not to mention the flight model being slightly different. As for no warbird being fully modeled, which ones?
  21. Backing up an early release in case the controls are changed? It sounds like a fun way to screw things up to me. But hey, if that's your bag - go with it. For the rest of us, yes, you may need to address a few issues that appear due to changes to control mapping. Call it all part of life's rich tapestry when you take that leap of faith and buy pre-release public Beta modules. But hey it takes moments to address such idiosyncrasies, so shall we just go with the flow instead perhaps? I think that would be a sensible approach. If not, you will find the burning torches and pitchforks stacked in the nursery toy cupboard.
  22. Actually, it is more a question of mass rather than mass times gravity. But physics states that heat is retained by large solid, massive objects for quite a considerable time, and I am positive ED were not coding all this stuff so we could sit in the cockpit for hours to watch it firtstly, increase and then slowly decay. Or am I missing a point here?
  23. I echo the thanks of everyone else here Wags. I know any new release launches a fresh deluge of questions about why other modules are still incomplete, and a whole slew of comments about flight characteristics or other pet peeves. But the silent majority appreciate all your herculean work in bringing these excellent modules to market. And more importantly, we will support that work with our hard-earned (or otherwise gotten) cash. Thanks, and keep doing what you're doing.
