  1. When the Rift Sis released there will be plenty of cheap Rifts around. You’ll pick them up for less than 200. You can also see how the community reacts to the S and have a more informed choice to make.
  2. No it isn't. It is just an out of date version of DCS World. 2.5 is the currently supported version of DCS World, and it has complete VR support. All the OP needs to do is ensure he is running the latest update, either release or Beta version. Another thing to do is delete your snap view file from the Saved Games/Config/View folder to rule out a possible snap view corruption. That can move the pilot's head position drastically if it becomes corrupt. I concur with previous comments regarding running regular repairs as a quick fix for a lot of issues. If that fails, just rename the Saved Games folder, and a new one will be created next time you run DCS World. Then you can restore settings slowly from the old folder until you trace the culprit.
  3. I am sure an English cockpit will appear as a mod soon. We don't need a debate about whether or not it is appropriate as every other module gets different language cockpits as required by individuals. If you don't want one, don't download the thing when it arrives. Why does it always have to come down to people deciding what is and isn't appropriate?
  4. A producer that doesn't read it's clients wish lists - highly improbable, don't you think? Just because they haven't said so doesn't mean they aren't paying attention. Or did you imagine they'd immediately drop everything they were doing every time someone came up with some crackpot idea about what to produce next?
  5. Matt Wagner speaks highly of the Oculus Rift S. Do a quick search for his views.
  6. I'd always put the OS onto an SSD first. With the Saved Games folder residing there, and the shaders accessed from that location, accessing that will at least be slightly quicker. As to overall stuttering, I think there are far more factors than just the drive read speeds.
  7. Wait, you want more of the continental United States, where no air war has been fought. You wouldn't prefer to see more appropriate combat zones modeled first? Irony on--- OK. Different, but sure. Why not? We don't really need a combat simulator. Why not have just civil aircraft instead? ---Irony off
  8. Clearly a decent RIO refuses to fly with us amateurs. He’ll get more experienced over time. Just remember what a big step an AI RIO is, and get with the program.
  9. In a war zone? I would suggest they would be off 99% of the time in that situation. In peacetime, not so much of course, but the clue is in the C of DCS isn't it? Doesn't that take priority over peacetime operations? That makes the most sense to me.
  10. It isn't a dilemma, there is only one choice - VR. The dilemma is whether to wait or pick one now from what's available. I'd recommend Rift, but try before you buy is the only real way to choose.
  11. You need the Beta version of DCS World, updated to the latest version (2.5.4.28461). Once it is up to date, go to the module manager within DCS World, and it will ask you if you want to install it. You can convert a Release version of DCS World to Beta easily. Just do a quick search for the details.
  12. The axis controls for all joysticks need to be set up correctly as the first step in installing any new module. You generally find all the axis bindings are bound to all the controllers, and you'll need to just delete the non-relevant ones. This has always been the case in DCS World.
  13. Everyone got their fake tan and volleyball shorts on?
  14. The base program needs to be updated, and it will only work with the Beta version, so step 1, download the update. Step 2 run DCS World. Step 3 go to the module manager, and you should see a dialogue box asking if you want to install the F-14 - just say yes please.
  15. The most obvious reason would be to keep the ship and all other aircraft in the pattern in sight. The procedures are evolved through thousands of hours of flying around the boat and are arrived at from the expert input of pilots who have done the job. It clearly works well this way.
  16. Congratulations Heatblur on the culmination of a huge project. I wish you well for the launch, and all your future projects. Well done indeed!
  17. You can get 2 cold starters on the corral, and 2 cold starters on the EL4 spot plus 4 hot starters on the cats. I believe any more joiners would just have to wait until those first 8 are clear before the slots become available for the next batch of 8. If too many try to spawn you just get a message that your start will be delayed.
  18. You assume that 200 Kg will do the trick. The reality is that at high speeds the controls didn't just stiffen, they became impossible to move. Brute force also has to be combined with finesse, so applying one factor and saying the flight model must be wrong may be missing the point entirely? I put my faith in Yo-yo et al because their only motive is correct and in-depth flight modeling, and they have dedicated a lot of time trouble and money in getting things as close as they can in conjunction with the guys who have done the whole flying thing for real. A hunch doesn't cut it, and anecdotal evidence is just that. We either accept things as they are, or go insane I guess?
  19. Wasn't this a thread about progress and delay regarding WW2 based modules? How does the flight modeling debate contribute? I'm confused... The way I read things, for example, the delay to the P-47, the whole process of research and implementation just takes far longer than the less scientific attitude of other platforms. We have, after all, only seen work in progress modules thus far, but the work being done in those transfers across to future projects. We're seeing that in the release of the MiG-19P and in future that may well translate into much more rapid releases of WW2 modules too. The fundamental difference is like comparing Rome to the cartoon of Asterix the Gaul. One is an entire city built over millennia, the other is just a facsimile. The question might be moot if you're after just another approximation game, but the end results can and do shine through as being on a whole different level. So contrary to the OP, I don't for a moment believe WW2 has stalled, but yes, inevitably, progress will always be slower than we'd like - at least in the short term where all the background engineering is perfected, and the research teams gather vital information. That's my take on the situation anyway. I suspect it has a lot to do with commercial aims, but those aims aren't necessarily to make a fast buck but to produce a world-beating product. Again, Rome v Asterix the Gaul. It is a question of philosophy, and that can never be second-guessed by we armchair experts.
  20. It is Latent Track While Scan. We'll have to wait until Wags releases the how-to video for details about how it works and what it is used for.
  21. Well done Heatblur! Definitely a red letter day.
  22. You can buy 3rd party lenses based on your prescription for distance. They work very well and mean you don't need to wear glasses when in VR. They do take regular cleaning to keep VR vision at its best of course.
