  1. External SSD for gaming? overclockers.com forums (Read the first answer there) -->"cause lag spikes" DCS on an external drive will not work or will be much much slower to run than how you had it setup before. External drives are NOT design for gaming. Get you money back and buy a solid state drive for DCS. I believe this is your motherboard. The guy's from Ibuypower here on reddit think so.... YOU need to check this still. If this is your motherboard you can run (4 x Sata drives) and add a (M.2 drive). In other words, you can run (2 more internal SSD drives) + (1 M.2 drive ) bring your total to "5 internal drives". EDIT: IF you use the M.2 port you would lose "SATA_2 port" So you would have (3 internal sata drives) + (1 high speed M.2) Use CPU-Z to find out if this is your motherboard or just take a look in the case. EXAMPLE ONLY and to give you another example for speed. I run my OS on the M.2 drive, page file and DCS on it's own SSD. DCS Load times are 40 seconds, 2nd load is 10 to 15 seconds. ;) -
  2. The guy's are not trying to unset you here Angelthunder, trying to help. List your "full pc spec" and the guy's here can help even more. You bought a portable T5 SSD drive seen here, next to the solid state drive. The drive you bought is a fast storage device and not for gaming. Seen here on Samsung This is the type of SSD drive you need. and this is how it's installed in the case. She talks about cloning in the video below, you wont be doing that, as your just adding another drive to the system. Windows 10 - How To Activate New Hard Drives
  3. If that drive is not plugged into a sata port on the mb, she's not going to work very well. USB 3.0 good for storage, not for apps.
  4. Oh... and you think the F/A-18 is hard to refuel....:D Try it when also sling loading.... See video here
  5. Make sure to watch this really well done vid. It's not easy and bad things can and do happen.
  6. For practice in that mission, use the F10 map and let the Cap and SEAD flight do their job. Hold back and orbit over the sea and watch on the F10 map. Also have the RWR up on one of the DDI's so you know the sam sites are not operational. Then do your mission. Always keep an eye out.;)
  7. No good at all.... Man I hope they do find more of the missing crews. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the families involved. One Marine dead, five missing after jet and tanker collide off Japanese coast. stripes.com
  8. Now that's funny.... So, you got your call sign mover, by lighting up a group of cows with the 20mm on the F-16....:D:megalol::helpsmilie: You would never live that down, no wonder it stuck big time. I also bet the farmer of those cows was impressed too... WTF...... That's a great.... real honest.... share right there mover, very much appreciated for the link to the video. EDIT We are getting cows and the F-16 a some point. Wags must have add these cows in the sim, just so you can get some more practice or just to relive the moment...:D "Make the world a bit more alive" Not with Mover around...lol
  9. Thanks for sharing.. Nice shot of a high drag drop in the West Coast video around the 5 minute mark. You almost see the complete drop like I try and do in sim LOL.
  10. If you think you have a good understanding of the fundamentals down, it's time to start learning strategy/tactics and get better at situational awareness. Multiplayer really makes (Forces you) to get a lot better at this.:D Try the campaign missions for the F/A-18 (You can play these separately too) These are good small missions to test your skill and situational awareness (SA) out. Remember to let your wingman loose. (Do mission and Rejoin) Win key + W or something? Check the binding. Bookmark these guy's, they started doing great Presentations CVW-11 Intercept Geometry Presentation I also have a link to a very good PDF book in that thread. Fighter Combat-Tactics and Maneuvering. Edit: Also, if you do fly the campaign missions. Understand YOUR mission and that of the other aircraft, there will be sead and CAP aircraft. Let these guy's do their job, so you can do yours. Example: Stay back and let them clear the way when on strike missions, mop up if you have to etc. This is for the strike mission, not when you do CAP operations. Read the mission briefing and understand what your mission is. The learning never ends;) you should know all about your aircraft and it's ability and the potential enemy's. That also includes the one's on the ground. At the end of the day the flying, navigating and landing on the carrier should become "standard" secondary stuff. Your real job is to manage "THIS" weapons platform and put warheads on foreheads.
  11. You should setup in a pattern to do touch and go's. Similar way we do it in the F/A-18 for Case 1 practice with the hook up. If your using the A-10C, F-5E. Setup the TACAN and HSI for the Airport distance and Runway direction.
  12. You could change the -> Tune Axis -> Change saturation > until you have full power before the stop. Problem is you will have a little less definition in the power range to control the engines. Possibly not matter too much on those aircraft, well the AV-8 and vertical landing might.;) Not at home right now... I think you need to change / select them as sliders, then play with the end line on the graph in DCS using the saturation. Test in sim by opening the control window Left control + Enter to see if you get full range.
  13. Another very cool video by Mover. Has he mentioned how he got that call sign?

Anyone thinking about or just getting into the ww2 aircraft. You might want to take a look at the very cool Essay's by Chief Instructor in the Spitfire section. Essay 1 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179253 Essay 2 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179314 Essay 3 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179455
  15. IRL they must land the F-14's altogether then the F/A-18's then E-2 Hawkeye etc. To have the correct height setup (When the F-14 was still in service). That might be hard to do in DCS multiplayer, when there's F-14's and F/A-18's all doing Case 1 around the ship together.;) As you can see there is quite the difference of 3 Feet between the F-14 and F/A-18. Thanks Curly
  16. This is what I've been running at the moment. Pic below was reduced down in size in Photoshop, so at max size it looks a little ordinary. (Default Textures too)
  17. Try MSAA (-OFF-) or (2x) Gamma (1.8 SSAA (1.5) Textures in NVIDIA control panel to quality.
  18. Forces DCS into full screen mode (Not windowed) etc.
  19. It's really only a reference to "Check" if the AOA gauge is working correctly, otherwise your only concern is trimming for on speed AOA. So not really needed for DCS. Pilots do a quick calculation to see if the airspeed roughly matches weight.
  20. You only need to download DCS once then keep it updated or change to any version. Save a copy to an external drive just in case. You can even get someone you know on cable internet to install DCS, then copy the "full install folder" to a USB stick and send that to you. All the different things you can do with as many installs (Copy Paste) as you like.

Prepare Mavericks (Go to page hit Button with mouse) Select HUD as sensor of interest (SOI) (HOTAS) Choose CCRP mode (HOTAS) Select Maverick as weapon (HOTAS) Select a MFD as SOI (HOTAS) Go to MAV page on MFD (HOTAS) Slew maverick onto target (HOTAS) Master Arm to ON. (hit switch with mouse or bind to hotas) Fire (HOTAS) Fire Hands...;) A good full HOTAS really helps here big time and KNOW IT BACK TO FRONT without thinking... Takes time.... Not taking away what lemoen has said above, as there is "A LOT" in the a-10C if you want to really dig in and use the UFC and punch in coordinates etc. But Clickable pit or not, I setup for war:D where a pilot would have that switch in easy access to his hand and not fumbling around with a mouse. I setup my controls to have all the main controls on my HOTAS. For the F/A-18 I can lower the gear and select full flaps with a modifier button command on my throttle. Why? You don't have the time to do Case 1 and grab a mouse, able to hit "real switches" would be way easier to do. The only real benefit of the clickable is doing "proper" startup, weapon configurations, radio's and autopilot options. If you really want this than the full clickable are good. Example: Once the A-10C is up and running and weapons configured if needed, it's all controlled on the HOTAS and similar to FC3 as it's meant to be, there all built to put warheads on foreheads as efficiently and accurately as possible. FC3 just cancels out those things and lets you get focused on the strategy side for multiplayer or single player. In VR this is even more important as you cannot see, so I do have flaps as a modifier and can lower the gear all on the HOTAS. You still need the mouse for some things to get it all setup for "battle" in the clickable modules... You don't want to be fumbling around once in battle tho.;)
  22. Nice! Thanks Jar:thumbup:
  23. That's why most shoot in TWS. This will not alert the RWR to the launch until the missile goes pitbull. This article about the F-15 on Mud spike is a great read and shows just how deep (At the moment) DCS models this.
  24. They wont show up because they are pressing keyboard commands and match the ones in sim. You can test this my launching DCS and go to the control options of said aircraft, then hit the buttons on the hotas. It should jump to and highlight that command that's been assign in the software. Example: TMS up on the stick, it should highlight TMS in the menu. The "external" software will not bind an axis or mini stick, you need to go and bind these yourself. Some recommend (Depends on profile) to also bind fire buttons in game as a DX command and not a keyboard command.
  25. Wow real old school, tho I do use in VR. I use VR with a modified label dot so I can see targets or just use the DOT setting that ED has made Red/Blue which is even easier. I mostly only do small mission, the new F/A-18 missions work well with a PD @ 1.6 to hold 45 fps. Track IR for multiplayer so I can see the targets. Once the VR rez gets there, it will be no going back to a flat 2D screen. So for now I just enjoy it where I can with the highest PD, graphic setting and missions to hold 45 fps. Flying Case 1 and flying choppers in VR is just awesome and much easier because of the depth perception.
