  1. A jet engine is able to adjust and allow for air density using rpm and ITT, like a governor. So brand new or not it should adjust, otherwise it could be a little hairy going off the performance charts on a short runway takeoff. Once an engine gets to it's set limits, it's overhaul time, so it can make it's rated thrust / match performance charts, these charts would also allow for that "Average" Yo-Yo talks about. Checkout these two post with full documents to see how the DCS A-10 was modeled off if your interested. It's an average of 100 tests. Also, many loadout the A-10 with way to many weapons, you don't see that in most of the photo's. She is a pig when you max fuel and weapons. Fuel and Air Relationships NASA ED doesn't model (script) the FM to match anything. Each part is modeled in real time, including the engines at altitude and temperature. If anything anywhere is slightly out 0.001 with the engines thrust or FM, it would magnify and show up in one of the many test you can do to see if it matches the many many A-10 charts. Quote "We break the aircraft down into sub-elements (including breaking the rotor blades/propeller blades/wings/stabilizers into sub-elements like the root, mid-section, trailing edge) and apply physics equations to each element in real time to determine the forces and moments acting on it at any point in time." Great post, one of my favorites :) It's better to think of DCS as one big simulated wind tunnel. It's why it's so taxing on our pc's + Nice graphics. It's also why the aircraft feel so dynamic and fun to fly.
  2. Stick with 1080p 1070 is the minimum I recommend for 1440p 1080 / 1080ti / 2080 / 2080ti for 4K (3840 x 2160) I still run 2560 x 1440p g-sync with a 1080ti and can max the eye candy and still sit @ 60 fps with SSAA 1.5.
  3. Another thread about this here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=224557
  4. You might want to learn some of the basics and setup the controls first on a monitor guidooke. I have extra controls set on the HOTAS because of VR. (Cannot see lol) Also recommend downloading Chuck's F/A-18C Hornet Guide
  5. Sustained...? I believe it's 360kts, just pull to hold this number. These are the only charts I've seen about this https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=217414&page=2 IvanK (ED Tester) in that thread is a former F/A-18 pilot, so 360kts
  6. I'd be interested to know how the 2080ti is going with that setup. I'm not sure if it can fed it enough.
  7. See my VR video above Sandman1330 in full screen. Try landing with the ICLS setup and fly the horizontal bar (When it shows up) at around the 45 degree mark and keep flying it until you see the ball.
  8. On speed AOA will not change (or very very little) because of power changes. Well unless you hold full burner on etc. Are you moving it more than this video below? Watch from 6:05 I would say your coming down to hard then, as I come down to hit the deck from the last power pump. I'm going to full burner just as I'm about to hit, the last power pump. If your not setup properly from the groove? Then wave yourself off like you would need to IRL.:)
  9. "Reasonably stable and on AoA" "It seems to happen more when I have to make a last minute correction to avoid going high" It sounds like your changing pitch still? It's a hard habit to change after not flying like that for so long. Pitch for speed, throttle for Glide slope. Trim for on speed AOA and never pitch for glide slope when landing. You also need to come off the throttle just before rolling wings level because of the extra lift you gain, then catch the ball with the throttle once wings level and come down the glide slope. power on power off, power on power off. It's energizing the ball not a set power etc. Watch the rock solid AOA in this video below (Set and locked in on the downwind leg). I was testing using ICLS here for case 1. The bars do help when coming into the groove at the correct height.
  10. You might need to run a repair to fix the VR center. Or delete or rename the snapview.lua "caution" this will reset all aircraft user saved views. C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View\ SnapViews.lua Read this here http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Snap_views#Customising_the_Default_View Not sure why the VR default would change? These are the values I have under the F-18 in the file above. line 1421 You can open and edit these, just use notepad or (better) download notepad++ as seen and used above. .
  11. Have you set a bind for VR centering and zoom under UI layer? To change the default view (recenter position) see this thread. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=224832
  12. Will have to have eye tracking tech for sure. We have dynamic focus, VR needs this too. "The region of your vision in which you can see in high detail is actually much smaller than most think—just a few degrees across the center of your view." https://www.roadtovr.com/why-eye-tracking-is-a-game-changer-for-vr-headsets-virtual-reality/ Edit: sniped by hansangb lol
  13. Very interesting... "We showcased GIMOD prototypes of 2500 pixels per inch (ppi) in the Mobile World Congress, and many players from the display industry reacted quite enthusiastically. While participating in several business contests in Germany, I have been preparing the team and securing capital. In few weeks, we will launch the startup to commercialize GIMOD components, aiming to tackle the VR market because that is where GIMOD outperforms every other technology." 14. "Normal Zoom" If want to change the default (Numpad 5) view reset. Take a look at this thread here Rhinozherous.
  15. First turn on snap view Pause Tir in game Press Num5 to reset your view to the current default. Adjust your view to what you want as the new default but do not use any snap view keys in the process!. If you have TrackIR, you will probably need to shut it off while doing this, otherwise it won't save the view the way you want it! Press RALT+Num0 - your new default view should now be saved. Num5 to reset your view Note: You can also save a new default zoom view when doing this too (Num / and *) Then save as per above. Note: Also you need to bind a Tir recenter button, found in the Tir app. You need this to reset Tir every now and again. http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Snap_views#Customising_the_Default_View How to move your position when paused Also see how to make different snap view positions for monitor or VR here. .
  16. It definitely wasn't a little pigeon me thinks. Looks like a good hit.
  17. I have everything ASUS, including the monitor and nothing has missed a beat...touch wood.:)
  18. Here are some very simple to the point video's I quickly found. GBU 12 GBU 38
  19. The A-10 was designed in the 70's to fly low (Hide) and not to take on the long range threats and to concentrate on taking out tanks. Build with a titanium bathtub to get hit by AAA and manpads up close. When planning a mission "Package" you would have TARCAP, SEAD, etc. The 1st campaign is setup a little like this, in reality they wouldn't be able to see everything or detect everything or even disable every defensive layer. Plus jammed GPS ;). I like to fly the A-10 like it would have been used, nice and low hiding behind hills, pop out and take a quick look or to see if something will shoot. You also would still be working with a JTAC on the ground to hopefully spot these. http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-9K35-Strela-10.html
  20. I was even running a 1070 @ 1440 quite well, now with the 1080ti I can max it out + run 1.5 SSAA. (MSAA OFF) The main reason to upgrade was for VR.
  21. Can be a little overwhelming at first and to grab all the general fundamentals. Then once you decide you really want to get involved and upgrade, Track IR / Good HOTAS, especially for the A-10C, harrier etc. You sit back and go right, that's what I've been missing out on! But then there's always more to upgrade, CPU, GPU I want more.:) Just remember to enjoy the journey....
  22. All good flyco, Mine was also a bit of tongue in my cheek...;) I just didn't want to confuse the OP with too much info in one hit. I Try and keep it as clear and simple as possible so they can see the whole picture of what needs to happen.
  23. Welcome to the forum lharv71, well first post in the forum since joining in 2012.:) Bring up the FCS page on the DDI etc. Hit the takeoff trim button and it will change from reading 0 the stab's to reading 12 on the stab's after you hit the button. The only other thing to remember to do is arm the seat...I do this sometimes sssssh. Pic below out of Chuck's F/A-18C Hornet Guide
  24. 2) Follow the ship Thread https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3595217#post3595217
  25. Hope you realize flyco that these controls are separate, perhaps you could bank and pull the throttle back at the same time.;) Oh and extend the speed brake, that's a separate switch too..
