You hope your PSU doesn't take out your motherboard or GPU etc with it. Most cheap PSU make nowhere near there rated power.

Where do I put the HOTAS profile files.
David OC replied to blackvette702's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Found it. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2829162/ The files are not really needed, just set it up like the picture in DCS options. I would even print this and write on it, so you can make changes to it if you want to and it helps when learning a setup. The assignments with the (DOT) next to it means (With modifier key held down) Example: China aft = Normal button (With modifier held down + Button = Air brake extend) You need to add this modifier key to DCS See this here on steam, then go to the modifier section using the index to learn how. You can add many more extra keys than this profile has if you wish to. Example I added the 3 auto pilot settings to my CH HOTAS. So, once you have setup the "modifier key" assigning keys are the same way as normally do, except you tell DCS that this is with the modifier key + button. This doubles the amount of usable buttons on your controls. -

Need a little ram filling popup loading screen.;) Zen out man... Quote "Having a Zen attitude means finding mindful awareness of the present moment. This will help you release yourself from stress, anxiety, frustration and anger." :D -
Really great vid, Just been rereading Fighter Combat-Tactics and Maneuvering so good timing. Good section in this book on Tactical Intercepts and much more, great book to go with your vids.

David OC replied to blackvette702's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi blackvette702, It depends, is it a DCS controller profile or does it use thrustmaster target software? I know little about the target software, it could be better to post a link to the profile you downloaded, so the guy's here can help you. -
Come on guy's this was all for a good cause right. Mover was no simmer and hasn't spent the time in sim like Lex has, so he could create his cool video's to teach us. Check this video on Mover's channel. Really makes you feel your back there learning a new aircraft with him. Shows you the real pressure of jumping back in after a few years taking it easy as first officer. Funny your not even allowed to taxi when first officer..? Great video Mover, thanks for filming this after so long out of the seat. Edit We have the F-5E in DCS that's loads of fun and back to basics, only TACAN and manual bombing. and the Mig-28 :D Yea, I know....The F-14 is coming.

Powerful radar (AWG-9) in the F-14 + AIM-54 built for long range fleet defense. Here are a few great videos by Growling Sidewinder, going up against the F-14. Update

Many post there problems here and the community will also help. What is the exact problem your having and the full spec's of your pc. If it's just the log's, it can mean very little, unless it's something major happening. Take a look a the windows log.

Welcome to the forum Kentvilla 152 GB here with all the 4 maps and many aircraft. If you only have the free map installed, it shouldn't be that large I would think? https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/stable/ SSD drive is also very highly recommend for reasonable loading times. Persian Gulf 31.6 GB Normandy 10.5 GB Nevada 33.8 GB Well, Perhaps it is more like 80? I only have 16 GB of ram and don't have any problems. 16 GB would be the minimum I would recommend tho.

cofcorpse from ED's team was in that thread researching. So probably not needed. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=224557 -
I felt the same way the first time I tried DCS in VR.

I would just use Chuck's F/A-18C Hornet Guide The F/A-18 is not to bad with the controls, well compared with the A-10C fire hands. Chuck also has a pic of the real controls and warthog, that's how I set my controls up, just mimicking as close to the real stick as I could get it. Then add in a few modifiers to make VR and the carrier break easier.
-
Most of the buttons you can just map in DCS. If you want a few more just add a modifier joystick key in DCS under the Hornet. I have CH gear and I can use the CH manager software if I choose. For the hornet I've just made my throttle pinky key a modifier. Once this is set in DCS as a modifier, that's all it can be used for. Now, when this key is pressed it allows me to program all the buttons on the "throttle" and "stick" again, doubling the keys available. Example: Hold pinky key + Trim up. This could be your zoom in view. Hold pinky key + Trim right to reset. Once the key is set, you just bind the key(s) you want the normal way except add the modifier key too. See this guide to lean more about modifiers and how to set them. How To Setup Controls and Joystick The main ones I've add are the gear and flaps. Fiddling around with these on a keyboard is a nightmare for the case 1 break. So I recommend mapping these buttons first.

I'm looking to get a new stick soon and if I get the warthog I would get an extension at the same time so it's not so stiff, the extension gives you more leverage. I think around 150cm would be a good balance for the hornet, choppers and ww2. If your not hitting the gates (Think of them like goals to hit) as you come around into the groove then wave yourself off, like it's done in real life. The whole point of this is to come into the lineup (Groove) at the correct height and on speed ready to come down the glide slope. Also, make sure your not trying to hold a perfect throttle position when coming around into the groove, It sounds like your over compensating the throttle and ending up going from 0 to 100%. If you watch any videos you can see the pilots working the throttle around 50 to 90%. In Lex's video you can see him trying to hold a rough 500 feet per minute decent when turning in from downwind using the throttle. Readjust this descent and turn in at the 90 degree if needed. Try case 1 with ICLS setup so you can see if your coming into the groove at the correct height.

Welcome to the forum Bones363, You will find the DCS.exe and DCS_update.exe in the bin folder of you new install. DCS_update.exe will always look for updates the other will not. There is no reason to re-install DCS, I have spare copies on external drives or you can copy and paste the DCS folder many times anywhere on you pc and turn these into any version available. I have not downloaded DCS in years across three different PC. Here's 3 different ways you can update, modify and repair any DCS installs you have on your pc. I would first do a cleanup and repair, then run the updater from the bin folder. You might...? have to rename your user (DCS_Beta folder) C:\Users"yourname"\Saved Games\ DCS_Beta and let dcs build a new one when you launch it. Then copy the old (config folder) back to the new folder, unless you like redoing all your joystick controls. As you can see in SkateZilla's DCS Updater GUI, it can hold 6 different DCS builds and allows you to update and repair them all separately, launch DCS with or without VR and much more.

He knew there is an auto throttle, he didn't know how it was mapped in that pit. Not sure why he had the controls setup like they were? Even the air brake was set backwards lol. The ATC for Landing is still WIP. It works differently when in landing config, the throttle holds on speed and you keep height / glide slope with the stick. Whole different set of control logic is needed.

ED still needs to make money, being able to sell to us, would perhaps been part of the deal to build the aircraft for them. ED maybe worked out estimated sales and gave a discount for the licence.

I had the 1070 before going to the 1080ti It could handle VR quite well, I upgraded so I could play larger missions. The 1080ti just gave me a bit more wiggle room with settings / mission size. Keep the mission to a reasonable amount and you'll have no problems. Also, that was many updates back, when I had the 1070 so things change, good and bad.;)

I've tried to consolidated a lot of info about how the navy lands their aircraft and why it's important. Things like hook to deck angle and links to great training video's. On speed AOA Video - Getting ready for Case 1 Landings

Training mission issue: Kh29t missiles won't lock on
David OC replied to Osprey39's topic in Bugs and Problems
The forum moderators / testers do a great job sifting through the now very large forum. Got any ideas as a developer to how it could be setup better. -
I don't worry about the virtual me,;) I've killed myself and been killed in multiplayer many times over.:( I don't recommend the helpers or game mode (Invulnerable) is ok when you start to learn to battle I guess. I just like to do it the hard way and crash and burn to learn a lesson. :) Just take you time and enjoy the journey Dutchmiester. Also, what controls are you using? Do you have a basic joystick at least? The best cheap HOTAS for "getting started" with. I would recommend the Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS. Rudder pedals do help also, I got them a bit later on. Very much needed for ww2 aircraft. There's plenty of video's out there to help you, or ask away here on the forum and many will help, no matter how silly the question. You have to start somewhere, we all did.

Bought FC3. Wanted to free flight and train in the F-15 & A-10
David OC replied to Bubba Yagga's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
I would just watch some YouTube video's then practice in sim. There is no detail startup for the FC3 aircraft, it's more about the flying and fighting than doing it all by the book, like you can do with the A-10C. (What's a Joststick LOL) This is a great very detailed combat guide for the F-15 Great book Fighter Combat: Tactics and Maneuvering pdf -
Thrustmaster TPR Peddals Mounting Idea
David OC replied to mytai01's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If I owned these, I would fix them to a large board, that's extended back to the wall skirting for bracing. Like this pic, just leave the board longer and cut it off to suit the distance. -
A jet engine is able to adjust and allow for air density using rpm and ITT, like a governor. So brand new or not it should adjust, otherwise it could be a little hairy going off the performance charts on a short runway takeoff. Once an engine gets to it's set limits, it's overhaul time, so it can make it's rated thrust / match performance charts, these charts would also allow for that "Average" Yo-Yo talks about. Checkout these two post with full documents to see how the DCS A-10 was modeled off if your interested. It's an average of 100 tests. Also, many loadout the A-10 with way to many weapons, you don't see that in most of the photo's. She is a pig when you max fuel and weapons. Fuel and Air Relationships NASA ED doesn't model (script) the FM to match anything. Each part is modeled in real time, including the engines at altitude and temperature. If anything anywhere is slightly out 0.001 with the engines thrust or FM, it would magnify and show up in one of the many test you can do to see if it matches the many many A-10 charts. Quote "We break the aircraft down into sub-elements (including breaking the rotor blades/propeller blades/wings/stabilizers into sub-elements like the root, mid-section, trailing edge) and apply physics equations to each element in real time to determine the forces and moments acting on it at any point in time." Great post, one of my favorites :) It's better to think of DCS as one big simulated wind tunnel. It's why it's so taxing on our pc's + Nice graphics. It's also why the aircraft feel so dynamic and fun to fly.
