  1. VR is great and all, it's still not perfect for sense of speed. Rift and HTC is only 110-degree field of view, still missing quite a bit monocular view. New VR with a wider FOV will be much more realistic for sense of speed. pimax is 200 degree. I posted this in another thread as someone else was asking about it. https://vr-lens-lab.com/field-of-view-for-virtual-reality-headsets/
  2. Just move your fov / zoom back to how we would see it in real life and report back. Use num pad / and *. Dcs concaves the view to widen the fov; so you see more on screen etc.
  3. Also make sure to have a system managed page file. I have 16 gigs of ram and ran into a problem (Crash) with the preload radius up full, when playing on a large server with a set page file Also hope you are trying this on an SSD drive and or have the page file set to it. It may help. Try lowering down the reload in the options too.
  4. You know who ED's Publisher is right? ED has full access to ww2 aircraft and the pilots, who also test the aircraft. http://fighter-collection.com/cft/tfc-aircraft-directory/ What's your experience with ww2 aircraft grafspee?
  5. I have tried it out a few times and it's ok to use. Just use a modifier button + TMS left / right etc (Left / right mouse button)
  6. Just not sure it would be worth all that effort $ for ED (MAC / Console VR "Sell point" etc.....?) Would it still be very viable spending / using all those resources for a port. Stick to what you know and what works for the clients you have now and in the future. If it could be done easy for a quick cash up? Well, sure. You would have to do the numbers and I'm guessing not. EDIT: unless you can turn it into some kind of DCS MAC/fortnite. Wow that's some $ for a free game lol. "Superdata estimates that Fortnite Battle Royale beat PUBG in terms of total revenue in February with $126 million compared to PUBG's $103 million" Fortnite reportedly drew 125 million players in less than a year
  7. Imagine how quick to click, if or when VR has eye tracking one day.... This would not be need then I guess.
  8. The documents are found C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\tech\CombinedArms\Doc You just click on the tank (if) playable and then click on the tank icon in the top menu.
  9. I would start with a clean up first, and then repair. The quick and easy way is to download the two files found at the bottom of this DCS support page place then in the DCS World folder, unless you know how to use MS power shell / cmd commands seen on that same page. clean up first, then repair Run these by double clicking on them Also go to your saved game files and delete everything out of these folders C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Saved Games\DCS\fxo C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Saved Games\DCS\metashaders2 If still no go? Rename the DCS folder in saved games, so DCS will create a brand new one. Keep the old as this has all you joystick and missions in it and can be copied back to the new one.
  10. Looking at that chip it's only right on the edge matched to a 1070, To get the most out of it..... Take a look at this CPU Performance In VR All the CPU's are tested with a 1080ti They think it's better matched / balanced to a 1060 Quote "Slower CPUs and flagship-class graphics cards obviously create balance issues. It’d be far more likely to pair an older FX or Core i3 with a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580, not the GTX 1080 Ti we used." So the systems is fairly balanced right now, maybe a little overclock would push the 1070 a little more going off that test. Time for a full upgrade if you want to balance the CPU / GPU out for VR, if moving to a better card.
  11. I had the 1070 You will be way better off getting the best graphics card you can afford for VR use. At the time I upgraded to the 1080ti. Much better to get the most out of the Rift with some eye candy on and also playing decent size missions. Now you have even more options and price. 2080ti...$$ 2080 is close to the 1080ti
  12. It also happens on the Persian gulf map at airports, I think you will find that if you remove the Hornet's that are there it would be better. I remember someone saying they still need work with optimization? It could also be that we are looking towards Vegas (Large built up area) You see this at some airports on the Caucasus map too. I'm hoping vulkan api will help ED smooth all this out down the road with better optimization and utilization. Not exactly sure what the bottleneck is.... It must be throughput limitation of some sort.
  13. I just hit alt tab or Win tab etc until it shows up at the bottom. If your trying to work on a mission and use desktop, some guy's lower the res in DCS down to minimize DCS. See me Alt tab here
  14. Once your at the 1080ti + level BJM, it's all about just using brute force to get more fps / hold stable for DCS. To give you a reference to go off. I can max everything, mirrors on and run SSAA x1.5, MSAA 2x I force DCS to stay at 60fps, I do see this drop in a few different areas / views. Like when on the ramp in the F/A-18 at NTTR. It still only ever gets down to low 40's etc. 95% of the time it holds at 60 even playing on a large server. It just comes back to the api and why ED wants to ditch DX and are building DCS to use vulkan api. This should free up the CPU and allow the GPU to do a lot more work and also allow ED to optimize the many different configurations out there to get the best from what people have available. Perhaps we could get away with just a fairly decent CPU and spend more on getting the biggest GPU once vulkan is out. Quick start on the ramp at NTTR Nothing is maxed out here. 2560 x 1440
  15. Would be very cool to get to feel that landing onto an aircraft carrier.:) This would be me too!!
  16. I think this is what your after dresoccer4 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3036865#post3036865
  17. This is the best I could do after 1 attempt (Not) LOL awhile back. As you can see I'm only halfway through the break (See Tacan DDI Course line) when gear and full flaps are (down 250kts) holding level all the way around. G's at 1% of speed 350kts = 3.5G's 300kts = 3g's 250kts = 2.5G's You hold this bank and (G's Lowering as speed lowers) throughout the turn while staying level. The only thing I would correct here in my video below, that I normally do, is not drop the wing, raise the wing (Up down up) to stay level. What I'm doing is controlling my lift by dropping the wing, normally I will find that sweet spot bank around 30 degrees or and (less) as you slow down into the downwind. That's how I control the lift. I even add some trim up so as I come out of the break I'm close to on speed and just refined the trim. I show the controls in this video Bankler's CASE 1 Recovery training mission.
  18. Just practise On speed AOA Fly level at 2000 feet Pull the throttle back and open speed brake full. When the speed hits 250kts Drop the gear and go flaps full. Hold the nose level (2000 feet) as the speed comes down (Press forward a little) As the speed gets near 150 - 140 release presure if needed and start adding a bit of up trim. Also, bring the throttle back up and catch 130 - 140kts and still stay at 2000 feet. Keep triming now for onspeed without moving the pitch (No presure in pitch on stick) and stay level (Control height) By using the throttle only. Center the E bracket in the HUD with the flightpath marker by trimming. Watch Lex The first video in this thread He go's through energy managment when coming in and out of a corner. Practise what he does in that video. .

    HUD FOV

In the option menu make sure you have user saved views ticked. Pause Trackir and recenter view and zoom. Numberpad 5 and Num enter. You can see FOV when in game. Hold left control + pause twice. Hold Right control and Right shift. Move the camera forward back Numpad / and * Move the FOV with just Numpad / and * Save your settings Hold Right Alt + Numberpad 0 For VR, I just lean in a bit then recenter the view.
  20. For your limitations, Make sure you setup tacan at 10 scale and put it up on the right or left ddi. I would also setup custom snap views i think and bind them to my hotas using a modifier key. Doing some getting started videos, going to get to snap views soon.
  21. The individual controls can be found here C:\Users\YOUR PC NAME\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input I generally just take a backup of the whole setup folder C:\Users\YOUR PC NAME\Saved Games\DCS You can also take a backup of DCS if you want to memoric and copy that back to your new windows.Better than downloading 100 GB C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics Run a clean and repair on DCS once copied across GUIDE: Using DCS Updater to Update, Revert, Repair, or Install Modules
  22. Similar setup, I can hold 60 max settings 2560x1440 SSAA 1.5 MSAA x2 That's also in quite a large MP sever too.
  23. If I want it all correct I would not use any sim unless you are flying with vatsim or pilotedge. ATC starts at 3:00 in video Yes DCS's ATC needs some work and it will, just like ALL the big major other updates already done for free. Also, no sim I know does it perfectly with also taxi directions (Civi only) . The only real way I've played combat mission with semi real ATC / AWACS is in MP. That also go's with any another sim and these days I only use DCS for MP.
  24. It depends on what you also "end up " or at the time find enjoyable to learn and practise . Quick dogfight or quick bfm using the quick start or build your own. I use a trigger using radio comms to start the fight from different positions. Wags f18 campaign is a good balance of being not to faraway from action and to know your place in that mission and use the other flights to get to get the mission done. Help the ai where and when you can etc. Not much into those long flights to do...? Dont mind in mp when the team sets out to do... and its against others. Well thats dynamic and as good as it gets. Thats also when you know if you have learn something when practising.
  25. All my ASUS stuff hasn't missed a beat, touch wood.... Motherboard was last of it's gen, so it should be good I guess. Version 1 of anything has me a little worried, especially with cars. I don't usually buy Version 1.0 of anything.
