  1. You have to keep watching the track a few times while recording, changing to different views etc, until you have enough footage to cut together, just like how the movies take many shots of the same thing with differently shot angles etc. I use action for recording the sim (Free trial) Then you need to edit them together, I do that with sony vegas pro that cost$. I only play around with this, no expert here. With picture in picture, just two full recorded play through edited together, fairly easy. There are other free ones like https://fxhome.com/express That are good to play around with when learning / starting out.
  2. Lex's new video using the AV-8B N/A
  3. Wags is Fishing..... for a response would be the way I would put it... You very much snagged Trev in this thread tho...:)
  4. I ran the 1070 for about year, good price performance card and was running it at 1440P. We didn't have SSAA at the time and I would say it would not be good enough at 1440P to run it, at 1080p you should be good. I recommend not to go under the 1060 (6gb) for 1080P and for some DCS future proofing and if you can go 1070 with 8GB. EDIT: 30 FPS is ok for other civi sims, for combat sim you really want 60. I aim for and lock my system at 60 fps to smooth it out for Trackir.
  5. All I do is hit the VR preset in the options Then change All Textures to high vis range: high Trees to 70-80% don't like the close popping in and out of trees. VR pix density: 1.6 45 FPS is the norm, unless real high and out of built up areas. Not so good for MP, they don't have labels generally so you cannot spot the enemy well or soon enough. I use Trackir for MP
  6. Consolidated a lot of info in this thread nicktune1219 (Slow Speed Practice) Onspeed AOA Video - Getting ready for Case 1 Landings Video I did showing off Bankler's script. There is also another one I just recorded showing the controls too.
  7. That was for ED, it's on the forums.oculusvr.com/developer website, it's a developer using the Rift SDK building and app for the oculus rift and wanted to have Separate Head and Mouse movement in his app.
  8. Drivers should be good, just plug and play. You can checkout the saitek software and drivers, I know little about saitek software, I have CH manager. Have a think about the setup you want. You can just bind these yourself in DCS and setup a button for a modifier. You can try and import if you like. I like to print off the key binding pictures for profiles that others create (Thanks), so I can write on them and make changes or add to it. Here's an example for the A-10C Scope's X52 Pro A10C Profile Black = normal button Red Text = Button + Modifier button (Shift pinky button held in)
  9. I believe this can be done, not sure how this would affect the sim on ED's side? https://forums.oculusvr.com/developer/discussion/2432/seperating-head-and-mouse-movement Quote "The problem is the camera moves the mouse. E.g. if the mouse pointer is center screen and I turn my head the mouse pointer stays center screen. I want it to stay where it would have been in 3d space. It seams that the Oculus head movement maps to the "Mouse X" and "Mouse Y" inputs in unity, so when I turn my head the mouse inputs have value. Sadly I can't find anyway to change this." "Figured it out. I set the Oculus Cameras to not be "Main" then created another camera that is just "Main" Apparently the mouse input is driven by the Main camera rotation." Where you left it in the 3D space, once you move the mouse.
  10. Going to be interesting to see just how much the f-35 maintenance cost will end up.... Got to be quite a bit more than the F/A-18. Joint strike fighters jet into Australia
  11. Love the extra power for ground attack (wow - Worlds apart) and quick to get on station at the AO, don't like the extra fuel stops needed.:( The Gun.....and available decent size load out and loiter time of course...:)
  12. The HUD was at 1.1 at the abeam from a possible 1.2 (Score called me at 1.07) .....I'm calling it good....:D
  13. Yep, sims have come a long way. I spoke to a pilot quite awhile ago about how he use this Q400 to get his type rating. Those same guy's also build full D level sims for training, so the sim is cRazy accurate for training (Every fuse/Training console version) The big thing we still need is a new affordable force feedback stick. Guy's here are still using the Microsoft force feedback 2 (1998) The only real good ones cost.... $$$ and the full software is not compatible for DCS, they say it will be at some point. The force still works, just not adjustable force from the sim. (Sim forces needed more for taildraggers then jets) I'm looking to upgrade and the higher end options at the moment. VKB-SIM Flight Gear VIRPIL Controls Warthog hotas The one I'm after is from VKB (Gunfighter Pro with the MCG PRO Grip) just very hard to get one....Always out of stock. Some of these guy's can also be found here if you need to ask something. 14. Hi nopotential, You should be able to hit left shift + F10 to turn off labels when in mission.
  15. Not sure what your after here, start FCS Bit test at startup? Download Chuck's F/A-18C Hornet Guide and see if you can see the problem. Little more info what your doing or want to do would be good.
  16. Nice Bankler, well done! Here's a quick promo video of your script for a little appreciation for making it. Thanks! Video will get to 1440p @ 60fps, give it time... Seems to be a perfect run....must be still something wrong with your script....:P Don't make it any harder to nail....
  17. Yep, Once the resolution is just a bit better for VR and then grab one of these 3 Dof platforms with yaw, which are getting more affordable you'd be set...:) Headset with mic, bind to hotas. Get to know teamspeak Many use Discord so get an idea how to use that too. It's like a forum plus speech type of thing, depending the ---> thread your in.;) and DCS Simple Radio You haven't ground looped a stearman have you.... Cool video if your into taildraggers Yes, the stearman's sort of ok....;)
  18. That's just a DCS thingy.... Much work is being done behind the scenes to make the engine run smoother, like the Vulkan API etc. Some aircraft do change the FPS in some situations, even on the ground. EDIT: Give SSAA x1.5 a go and turn MSAA (OFF or try x2), also add NVIDIA control (2x supersample) to help if using no MSAA. This may change for me later if things change.... it's how I roll for now..... :) This is what I'm seeing Same settings as here, traffic to low tho. Vegas at 750kts (Frames locked to 60) GPU still only at 88%
  19. I spent good money putting a high end very configurable system together. If I push it to a good level, I'm able to lift the eye candy to a higher level and still have awesome FPS in single play and MP. Many here have spent good money on their PC parts for DCS and other sims/games, you may as well get the full DCS eye candy glory you can, it is the best looking sim available I believe, so I want as much eye candy as I can get.:D The problem is DCS is also the most demanding sim at the moment, perhaps vulkan api will help in this regard we hope.
  20. Hi Gimbal, Checkout this thread that was just started yesterday about optimization. I posted my settings there and have my PC forced to 60 fps to smooth things out, game play and track ir. I show a pic of the F/A-18 Interdiction Mission that I can hold the 60 fps and my system is not at 100%. ED is working on a lot more things like vulkan api to make very larger missions playable. While this is true, I do like to see if my system is max preforming for where DCS is "at the moment". I use msi afterburner now and then so I can see any bottlenecks.
  21. Love my rift for single player with modded label and case 1 for the f/A-18. Not so good for spotting enemy in multiplayer (No labels allowed) and then you will also need trackir, well it's very highly recommended. The OP seems like he really wants to get into MP battles, so for now I would stick to trackir. You really do want to try VR, it's indescribable how good it is, even with the res drawbacks.
  22. Hi BertoneX, Welcome to DCS It makes it much easier picking up a new flight if you already have a good understanding of the fundamentals from other sims. Many here help the guy's just getting start as it can be a big daunting/frustrating a first getting every thing setup. Was just reading the latest newsletter about the new dedicated server technology. It's being tested on the Burning Skies Multiplayer Server, not sure what map it's on? Perhaps take a look at that server to see how many online. Here's their website.
  23. Angelthunder, Know idea what country your in, so not sure where you can buy pc parts from. Spare Sata cables are not generally not left in new pc's, you have to buy one. Here's an example buying a sata cable on newegg the USA website. You can buy 2 x straight plug's on the ends or one straight, one 90 degree end. I'm guessing you could get away with either. 2nd option: Just buy a mounting bracket for 3.5 inch hard drive, that comes with the sata cable. (Do you have one spare 3.5 inch drive bay available?) Like I said before, you could just get an M.2 drive if your motherboard has the slot spare. They are the quickest and easiest to install into your motherboard. Is this your motherboard? (SEE PICTURE) It will say H310 - PLUS on the board. If so I would go with an M.2 drive and put DCS on that super fast drive. Watch the install video I posted in my other post, it's not to hard to setup. If we know it's that motherboard? we should be able to tell you if you need to change bios settings to make it work, you might not even need to change anything and just activate it in windows. If you go with a Samsung M.2 You also install there software and driver. Magician SSD management utility the drivers are down the page.
  24. Not sure why brianjmac..? Something must be affecting it possibly.... Do you use this full line below in the file? options.graphics.maxfps = 60 This is what my pc looks like CPU - GPU - FPS when locked. No Overclock on GPU and only @ 4.8Ghz CPU (Not even pushing near max CPU/GPU to hold 60) That's the point tho right, so she has headroom and makes Track IR smoother. Mission F/A-18 Interdiction
  25. At the moment I'm forcing DCS to 60 fps and can hold that fairly well in most situations. autoexec.cfg (options.graphics.maxfps = 60) It is better for my system with Track IR I run SSAA x1.5 MSAA (OFF) NVIDIA control (2x supersample) The big thing here as you have mentioned (4K) is very hard on any system.....That's why I'm at 1440P G-Sync still, eye candy ---- FPS balance. Your going to have to lower "things" down or try dropping to 1440P (How does it look at 1440P ?) I guess not real good if not at native res... EDIT: Civ traffic I set to low or off normally....
