  1. We know it's a sim and all....If you have to target in and around the towns and cities, than you also have to minimize the civilian casualties. https://fas.org/man/eprint/civcas2018.pdf "Crafting the operational design -- U.S. military planners also worked with partner forces during 2017 to design battle plans so ground forces were able to maneuver around areas of the enemy and civilians in such a way as to reduce harm to civilians." "Conducting shaping actions -- U.S. forces also relied heavily on precision-guided munitions (PGMs) during 2017 to conduct shaping actions designed to degrade enemy capabilities and defenses well ahead of the arrival of ground forces. Although the law of war does not require the use of PGMs when non-precision-guided weapons may be used in compliance with the law of war, commanders understood that shaping actions could use a relatively few, well-placed PGMs to concentrate force for greater effects in degrading enemy defensive capabilities. This helped speed up the successful liberation of enemy-held areas and maximized the protection of civilians and structures. When supporting partner forces, most munitions were employed dynamically as the partner force maneuvered and was in contact with the enemy. By using shaping actions to shorten the period when ground forces would be in contact with enemy forces, the number of munitions employed by liberating forces in the conflict can often be decreased, resulting in more protection of civilians from the dangers of combat."
  2. Skatezilla's tools great, might do a quick video on that soon. I even just double click a bat files to change to beta / release, clean or repair lol and I have the tool. I was just testing ages ago and their still there so....:) Just do what you feel is right...(At the time) So many ways it's driving me...
  3. I even upload the video's using my phone on 4G. 10MB upload on 4G lol. Otherwise I'm stuck on 20MB Down, 1MB up:( It's also not bad using a tether for MP too. Tested it the other night. Got any other ideas for good just getting started videos? I'm not doing pro video's. There is a million of them and they would look daunting and seem to hard for the guy's and girls thinking or just getting started with DCS.
  4. Not that professional;) It would be way to hard to block out the noise around here lol. More interested in the guy's and girls sitting on the fence about having a go. Nice easy walkthrough, have fun setting up etc. 2:55 Joystick Axis commands 4:09 Axis Tuning (Curvature) Smoother controls around the center 5:30 Other useful key commands to bind to the controls for the Free DCS TF-51D 10:08 Bind up the aircraft Trim commands using modifier keys + Joystick Hat
  5. I will add that most only use PL when the CPU is not using all the cores for DCS for some reason? PL will force it to use the cores. This has helped many on the forums.
  6. There would need to be a position to save in said mission setup by the mission maker. Otherwise this would mess up scripts. Like having a save option you add when building up the mission in the editor. E.G spawning "here" will not effect previous scripts. Save Score now at (50% etc) You can save when at way-point 3. When you save this (At set way point), it also saves the score, so you can continue on from there and trigger the rest of the triggers in the mission. That's the only way I see this working. Mission designers then need to allow for this save or saves when building the mission.
  7. "where is the modified file saved" All the key settings can be found under "your" saved games once you start binding the aircraft. C:\Users\YOUR PC NAME\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input If you want to return all the default keys. Highlight the column and hit Reset category at the top. Single entry, Highlight the item and hit default at the bottom. Full reset, delete the aircraft folder from that area. If that's what your trying to do?
  8. This might not be just your system, it's also a multiplayer thingy;) I get this also in very larger multiplayer games, sometimes I don't and others are screaming on comms.:) This is also why servers only allow pings of 250ms, that's not always the case tho, as bandwidth and stable connection is also important. Also the server could be having a meltdown, happens on the server I use. ED is working on a dedicated server as we write. It's in testing now. Just get your pc running as smooth as possible in a large mission in single player and disconnect everything using your internet connection for max bandwidth. TV's, Netflix, phones etc. You could also try this out and see if it helps. EDIT I will also add, when anyone moves lots of ground units in MP, we all freeze or start stuttering. This needs work on ED's side. Also the main reason we use Process lasso is to force the chip to only use cores and disable hyper threading. Right click on DCS icon in PL As you can see DCS only uses the 4 cores on my chip 0,2,4,6 I also set the priority class to always high. App (DCS) Power profile "Bitsum Highest Performance Mode" https://bitsum.com/processlasso-docs/
  9. Download Chucks guide for the L39 ilgrillo. While the lessons in sim are good and all, these days after flying many different aircraft in many sims, I just have a go...:) Watch some YT videos and read the manual or Chucks guides etc. Once you start to get the fundamentals down for the aircraft (Checklists are good) it's just lots of practice.
  10. Part of all this go's back to the Big decision on DX11 / Edge or Fix up all the other things and build a stable game / sim. That Tank military sim stuck with DX9, still is. As they know what it would take $ to move the engine to DX11. This decision would also depend on your clients / consumer needs. Are we happy now ED spent ALL that time (Years) doing this? EDGE,deferred shading, VR etc. Still are vulkan api, ground radar, dynamic campaign. This is why most things are now still further behind. Things are moving forward a lot quick now. More dedicated engineers are working on the Hornet. That would have brought some good $ in for the civi side. Still, these types of modules cost big time to develop, the F/A-18 will help the newer tech for the F-16 etc. The P-51 is the best cost vs sold item in the store. I also feel the pain for all the 3rd parties joining ED. It's a huge STEP up, daunting for any developer I think. ANY developer out there can take one look at the A-10C and think WTF and that's 10 years ago. ED needs 3rd parties that want to step up and get to that level eventually, this will not happen over night and most also have full-time jobs. Even PMDG, A2A would tell you to Poff to build these aircraft and systems at this level lol. So considering what RAZBAM have done so far, there doing really well, in the bigger picture. They will get back to those things and fix them, they are just a small team trying to step up to a very high level set by ED, many years ago.
  11. the selling of a company's products in a particular market or area. biggest market share This comes back to being first to market, plus many more people using MS. (MS) API DirectX. Giving direct access to the video and sound using their API etc. https://www.quora.com/Why-are-all-computer-games-released-on-Windows-but-not-always-on-Macs
  12. Also have an Axis or HOTAS key bind handy for zooming in and view reset for searching for targets. Targets
  13. I believe it's getting tweaked to be better across the board. At the moment you need to use brute force to make it look real nice. Max settings MSAA X2 SSAA 1.5
  14. Trying to do a few video's on getting started and setup. Things like showing how to position your view and save it, setting up controls. HOTAS and single stick with keyboard recommendations. How to create a modifier key and what I use them for to double the joystick assignments. How I setup the controls for FC3 aircraft on my HOTAS. Trackir and why we use it. My Trackir settings in DCS and how I set it up Video 1 was about how to download and install DCS (My old PC and upgrades when starting out),Looking up your PC spec's and making a list. How to join the forum and get help. Video 2 - Options Menu This is about launching DCS, setting the options for your pc and making sure it runs ok. How do I change the default view in the aircraft 15:05 Where are all the DCS instruction manuals (Make links to them 18:10) More manuals - Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library 21:30 I think it's a bit long, maybe only 10 to 15 minutes max going forward. What's the hardest things you find when starting out and getting setup with DCS. Apart from the sim not running at 60 fps on max settings lol.
  15. Please read this viper2097 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.p...39#post3722839 Try to understand how ED can even stay here and just continue at this level (No one else is even close to this modeling) in this "consumer civi side" combat sim. You don't have to except anything or buy anything, it is what it is and ED's hands are tied by this market to stay in business. Plus, it's also the hardest to develop for, with so many IRL moving parts and never ending (Something needs to be better and modeled deeper) Everyone wants it perfect, with the correct amount of rivets, better clouds, , better AI, missile logic etc. Sounds expensive.....$ It can be better now because? PC hardware, VR, vulkan api. This will continue too..... Quote I do refer to the late 90s at the "golden era," in the sense that flight simmers had a variety of quality products to choose from and the titles were continually getting better and better. We sort of peaked around 1998-1999 with Falcon, the Jane's titles, Flanker (for some of us, anyway). But that was about as far as flight sims could go in terms of development cost before they stopped making money for the people making them. Lock-On was one last attempt (credit to Ubisoft, by the way), but even though it did well in the market, it was apparently not well enough to justify further investment. Lock-On (2003) Ok, then here's the million dollar question. Why does Eagle Dynamics do it? For the love of their craft? Out of a sense of charity? Or is just a side project to what they consider the big fish, military contracts? Thank goodness they do, but what motivates them? https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.p...39#post3722839 End Quote
  16. Things are / seem to be getting better as the base is getting more stable (long development) Hard on 3rd parties (Many changes) This is possibly some of the hardest coding / inventing you can do for the PC? Especially the hard ones. swept wings f 14 (FM), Ground radar (F/A-18, vulkan api, etc. Some of these new technologies will help speed up (F-16) future modules. How long will it take? How long is a piece of string? Hope it doesn't take to long... I don't envy ED's engineers trying there best to develop these new technology's without melting my PC. and the also important one... ED would rather it done quicker to, as time = more $ on development. Hard when these guy's are really creating / inventing, hard to give an exact time.
  17. I don't quite understand what your asking for? Have you tried just reinstalling Trackir? https://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/downloads/ I'm running 5.4.2 I have attached the USB drivers if that's what you mean. C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\USB Drivers x64\ Not sure why yours would be missing... I would check antivirus? USB Drivers x64.zip
  18. Hey viper2097, We had a discussion about the right focus a little while ago. I posted some links as to why it is how it is these days. Know one but ED are doing it at these insane levels that WE and ED all love. To keep going they needed to change the business structure. 19. Also, what PD under the VR settings are you running?
  20. He also used DCS footage for examples in these videos.
  21. You can check this using the charts nickos86 Download all of them here This chart is for 34,000 LBS (2)Aim-9 (2) Aim-7
  22. They must have left a virtual light on somewhere, that's draining the virtual battery :) I had a car that did that once. Went totally flat if you left it for a week tho. Must love testing batteries, dedication I'll give you that. Where's my multimeter got to.
  23. If you code for DX12 you cut out all the other windows versions available, Vulkan will still work. Sounds very expensive / double the work. I and i'm betting ED thinks the http://www.khronos.org royalty-free open standards is a better way to go then to be stuck with MS and Win 10.
  24. I'm sure they don't mind a proofread. I know we all make mistakes when starring at something for to long and it's good to get others to check. I would just list them. Page 8 - Chapter - Blah It's something that takes a lot of work and I'm sure help by the community is appreciated.
  25. If you want some real old school with switches for everything. Take a look at the DCS MI-8 ;)
