  1. Hmm.... After the February update it looks like our Spitfire Day may very well be Christmas this year. So close, but so far. Oh well, the best things in life are worth waiting for. Back to the Pony I guess. :pilotfly:
  2. As far as I know it was only the printed manuals that were dropped. When the rewards pages were redone they still included the TFC shirts, caps, calendars and the extra DCS product. I was just wondering if anything had been done to setup these rewards, maybe to be sent out when the Normandy map and all the aircraft have been done, I'm not too sure what they had planned. Cheers, Scream. Thanks Rangi, just read your edit.
  3. Just wondering if anyone had heard anything about the extra rewards. Has anyone received their TFC shirt and other goodies yet? Has anything been set up for claiming the extra DCS product? Cheers, Scream.
  4. I like the veil of secrecy around the arrival of our beloved Spitfire. It's a bit like being a kid at Christmas again, except we don't know when it's going to be Christmas Day! I'm sure YoYo is doing a great job with the Spit, he just needs some peace and quiet so he can deliver us into aircraft nirvarna. :smilewink:
  5. Spitfire. Or a DCS Hurricane MKII.
  6. Je suis Charlie.
  7. The Shure SM58 is best used for live vocals and recording instruments. I'd recommend using the Shure Beta 58 for vocals as it will give a better result, or a Rode NT1 or similar. The Rode microphones are very well made and are reasonably priced. Also, a good microphone pre amp can help give a more warm valve sound. Presonus make some good preamps. Add a few FX and you should get a fairly good result. Cheers, Scream.
  8. Excellent post Teapot. That clears everything up nicely. I'm off to buy some marmalade and ice tea for my next flight, should help my piloting skills no end. :megalol: Cheers, Scream.
  9. Convergence settings for the P51 are set at 1100 feet, if I remember correctly. There was a great thread by YoYo posted sometime ago about the reasons for having the settings fixed. Very interesting information and well worth reading. The FW190 D-9 has convergence set at 600 metres according to the historical information available, there is a thread somewhere showing this, although there is no official confirmation as to what it is set to ingame. I agree with David Red on this issue. It is a bit of a shock at first not being able to adjust convergence as you can in IL 2, but historically it was only a few ace pilots that had the luxury of having personalised convergence settings done by the ground crew. Most pilots flew various aircraft as some would be out of service due to maintenance and battle damage. Even the aces often found themselves in an unfamiliar aircraft from time to time. There are a lot of factors involved with setting convergences, especially relating to the shadow that can be produced by each. The settings in IL2 are simplified, but in reality if some of the settings that are sometimes used by people were truly accurate there would be rounds flying all over the sky. Also the issue of wildly inaccurate loadouts being used becomes a problem. It would be a great option to have a small selection of presets for both convergence and loadouts that are historical and that allow you to give yourself the "Ace treatment". Cheers, Scream.
  10. The Pitot intake is usually located on the underneath or edge of the wing and allows the aircraft instruments to correctly read the airspeed and other atmospherics. If this ices over you will get incorrect readings on various gauges, mainly airspeed and altitude. The Pitot Heater should be left turned off whilst the aircraft is on the ground and then turned on once you are airborne. Hope this helps, Cheers, Scream. :)
  11. A possible compromise could be the new Benq 32 inch monitor, the BL3200PT which has a native resolution of 2560 X 1440. Benq made this with the larger screen size to compensate for the smaller pixel size at the higher resolution. Worth a look. Cheers, Scream.
  12. Place the skin in C/....../Eagle Dynamics/DCS/Bazar/Liveries/Aircraft/FW190. To use the skin for your aircraft first open the Mission Editor, open the mission and click on the aircraft. Then click on the payload tab (second from the left) and select the skin in the dropdown menu. Make sure you save the change and then exit the mission editor. Now load the mission in the game and you should be good to go. Happy flying in your new colours! Cheers, Scream.
  13. Thanks, looks brilliant. Great work, awesome skin. Downloaded.
  14. Yes, we need more targets.
  15. Thanks mambo. Cheers. Working fine.
  16. Downloaded. Thanks for this great skin. Lovely work. Cheers, Scream.
  17. That 109 is a beautiful looking aircraft, amazing work. The temptation to move to the dark side is growing stronger, must resist until VEAO/DCS Hurricane is released, must resist......
  18. Tried to download but the link is showing a 404 error, file moved or unavailable.
  19. Thanks for posting the convergence charts for the FW 190 D-9. It would appear that setting the range to somewhere between 500 and 700 metres should give a nice tight grouping of shots for both the cannon and machine guns. Now to try them out on an unsuspecting Pony..... Awesome work Charly Owl! Cheers, Scream.
  20. This is the main factor, at 130dB it is incredibly loud. At these sort of levels the sound tends to become indistinguishable and muddy, add to that the dampening effect caused by the flying helmet to ensure that the pilots didn't go deaf, and the chances of hearing a nearby aircraft are virtually nil. Notice how your ears become desensitised after listening to your engine on the headphones at a safe but loud volume for an hour or two. I must admit I am very tempted to try and see how good DCS might sound if I run it through my bass amp set up, an Ampeg 400w amp and an old Fender speaker box with four 12 inch speakers mounted in a concave housing. Hmmm......
  21. Does anybody know what range the FW 190 has been set for convergence? I usually set the range on the gunsight to this as a default setting.
  22. +1. Definitely include in your start up routine. I must admit to having tried wearing sunglasses once to reduce the glare from looking towards the sun all the time, couldn't see a thing inside the cockpit....
  23. Awesome work Polaris. Thanks for all the assistance. It makes the transition from IL2 to DCS a lot easier. I'd love to see a beginners guide to getting started with DCS as there seem to be a lot of us in that situation, and I have a feeling the numbers are going to increase with all the new DCS WW2 aircraft coming our way. Cheers, Scream.
  24. I always assumed that was just the ATC getting annoyed with my abuse of the runway. :music_whistling:
  25. Very sad news. A great talent that the world will miss very much. RIP .
