I've been running into this scenario, and the difficult thing is, it's something that works or doesn't work, and I, as well as others have been online trying to figure it out. 1) mission with a wp1 only to a target. (f16 quick mission gbu on nevada for example) 2) I lock or don't lock a target at wp1, I fly past the target 3) I soi tgp, put it in SP mode. It points ahead now. I turn off SP and then slew to target in tgp and lock a target Result - target ahead is locked, but the HUD is still showing the dropdown to the previous lock which is behind me. I can typically repeat this behavior by locking a target, then turning 180 away and looking for a different target. Sometimes if I hit enough combos it will magically snap the HUD back to ahead, but it's not consistent. This has been happening every since boresite was removed two patches ago and is still broken.
  4. Works for me as well no problems. As to the other posts, I can use boresite fine, and in worse situations I just slave the seeker to the target, uncage and fire. Very effective.
  5. legit responses, not sure why so many are critical - there are quite a few bugs around TWS. My recommendation though is to choose wisely between TWS and SAM mode. Unless you definitely need to fire off shots at multiple bandits, the SAM mode is much more reliable. There is a trick I use, I unselect all contacts, then one by one, select, deselect. Then when done I TMS right and I can start switching back and forth. It's a workaround, but works 90% of the time
  6. interesting, maybe it's experience in one vs. the other. I'm very effective in the Viper. Hornet tends to drop bandits, especially in TWS. The Viper is buggy regarding selecting TWS targets, it takes some fiddling around to select them properly

  9. When tanking in Viper/F15 the refueler lights are very dim - I can only see the right side lights when zoomed in now - this started after last patch.

  13. I'm getting errors with latest patch and shader mod 2.5.6.50321 baraz/shaders/deferred/Compose.fx failed to compile (something about effects deprecated for D3DCompiler_47common/lighting.hlsl
  14. Complexity is not an excuse for bad processes. Systematic approach to closed beta testing and releases is key. Each module needs tested, each build needs to pass inspection prior to public release.

Problem is, ED doesn't test, as we can see, so if we all move to stable, who will test. :) That said in all seriousness, I think stable isn't the solution because ED doesn't release new features to stable, it took 6 months to go from 2.5.5 to 2.5.6. No one is going to wait 6 months to fly their newly purchased Jf17 for example. Or take now, I won't be able to fly p47 or channel map. ED created a closed beta tester group. 1. it needs to be expanded to include more testers, on a per module basis 2. ED needs a systematic approach to deploys and determining what is tested and ready vs. what is not 3. Builds need to go through a step by step testing procedure prior to being released to public Most the issue is ED internal processes are clearly broken. They blame the code base (then fix it). But still charge a premium price. If I owned ED I'd definitely have a team writing code for the future, if I wanted to have a future.

  18. Can someone post here a reminder of how to set the correct mask for HP Reverb ?
  19. Two questions: 1. White tracks always show their heading as 'down' regardless of actual heading - is this a bug ? 2. I get 'ghosting' of tracks on the radar. ie. 2 ship group - I hit EXT, now I have 4-6 tracks. Is this a bug ?

  22. There is a complete lack of documentation from ED on this as well. 1. Do you need MSAA enabled on page one (ie 2x) 2. It says 'bloom', some explanation would be good 3. I don't know if I see a difference or not, for me I can increase SS on SteamVR, however, any AA applied seems to do nothing (except use up 15-20fps hit)
  23. The lights are broken in the F15 in the new patch. (Wingtips not working at all)
  24. this - i haven't heard anything more. I'd be happy to have FPS fixed and Datalink fixed, along with INS - it's flaky
