Missing F-14 changelog from today's hotfix

"Fixed the boxy halo around the afterburners visible at night." Still there for me for some reason. And very visible. -

REDEYE_CVW-66 replied to Barthek's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Been waiting a long time for this and it did not disappoint. Very well done. I might have some constructive input down the line, but for now, I am just thankful for the work you have put in. Thanks! -

Barthek's CAUCASUS REDONE 2022

This looks completely next level. My personal request (I don't expect to have it served) would be to have partial snow for winter. The carpet white winter is very rare in the region. But no matter if you do- these latest screens looks incredible. Great work! -

Fantastic stuff. -
This is the current taxi light. Outside- before take off: This is a the moment of touchdown (from the cockpit) I find it hard to swallow that any SME vouched for this one. Why even have taxi lights when the light up nothing? As for the external lights- it is hard to argue with the SME card, since I have never seen an F-14 (especially at night) myself, but I have seen lights- and the Tomcat seems seriously underlit. I thought the point of navigation and strobe lights was to make the plane visible In this pic, the AC is lit up by the moon. It sure would not be easy to see it if not. All lights on full:

Not map related- but to have a "fair" dogfight in the Spitfire Vs 190A/D: Set enemy AI to max, set spit AI to lowest. Vs 109K. Set enemy ai to high, set spit AI to lowest. Junkers 88 is RIDICULOUS. It's garden hose, laser focused, non-stop firing machine guns will chew through all AI like butter. Players can pull it off using very high attack angles and slashing attacks- but safe to say, the air war in Europe would have been lost if the Luftwaffe had these things as they are now in DCS.

Considering it has a paywall I would like to know more. Blown away by what? By the stories told by the SMEs, by the footage of F-14s, or by the overall presentation or all of the above?:)

It might be just a bug. No 4 is lead by no 3 (Element lead). I suggest checking to see if he does what you tell him, for example to engage, and as long as 3 replies, check if he actually does it. But wingman comms are chock-full of bugs and logical problems and have been for ages. Example- grab a flight of Spitfires and engage bandits- and one of the wingman will say "2, engaging bandits...2 engaging bandits..2 engaging bandits.. 2 en..." constantly, all the way to the mission stops.(Even if the bandits are killed and the engagement is over). It has been like this for months and months.

As the title says. I use the NTTR with my group extensively-and while I love the map, the lack of long range city lights in Vegas are disturbing. You practically have to be on top of it to see that is even there. When the PG and Caucasus maps were updated, I was under the impression that this was a first step in a total night-lighting revamp. Is that the case? A response from a member of ED would be highly appreciated.

When flying in multiplayer- I prefer that the the player's pilot voice is muted (Since our group speak on the comms- the AI voice saying the same thing ruins immersion). I am using a great 'No player voice mod' for the standard, default one- but I would like to make one for the supercarrier comms as well. However, I can't find the location of the sound files associated with the Supercarrier. Anyone know where they are?

Was just about to post this. Thanks.

Totally agree. Everyone is excited due to the fact that the map has extreme detail at low level, so that is where they fly (Notice that almost all youtube vids and previews are at low level). At 5000+ feet, things change VERY quickly. The map turns to a flat green with some yellow squares. Treelines become invisible and it feels like flying over a green carpet. I really hope that they will improve this, as their competitors especially one that is about 10 years old and has the channel map, looks extremely convincing at medium to high altitudes. It is all about the blending as you guys have said, and they should have used satelite imagery for it, like they already HAVE DONE for the PG and the NTTR. The argument "But the area have changed" does not work either. It does not have to be a field to field- tree to tree respresentation of the wartime channel. Different landclasses representative of SE england and NW frances agricultural regions would work wonders. Then, coming in low, it should fade and be replaced by artirts textures. However, I fear it cannot be done now, as I think there is no ambition for it at this point, and it seems to be at least, much harder to do it the other way around (Adding/blending sat images AFTER). One can only hope, but in 2020, I was hoping that ED would blow the competition out of the water, especially considering that the map has about 1/4 or less the size of its competitors or even less. On LOW LEVEL, they succeeded. The towns, ports and airfields are a complete marvel and an astonishing feat, but WW2 combat often stretched up to 30,000+ feet, where the effects are far less impressive. Let us hope that they still have some surprises left up their sleeve.

Formations bugged?
REDEYE_CVW-66 replied to REDEYE_CVW-66's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
This has not been the case before though, at least as soon now. I always have wind in my missions (usually around 10 kts) and I have flown hundreds of sorties with AI wingmen in close formation. I just flew a mission in the P-47 where my wingmen would not catch up with me until I damn near stalled the ac. Then they cought up, but as soon as I accelerated to cruise settings, the dissapeared behind me in deep trail formation again. -
There is dirt/growth on them now. Fly closer.

What is the ambition for the Normandy Map?
REDEYE_CVW-66 replied to Neil Gardner's topic in DCS: Normandy 1944
It has been requested and answered numerous times. It will not happen sadly. -
Same here. Very often the coms menu does not work. This has been a problem in some of the German fighters as well.
-
Before, when I set up a finger four, or Vic, with 'close' formation, fighters flew perfectly on my wing. Now, even when very slow speeds and stable flying, they stay in formation, but lag far behind me as a leader. Tested in both P-47 and Spitfire.

cannot reproduce Request: more realistic gunners
REDEYE_CVW-66 replied to Reflected's topic in Bugs and Problems
+1 for this. Had my flight of 4 spits attack 4 junkers 88. Junkers set to average. Spit to excellent. All three squadmates where hosed down by a non stop laser strip within seconds. As a human, I can work around it and survive (more often at least), but as it is now it is just rediculous.
