  1. Just started experimenting with this. For some reason, moving ground unit "glow" with the same lighting effect as a burning vehicle (Except there is no fire- only the low). Is this an option from the campaign (To make units easier to spot?) or is it a DCS bug in the current OB build?
  2. Could it be related to this? From a squadmate: "To all Cat drivers: As you might have already noticed, the awg-9 sometimes fails to pick up targets dead ahead of you since the last patch . This is due to the TARGET ASPECT switch in the RIO pit now affecting PD search modes. This switch sets a closure gate, anything outside that gate will be filtered out. By default, the switch is in BEAM. In this mode, any contacts with a closure rate above 1200kts will be filtered out. This limit is easily exceeded in head on engagements against fast targets. In such situations, the switch must be set to NOSE. There is no Jester command for doing that (yet), but I believe you can edit the input config to include the command to the pilot's list of commands and than bind keys to that."
  3. It would be nice to have it off by default like in the cockpit. (At least as an option in 'settings') 98% percent of the time when looking in external it is to enjoy the sights, not flying the numbers.
  4. Something seems up with the AIM54 again. Still early testing- but in the last build I was able to time after time defeat 2 bandits with TWS shots at 30+ NM. That is when it was introduced that AI won't defend until missile goes active. I was able to achieve this 20+ times against 2xFlanker or Mig-29S combos, ACE and armed to the teetth. The few missions I did tonight had very different results. The AIM54's were easily defeated (the locked as they should) by some chaff and the AI did not even bother to defend. The missiles fly by harmlessly while the AI peppers me with R-27s. Even against a single Flanker with 2x STT shots I was only able to finally defeat him with guns. Like I said, just a couple of prelim tests, to little hard data yet, and I am certainly no F-14 ace, just reporting VERY different behaviors and results.
  5. The state of this product is pretty poor I am sad to say. I have no trouble with an FPS issue here, and tuning some eye candy and extra features there, fixing a little textures over here...etcetc. It is open beta- so that is fine. I rarely complain about some quirks and I often side with ED when people giving them a hard time in forums. But I guess we all have our limits... These catapults/Deckcrews over the last months have been a nightmare- and the remaining lack of logic for spawning (Players getting "delayed to start" with plenty of room on deck) and now JBD remaining up... It is GAME BREAKING. Come on! These are not isolated cases. THis happens all the time in Supercarrier missions. These are primary functions of the product. Before you start teasing briefing rooms and Airboss stuff: Get the basic stuff working- PLEASE.
  6. Also; not edits/triggers/options are set. Just put the flight in- mission start. Note: When I make a purely AI flight, they go after the enemies right away.
  7. I have made a basic mission, spawning in air as the enemy is just about to dive on a formation of B-17's. None of the wingmen report bandits and are unresponsive to calls. ( This also happens to me in the 'quick missions' for the warbirds (at least). Wingmen fly formation but remain oblivious to the situtation.
  8. Superb mod! Love all seasons, but I feel that the winter one has potential for some tuning. I'll try to be more specific later, if there is interest. Summer, spring and autumn look gorgeous. Many thanks!
  9. The 'early winter'/partial snow shots you see here are WIP shots of unreleased material (as of right now). Same for autumn. All of these last pages discuss a WIP version.

  13. My guess it is conflicted with some other texture mod you have installed. Taz's better runways? I don't know. I saw this in another thread though... Sadly cannot remember where- but it was an easy fix. But the point is; it is not the fault of this mod. Open a new thread for it and someone can probably help you.
  14. It is not related to this mod. I don't have that problem. It has to be connected to something else you have installed.
  15. They did tune it some time ago, but it still has problems. One of them is, as you can see the AC at night approaching the carrier, the light are not visible in the platcam, and also, they lights get dimmer as they get closer (As they LOD switches). So yeah, light needs tuning for sure.
  16. Tested the latest and updated Hornet over Caucausus (2.7). Blown away on how you guys sorted things with the spawnings and all that. Fantastic. Had a great strike mission taking out and SA-10 site. A little input in case you are interested: The CSG is VERY close- so close that I almost took the mast off the destroyer flying in front of the carrier doing a standard case 1 departure at 500 kts. They should be spread out much more (I know, I can do it in the init mission- so it is not a big deal). For some reason I did not get a tacan readout to the tankers. It might just be bad luck and out of range or whatever, but I'd thought I'd report it. I tried them all (In AA mode on the Y-band). Also- even when taking off on time I had no way to reach wpt 1 at the given time and was lagging behind the other package elements (They mission worked fine still). Thanks for all the great work you are doing. I generally dislike story driven campaigns personally, due to various tech limitations in DCS, but the DCE campaigns provide superb offline entertainment. Much appreciated!

  19. I downloaded and installed the latest version as of today, using the installer. I load up in SP and select the player slot. Spawning in is fine, including flight members etc.
  20. Running the latest F-14 in PG campaign and I cannot get the cat crew to activate. Tried requesting launch, tried rearm, I am on time. Any tips- or is this just a bug in the current 2.7?
  21. Well, first of all, I have VR- but I use it on and off. And I have enough grasp of the situation to by running a virtual wing for a couple of years, making missions and generally using DCS extensively over a period of 6-7 years. If you check my comment as well, you can see that I do not in any way deny that there are technical issues with DCS; there are plenty. Many of them agonizing due to the fact that they have remained unadressed for years, which I point out I my post. My point is referring to the whining of initial launch problems that have been adressed by the developers as a priority issue and are improving patch by patch. The graphical effects and the clouds, for VR specifically. As for having knowledge about VR without using it myself, it is because half my group uses it and discusses it vigorously. Grasp that if you can.
  22. What a bunch of whining. You just received the greatest update in an age for free and you whine. You are playing a BETA by your own choice. ED is aware of the issues and are working on them- as stated many times. Like you said, you'd rather do something else with you time unless do your liking; go ahead and do it. From what I hear, VR is already much improved in terms of cloud detail on the first patch. Many more are obviously coming. Since I am at it; the OP as well; the lighting IS improved. The sim looks fantastic compared to pre-patch. You have receive a huge graphical update and your 'contructive' contribution to the team is to add more effects? I am sure they never thought of that themselves- but now that you have reminded them, they will probably get right down to it. It is one thing to lament about issues that have been around for years and years and been neglected. That is fair. This is something else.
