  4. I set up a CAS mission over Iran in the Hornet. Flying the mission by myself- butter smooth. I added 1 wingman- and my performance got around halved (Locked at 40 fps). The difference is severe. Meanwhile I can run 20 Bf 109's vs 40 B-17 and run it butter smooth. Something pointing to AI indeed. I can upload the mission if that is useful. I run a pretty solid rig: Gtx 1080ti, 5gz CPU, 32 gigs ram, SSD.

  6. I don't have USN experience, but I know this, the hangar bay holds a limitid nr of ac. With a CVW of 70-90 aircraft, most of them will have to be stored on deck, even in war. I would assume the internal deck is mostly maintanance and repair.
  7. When the big Normandy facelift was announced, it was said that one of the items that would be improved was the English coastline. Interestingly, it was also mentioned in patchnotes (Don't remember which) that England had indeed be 'improved' in some sense. Looking at England in the current iteration, I can see no changes whatsoever. Is something lost in translation here? Was there an 'invisible' update to the British coast? Is this something that is still in the pipeline? Would be nice to fly out from something at at least resembled in the slightest what it is trying to depict. Not expecting miracles here, but fixing the ridiculous forests, adding a coastal town or two, and breaking up the coutry side textures would go a very long way. Not holding my breath this time though, but like the Normandy facelift, which made the map at least acceptable and what it should have been in the first place, it would be a very, very welcome sight.
  8. WW2 (Probably modern- but don't know): Engage a group of enemy fighters with a flight of 4 friendlies: "2, engaging bandit...." "2, engaging bandit...." "2, engaging bandit...." "2, engaging bandit...." "2, engaging bandit...." .... etc. Every 2 seconds. Modern: Wingman call out radar contacts without discretion. In a busy environment they positively never shut up. I am not saying that they say alot- I am saying that they never stop. It is a constant drone of contact reporting.
  9. It is relevant. I have a stress test mission- with 36 B-17's being attacked by 20 fighters. Before 2.5.6 I had 60-120 fps. After 2.5.6, the frames dropped to 17(!) in the mission. Similiar heavy fps drops in other missions, although that was extreme. After the fix, the frames are back to normal, addionally, stutters are gone. But yes- it has to do with frames/performance. At least for me.

  12. After testing it, all I can say is: incredbly well done! I am a texture nut, and I must say this is the best I have seen yet, by far! The textures, colour balance, the sharpness, the way it blends, all perfect! If I have to give some constructive criticism, it is that the mountains at range seem to have snow much lower than what they actually do when you get closer, creating a bit of an illusion. Other than that- top notch! Hoping for the other seasons! (Well, at least spring and autumn). Who knows, maybe you will make a 'slightly snowy' winter that we had in a texture mod before, but haven't had since. Either way- thanks!

  15. This is the 'motion blur effect' enabled. It works as you say, inside and outside on all relative movement. It can be ticked on/off in the settings menu.
  16. A friend in my group made a great looking Hornet skin for our outfit. While the skin itself looks great, it is victim of some strange aliasing, shimmering, visible especially along panel lines, but really around any hard edges. It has nothing to do with my PC aliasing settings, as other skins are fine. I remember seeing this in some other user made skin as well, but that is a while ago. Any idea of what might be causing this, and what the cure/solution might be? The screenshot does not do it justice, because the aliasing becomes worse with movement in the 3d model when playing in game. Any help appreciated.
  17. Each to his own dude. Me and the groups I fly with use the NTTR and Normandy extensively. Pacific WW2 is in it's infancy, but this will at least give a believable environment for those birds when the roll out. As a FREE map- there is absolutely nothing to complain about here.
  18. Are there ground attacks modelled in this campaign, or is it A2A exclusive?
  19. You don't 'break the game' with user made skins. Updates or not. You put them in your saved games/dcs folder/liveries/aircraft name and they stay there until you delete them. You do not need to reinstall them after patches.
  20. Have had some issues lately, with Wingman getting 'timber sweet', and a good range readout to Lead, but lead get NO readouts. Anyone experience that? And yes, I switched from DEST to TCN, and yes I had the correct channel set, as well as having 'pilot' selected. As soon as I switched to the tanker tacan I got a range readout. Had this a couple of times now. Anyone else?

  23. What the OP is talking about is F-14 specific. My DCS runs like a knife through butter on an SSD, but the F-14 LOD texture thing is an issue, yes.
