Is it possible to break out parts from this mod? Like keep the darker water, but the remaining settings at default?

The Channel map looks very impressive from gound level and up to 3000 feet. Above that it looks like a bland green carpet with some occasional orange squares. With this mod Normandy surpasses it by far:) -

I simply cannot endorse this enough. This is completely above and beyond quality-wise and basically gives the map a completely different and much, much more realistic tone and vibe. Simply a must for any WW2 enthusiast! -
Regarding 8 sec stutter interval: My bad, it was a leftover mod. Mustangs shader. Disabled and performance in Syria is excellent. Also noticed: Dramatic improvement in Channel map at airfields, where I before had severe FPS drops. Now they are smooth. Cities still an issue for the Channel though.

... and I can now confirm the same hiccups in Normandy (every 6-8 seconds) as in Syria. Both are Ugra, so that might be the reason.

As someone else mentioned: I can confirm marked stutters/hiccups in the Syria map that were not there before- every 6-8 seconds. (1090ti,SSD, i7,3,7 ghz, 32 mb RAM) Performance in the Channel map seems exactly like before, noticing severe frame drops when looking over populated areas (Ex. Ramsgate free flight).

The formations lights on the wingtip become abruptly visible at very close range, and then dissappears completely just a couple of meters out. This is exactly in the typical formation range (Do a night formation flight and you'll notice it very well. The problem does not seem to be for the tail formation lights). This gives the impression of the lights constantly being turned on/off in formation flight. ON: and then a few metres out- OFF:

Cool. Also, check out Barthek's upcoming repaint of Normandy (In the DCS mods section). Looks fantastic. With that, and hopefully new weather and damage model to boot, it will be a great boon to DCS-WW2 -

Thanks for this! This helps a lot (Will help even more with Biggin Hill in, which will hopefully come later). Sadly, even with a pretty solid rig, performance on the map is questionable, but it least it looks good and feel right. Plans to do it with any of the other missions? -

F-14 external lights- still very weak

Good point- forgot that but very true. Like most ppl here I AAR on a regular basis, but at night, the thing is close to impossible. -
I know that Heatblur has been very adamant about not wanting to change the lighting further. However, as they are now- the F-14 is not even visible on the PLAT cam at night for CASE IIIs- whilst the Hornet (Which is- I agree, TOO bright) can easily be seen on its final approach. With a human LSO, it is practically impossible to give calls. I am part of a group and this is not my personal opinion, but a report of what we experience. Here is to hoping they might consider adjusting them. Real life clip- showing Hornets on short finals. Lights VERY visible.

Overall very good map- but I agree with this. Looking at satelite photos and other... sims which depicts the area photorealistically, the colours are very muted in this map. I reality the colours are more vibrant, contrastful and the forest areas are a much deeper green, not unlike the Caucasus forests.

Why on earth can't just ED implement this by default? It has been around for a long time, has no bad side effects, and benefits several maps. -

I tried what another use mentioned (In some thread) and set my preload radious to around 50% and the effect was DRAMATIC. Even though I have a pretty beefy setup, I struggled with erratic FPS and stutters at fairly conservative 2d settings (No ULTRA, shadows medium, low traffic, 2x msaa). After doing the tweak above I am experiencing a MUCH smoother experience and higher performance overall. Your mileage may vary- but it is certainly worth a try.

How do I know where the border for the Syrian CGI goes? If I want to 'safely'? engage Daesh forces around Aleppo without triggering them? Also- what is the logic for the GCI? Will it scale according to the threat- or will it just sent up single fighters? LOVE the work put into this! A great baseline for building future operations! -
