Hi harf4ng, I believe the messages are played every time (e.g. in one of the following mission I was flying formation wing-on-wing, err. rotor-on-rotor, and he told me to go closer, so go figure...) About the landing spot - he tells you to let the MI-24 land first, so if you watch where they land, just take the next free FARP. Not sure if it was part of the first mission, but in the briefing the position of FARP was marked precisely. Hope this helps, I enjoyed the campaign in the past!

Works (worked, I have not flown for a while), out of the box. Simply raise the throtttle “over the hump” and there you go. Not using any speccial software, just plug and play.

My bets are on May 11th (Friday) as the Top Gun Day is May 13th (Sunday). Even if I had the module ready at this stage, the focus will be on 2.5 for another month once the new wave of players upgrading from stable 1.5 will flood ED with bugreports, so I wold let that settke a bit, which brings us comfortably close to the May release...

Well, grab it while you can, WIkipedia says only 1480 planes (A/B/C/D combined) were produced. :D

Why did I not get the $16 bonus discount on the F-18?
gerd replied to the_soupdragon's topic in Payment and Activation
The way it works you receive $16 for this purchase into your virtual vallet. When paying for the *next* purchase, you can use the bonus dollars to pay part of the price. -
No need to deactivate (and hence no need to activate). The activation of module works for all DCS versions on your computer. This is not fully confirmed yet, but I imagine you will download 2.5, launch the game, it will tell you you have bunch of modules available and whether you want to install them. Click yes and few minutes later you have working 2.5 (plus some hours setting up the controls, playing with graphics settings, etc.) It is up to you whether you delete the old 1.5 or keep it...

Well... YOU are the testers :-D You are willingly using Early Access aircraft in Open Beta environment in order to help find the bugs.

I've upgraded from 2600K to 8700K did some performance tests...

Excellent review! Thank you! Since you have alredy upgraded, I think it is unrealistic to expect the comparison of 2.x, right? The thing is 1.5 is pretty much dead and 2.x is completely different beast regarding cpu/gpu requirements so the results might be different. -
It is the mission included with Nevada by default. Click on Missions -> A10C -> Weapon Practice There are 3 groups of targets marked by smokes. Go for the one on the right, which contains some soft targets. What I see when I watch the bomb fall from the F6 view, only some sparks cover the ground, no explosions are visible and the life bars in the F10 view show the units in full strength.

Howdy, I have been wondering why there are two ways to adjust audio volumes in A10C - one being on the intercom panel on the left console, the other being volume knobs on the individual radio panels / ILS / TACAN. What do the pilots use in real life? Does using one knob over the other have some (dis)advantage? I read the manual but it seems very vague regarding the intercom panel, not even mentioning the ability to change the volume, only to cut it completely off by pushing the knob.

Announcement - new A-10C DLC training campaign
gerd replied to baltic_dragon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Excellent mission, enjoyed full 2 hours of it! Thank you. I found a small bug - while setting up Group ID, the narrator requests code 07, while in the help text there is 01. Minor thing: as we were flying, I have noticed the lead had formation lights on, but I do not remember him requesting this, so I had them off by default. And of course I have noticed juggling with the frequencies was a bit handful at times - would they do this also IRL, or would they use presets? -
I know people who already stopped buying modules since they got more expensive ~ 2 years ago. When the price of the module was usually $40 and people could wait for sales up to 70% if they wanted, they were eventually buying even modules they were not interested in. Now the base price is higher and discounts lower, they simply lost their purchasing apetite. But ED is the only one who has access to the sales figures, so it is fully up to them to set the price in order to maximize their revenues...

Did he mention the version he was flying? F-13 was a completely different beast to the bis we have in DCS - more manoucerable, lighter and lower landing speeds...

Looked at Telegram mentioned above and the first thing it asked me was my phone number. Good bye. fitness88, what kind of trial sites have you tested? Almost all IRC networks have basic web client available on their front page, so click e.g. http://www.efnet.org, choose your nick and there you go.

I'm not very fond of the idea as these real time communications are quite time consuming (ah, those good old college days...). However, if you want to set this up, it is not a huge task at all. Just point your favourite IRC client to your favourite network (e.g. freenode). join #digitalcombatsimulator channel and start chatting. Oh, and probably advertise the channel name a bit around the forums so others know where to find you.

Ok, I have Nevada key, but was waiting for the proper merged release (2.5?) to use it. Now that 2.5 was pushed to 2017 and we got the NTTR update today, I would like to install this 2.0 alpha. Can I use my modules in 1.5 and 2.0 in parallel without spending another activation?

Let's have a look at your previous post: This sounds like live streaming to me - you can see exactly what the trainee is doing. Exactly, you are just observing and commenting via TS. Sure, you can stream any module right now.
-
Gentlemen, it seems to me you have just reinvented Twitch and similar streaming software :-)

Hi, I'm trying to wrap my head around the various radio options we have for DCS. My aim is to have as realistic comms as possible (as in the way of tuning/using radios). Comparing DCS-Simple Radio and DCS-Simple Radio Standalone, it seems to me that Standalone is a clear winner: - does not require TS - has more features - has more active development Is there any situation where I would want to use DCS-Simple Radio over DCS-Simple Radio Standalone? Could we assume that DCS-Simple Radio was an initial attempt, but then the focus shifted to the Standalone and the original will be slowly abandoned?

Well, 6 years and not even 25% performance increase according to this test ? ...sad. I agree it might be worth it when building new rig (lower power consumption, etc.), but as an upgrade it is a waste of money.

Thanks a lot Chuck for your guides! May I have a small suggestion? Could you add some kind of indication when was the guide last updated? Like a timestamp on the first page of the guide so as to know whether we should redownload the guide and search for differences?
-
Besides the points I have mentioned earlier, the mission editor now does not allow to setup those 3 near NDB presets anymore (this should be closer to the real thing - thumbs up). The manual has to be updated accordingly - starting at the bottom of page 181 and continuing through page 182.

I share your sentiment - I have tried many excellent checklist apps, but unfortunately they are mostly dealing with single module only and each app has slightly different interface. I came across this page which contains checklists for several DCS modules. The page is very spartan and weird to use on a desktop, but when you browse the checklists on a touchscreen mobile/tablet, it works pretty well. You can even pin the checklists to your homescreen for offline use. The content seems to follow the official game handbooks, which is both good (I like to follow the official documentation) and bad (there are some illogical steps in the official docs)

Thanks DeJohn, I was suspecting something like that.

Given the recent UN campaign fixes in 1.5.3 I have decided to refly the campaign again to finally get past the mission with the rebels in the city. Now the 2nd mission (delivering stuff to checkpoint 8) starts at 7:10am, which is in complete darkness. Even after the RTB at 8:00am one can see some hints of the dawn, but it is still dark. With these conditions it is easy to miss the red marker smoke (which looks black at night). If I remember correctly, the mission was originally set in daylight and was much friendlier to the newcomers.
