My first attempt at a cinematic style video
javelina1 replied to GR00VYJERRY's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
great work their M8, very nice looking video! -
Indeed, one tuff bird! Most of my gauges were non functional from the damage. Hydraulics shot up as well. I brought her home, and landed by listening to the engine pitch to avoid stalling. I fly her so much, almost becoming a 6th sense listening to my bird.... she does talk to me.

Hi M8, PETG is a printing material. It's a bit stronger than the run of the mill PLA material, used by most 3D printing setups. Neither are as strong as ABS. But with ABS, you have to deal with fumes. Hence, I don't print with it. I've tried printing this mod in both PLA and PETG, and no matter how careful I am, I still end up snapping off one of the tabs. But the mod still mounts up just fine with 3 functional tabs. I do like using it, but you do have to turn down your sound level a bit. Otherwise, you'll blast your ears. Also, when mounting the HMD with the mod and ear covers, you do have to slightly pull out the HMD speakers when you put on/ take off your headset. I may go onto TinkerCAD and try modifying this mod a little bit. If I do, I'll share the results. thx, -Jav

Amen bro, me too!

Woot buddy!, you're almost there! I know the feeling, once I had my 3090 in my hands. An awesome feeling, after spending literally months doing the F5 tango on multiple websites, every morning...

I was on the list for a number of cards. I managed to snag a 3070 for my son, after being in the queue for 2+ months for that particular sku. I was fortunate to get my 3090 via best buy. just good timing for that one...

Just finished a quick flight with this mod. Wow, all I can say is that it's AWESOME! Definitely worth the effort. It kicked up the sound level and immersion by a factor, INDEED! I printed the first set of speaker adapters using PLA. The author said to use PETG, but I had PLA in the 3D printer and ready. So why not. I did the install, and one of the tabs broke off. But, it still held in place with 3 tabs instead of 4. (I printed with a 80% infill, but still the PLA isn't up to the task for a little bending action from the install). I did not permanently mount the pad covers with the supplied 3M tape setup. Knowing now, I'll do another print with a PETG version, and then mount with via the 3M. For the prototype I used a Velcro setup. It worked fine, even though you see a gap in the picture, it does seal up when you put the HMD on your noggin'. Regardless, this is an awesome mod, and glad I stumbled on it. The only drawback I see is that with the old setup, prior to the mod, I could barely hear Wifey-pooh when she came into the room to ask me something. Now, there's no way in "heck" I'll hear her with this mod.

will do buddy. I have the adapters already printed out. Amazon has the pad covers inbound tomorrow. So I'll post an update shortly after delivery.

Heck, I'm gonna give this a try. Ordered the recommended ear pad covers, and will print out the G2 speaker adapters later today. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4720263

FWIW, M$ has an update today which has verbiage regarding fixing game stutters, etc. (I don't experience the stutters, but sharing info nonetheless...) https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-gaming-issues-fixed-in-kb5004296-how-to-download/

I have a 3090FE, and have an MSI profile for DCS, (and the other sim), set at 825mV & 1815 MHz. My G2 fly's along just fine, locked at 45fps. Plus, by GPU temps when in DCS are around 48-51C, and the memory is around 82-84C. I really do like the benefits of undervolting, indeed... As you noted, I do NOT see any sort of erratic stutters in VR. I know I could probably push and squeeze my undervolting further, but it's been solid, and that's what counts. for grins, I also have a profile for what I call just desktop mode. where the mV & MHZ are dialed down further. my GPU temps are around 37-38C & memory is roughly 62-64C.

javelina1 replied to Thunderbolt Lightfoot's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
thanks OP, great stuff! -
I ended up getting this as well. was delivered about 10 days ago. really helps with my fitment and HMD overall balance on my noggin'. as eagle notes, well worth the investment. (I went with the 100g counter weight setup).

RC2 working pretty good for me in that other sim... will try it out in DCS later today.

there's a RC2 made available hours ago, anyone tried that?
