  1. My guess is that this is the true reason. Developing a new DCS module represents a big investment and you need to be certain that your sales will at the very least cover that investment. There are exceptions that explain the existence of less famous aircraft on DCS, for example the C-101 was the result of the love that its spanish developers have for it, same for the JF-17 and even the current Viggen is the result of the love a swedish group had for it, they developed it without much regard for if it would be profitable or not.
  2. I wonder the same, as some posts look like teenager stuff
  3. BASE_SENSOR_PROPELLER_PITCH is the name of the Parameter, "0" is the value it had at the moment I recorded it. When I'm using a Parameter, I usually have to do a lot of trials and testing, whenever I discover the full meaning of one, I take note of it on my own documents so I'm able to re-use it on the future ... but there is a lot of trial-error in the process. I employ the LUA Console component of DCS-BIOS, which is a software used mainly by people who build physical cockpits for DCS, as this allows me to check parameters values during different phases of flight. This is an old software, but it still works for me, here is more info:
  4. This is the list I have on this, the values correspond to an in-flight status Spitfire Parameters.txt
  5. None that I know of, multiplayer mission making is much more difficult than a making a single player one, while at the same time the buying public for such a mission is smaller, so it would be a wrong business decision to develop a MP campaign instead of an SP one. If you wan't to fly MP, go into a Server and meet with your pilot there, you could then have as much fun as a SP campaign can offer.
  6. Then the best option is to replace your drive with a bigger one, even if you get to split your terrains on individual drives, it will be just a short term solution as your storage needs clearly are not being met by your current drives.
  7. it's on windows command prompt, if you are not comfortable with this kind of operations please get help from a more experienced friend, as bad linking can impair your DCS
  8. hello, thank you all for sharing your thoughts on this
  9. Yes, you can make a hardlink for the Maps folder, so that it points seamlessly to a folder on the other drive. The default name for the original folder is: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\terrains you can create on D a destination folder, for simplicity I suggest keeping an identical folder hierarchy, only that its on the other drive, like: D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\terrains The command to create the link is mklink /J terrains "D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\terrains" You will need to delete the terrains folder on C (after you moved its content to D), as the link will take the place of the folder.
  10. Great review, thanks for sharing with the community
  11. Bump, no one has had this issue before? Here is a draft of the mission I'm editing, where you can see the clouds I'm using: Also, when I place the radar in Low Alt mode, the radar contacts I had at that point vanish, and return when I switch back to just Sidelobe compensation ... my understanding of the manual is that this could happen only with the farthest contact, not all of them. Hopefully another user can tell me what I'm doing wrong, please? Cheers! Eduardo
  12. You already copied the entire game, why don't you simply test it by launching DCS, to see if its performance is good enough for you?
Salu2, Eduardo
  14. Ahh, now I understand your point. Agree, but on my case I actually prefer the bigger size of the window, making for easier to read text ... but ofc everyone can use DCS in whatever way he likes best
  15. Hi all, I have tried a wide variety of Cloud types for my mission's weather, but seems like none of them causes the kind of radar returns that we used to have, for example this is an image from Chuck's Guide: I can't get anything like that on my current mission (I'm trying to check the effect of the Weather Filter button). Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe the new clouds engine of DCS affects the MiG-21'a Radar algorithm? Also, the Filter for Low speed mode does not seem to work: I have an Il-76 at 600 Km/h, an An-30 at 300 and an Helicopter at 100 Km/h, and all of them show up on my radar screen, independently if I have the filter ON or OFF. Does anyone know if it is currently bugged? Thanks for any help you can give me. Eduardo
  16. soft links didn’t work for me, so I use hard links.
  17. the Spitfire already has a kneeboard with maps, surely you mean something else?
  18. Thanks for the interesting details I started on DCS on 2013 and purchased my MiG-21 on Dec/2014, but somehow I missed all of the interesting stories and development details. Thank you everyone for every story and detail that you bring to this thread. Hi, As I said on my first post, I simply want to know more about the genesis of this DCS Module that I enjoy so much, it was never my intention to fly back to FC2, as I'd rather fly the MiG-21 that we have today on DCS.
  19. Hi, Thank you so much for answering my curiosity I understand that Laszlo Becz started developing his MiG21 Mod around 2010 and initially worked alone. On 2012, after the kickstarter campaign he was able to bring Novak Djordjijevic into the project who acted as an SME since I understand he was a pilot with the hungarian air force. The Mod was developed initially for Flamming Cliffs 1, but the release version was actually for Flamming Cliffs 2, and was released around 2013. At that point I assume ED showed interest on developing the MiG-21 into a full fledged module. I guess that Rolandero , Cobra and Rudel came into the project on 2013 and then Leatherneck Simulations was formed, and the MiG-21 module was finished at the end of 2014. I don't know the reason behind it, but seems like Laszlo left the project before the MiG-21 3rd party Module was released. I guess during 2014 Leatherneck started developing the Viggen, which must have placed much strain on the team, as on 2017 Cobra left and formed his own Company: Heatblur, with the then just released Viggen and starting the F-14 development, while the remaining three members of Leatherneck changed the name of the company and started developing propeller modules, first the CE2 and then the F4U. Its amazing the sheer quantity of people that helps with the development of each DCS Module, seems the typical DCS user does not appreciate how much work is behind each such development. Super interesting, thanks a lot for the link. I guess the 15,000 dollars covered just a small amount of the development costs, Laszlo mentions " I need a fund to pay the DRM protection, video and sound producing also need to pay a better texture artist than me to improve the airplane presence and outer and inner textures as well." Thank you both for this rare insight into the early DCS development, I guess modern aircraft Modules require a much greater effort as DCS has increased its internal complexity quite a lot. Best regards, Eduardo
  20. not to nitpick, but the c-101 has a built-in campaign too.
  21. please, attach your dcs.log file, to look for clues
  22. Hello all, On yesterday's DCS patch, the MiG-21 was updated with RSBN & ARC stations for both Sinai and Kola maps, so the User Mod mentioned above is no longer needed to run Mission M03 - ARC & RSBN Navigation. I'm now updating the file at User Files so that it does not include the aforementioned Mod. If you had it installed, the DCS patch should have replaced the Mod files and there are no duplicates so no action on your part is needed. Best regards, Eduardo
  23. Its a way to customize the standard Cockpit View keys of an aircraft, typically binded to the numeric keypad keys. Snapviews behave the same but are binded to LeftWin + Num1 ... LeftWin + Num9 and they are defined by the user, for example here I have defined a snapview for the MiG-21 radar, to use on a radar training mission that I'm editing:
  24. Hi, Thanks a lot for the heads-up as I was not aware of this, I will now check my Navigation training mission to get rid of the User Mod that I was employing Edit: Fortunately, the mission itself did not require any changes, but I removed the old RSBN user Mod that was included within the Training Pack file so now the pack does not break the Integrity Check of Multiplayer. Best regards, Eduardo
  25. Thanks for the interest on this matter, unfortunately that mail no longer exists: Remote server returned an error -> 550 550-5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist. I found on YT a recent interview as he is the author of a new book on weaponry: So I wrote to the YT channel owner and hopefully he would be willing to provide a current e-mail address If I find anything more, I will update this thread.
