Is there a bombsight planned?
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to Jacks's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I think there was something on aiming the bombs in the manual. But it is rather impractical. You are much better off downloading the mod that allows you to carry the S-24. (aim it as you would a cannon pod) And this is historic accurate as well. -

This is not a pic, but the perfect thread for this little snippet... Having a working Fan in the Mi-8 in DCS is really cool! -
Is there a bombsight planned?
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to Jacks's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Aiming bombs is a kind of lottery right now. I used to be pretty spot-on with the bombsights in the old Il-2. But I guess I can't apply that skill in DCS anytime soon. It is just the way it is. I think they are concentrating on the development of their F-5. Wich is awesome and a very good addition to the MiG-21 (as adversary), the F-14 (as the MiG-28) and NTTR, as agressor. And besides, we got working fans now. Really, the Mi-8 is finished!!! -

BBI-32 is from Leo Bodnar, right? It only supports buttons. So no POT-meters. Leo Bodnar has diffrent kind of boards. Wiring-up a POT meter to a BBI-32 doesn't do anything. I am not sure what you want to do with the Logitech stick? Are the pot-meters bad and do you need to change them? It can be done. But unless there is some defect in the Logitech-board itself, it is better to leave it as is. Plastic Logitech sticks are not made for modding. I have a bad experience with it. You can however use many switches and buttons and Rotary encoders on your BBI board. What you want to assign the buttons for is entirely up to your imagination and dependant of the modules you usually fly. Altough having switches for Flaps, Gear and Airbrakes are commonly shared among multiple aircraft.

My Peruvian chick thinks DCS is a childish hobby. But she prefers me having this hobby much more then other hobbies like drinking and chasing other women. So I am in the clear. :music_whistling::lol::thumbup:

[NO BUG] Chaff Flares no longer working.
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to ThePanic's topic in General Problems
The current release of Chaff and flares are... troublesome. I can't really say what is wrong. Or when and how. But thanks for putting this on the 'to-do' list. :) -
Isn't the MiG-21 supposed to be a day-interceptor only? It is possible that the strobes on the MiG-21 LANCER was added as a NATO requirement.

One of the cheap alternatives for the TrackIR. Wich is very expensive. I saw this appearing on Facebook. I think many people here might be interested as well. I did not make the review. Enjoy!

Need to buy a new monitor
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to uboats's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Those are not specifically made for gaming, but the Dell Ultrasharp line of monitors are awesome with DCS. Probably less awesome if you play a lot of kiddy FPS games. I use the 25" version. It is 2 inches less, but the same resolution (2550X1400) and 200 euros cheaper then the 27"version. I ran DCS on a 1080p resolution on a generic monitor before, but when I saw the Dell Ultrasharp with DCS at a mate's house, I was sold. -

For some reason, the cockpit language of my Mi-8 turned into "Chinese" all by itself. Put it back on english. Also, there is a bug with the english cockpit by Devrim I think. Anyways. I had the same issue, did a Mi-8 repair and put the cockpit back on english manually. Every label is now in english and the mirrors are working. -
Another campaign trigger issue
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to andqui's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Yeah... That's an old one. It should've been fixed a few patches ago. Is your DCS installation up-to-date? Anyways, here's how some people handle it. Just land on top of their heads! and crush the horrible terrorist! IIRC, they are on the roof of the big flat building. This is a crude but actually the most fun solution! See screenshot below. Other solution, try to load-up some of your favorite weaponry at some Helipad and shoot them yourself. You'll be able to finish the mission as intended afterwards. The best solution is this: As posted in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=124120 -
Yeah... me too! :music_whistling::thumbup: I had a spare pot-meter in my desk drawer. I bolted it under the handgrip, soldered some wires and spring-loaded the pinky paddle. Now it works exactly like the brakes on the L-39 (or the other russian aircraft:))

MFG Crosswinds in a Volair Sim?
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to Beeroshima's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
From the pictures I found on the internet, I think not. But I suggest you contact MFG yourself and ask them about measurments. And also, a bit of DIY probably will make the pedal sit a bit above the pedal-tray so that it stays clear of the frame. You can contact MFG here: http://mfg.simundza.com/index#about (bottom of the page) -
Mi-8MTV2 Bombing tutorial
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to Ralphk's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
ps. I think there is something about how to aim bombs in the manual. It is very imprecise. And it depends on your height above ground, airspeed and a stopwatch IIRC. I did not have any issues with this mission. But you have to be very high-up before you drop the bombs.
