8" TFT monitors help!
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to AstroEma's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Wich monitor and power supply? Are you sure you don't mix-up AC and DC power-supply and demand? According to your specs, this should not be a problem. ps, Most PC power supplies have a 12VDC output as well. It might need some tinkering with cable and connectors to get it connected to the monitor. But this way, you are sure that it has at least the same 'ground'. But please, give us some more specs on the power supply and the 8" monitor. -
It is possible to land like that. But you must realize that any VSI/VVI has a few seconds delay. At least in real-life. So getting a decent sink rate is done by maintaining the correct nose-up attitude and forward speed. Only half an eye should be kept at the VSI dial. And One and half an eye on the horizon and speedometer. And the guy in the vid has a rather wobbly approach. AI is doing an approach and touch down at 200 km/h. This is decent. However you can not see the runway over the gunsight that way.

Anybody seen this vid? https://www.facebook.com/Aviodev/videos/827203074074830/

I don't think the radar can be locked to anything in fixed-beam mode. Just lock the target in normal mode should do it.

That's just what the kneeboard needs!

Russian tooltips in English cockpit
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to JG-1_Vogel's topic in General Problems
For the hints, you can select "english" as cockpit language in the options\special\MiG-21 menu. But if you, like me, want an authentic experience and want to keep the russian texts, there is an easy fix. Go into your DCS World\Mods\Aircraft\MiG-21bis\cockpit folder and open the file "hint_localizer.lua"with Notepad++. Line five says: Country = "RU" Change RU to EN and enjoy. :) As for the canopy, it is known. I thought it was supposed to be fixed in the last patch. Maybe you can change some of the graphic settings (most specifically "view distance") and see if that helps. -
The current 23mm gun is a bit different then on the MIG-21. It has quite a bit of trajectory drop compared to the 23mm laser gun of the Leatherneck MiG-21. The manual states this on page 244 But there are no instructions on how to use it on aerial targets. We've got a gyro stabilized gunsight so in theory it should be possible to hit manouvring targets quite accuratly. (if they are not too fast of course) In order to do this effectivly, we need to know what the distance is that the bullet stream crosses the crosshair again. The way I see it is that the gun shoots upwards a bit (through the "zero" of the gunsight) and after a little while, the bullets will inevitable drop below the gunsight again. So it crosses the gunsight middle twice. Is there any data on this? It is essential to know for aerial gunnery.

AI wingman landing lights always turned on.
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to Amarok_73's topic in General Problems
AI is very stupid. It is known. But then again, having an AI wingman who can use IR missiles head-on is awesome! :) -
Is he the one with the Big Adolf Galland like moustache? ps, google translate can be used for translating this article.

If you progress through the campaign, you will gradually fly more difficult missions. Including snowstorms and dropping flares at night in pitch-black circumstances. At the end you realize it was a flying school wich let you learn the aircraft in a natural and story driven way.

Chapstick... really... I would never have guessed that. It might never work for greasing in other parts of the joystick. But I'm glad it works for you! And it is great for your lips as well! :megalol::megalol::megalol: -

INTERVIEW – POLYCHOP SIMULATIONS
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to Simworld.cz's topic in Polychop-Simulations
Can I read back the interviews? The provided links do not give acces to the interview. -
In an interview a while back, it was stated that they allready modelled this variant with the 20mm guns. Both in 3D models and in programming. (wich I think would be awesome!) But they are waiting for the eurocopter group to give them permission or something. I can't really say.

I think the EBAY link that sokol posted earlier is your best guess. Some mechanical skill is required to 'liberate' the proper component tough. pot-meters are there in great many variations. I don't think a 'normal' electronics store has the specific component you need. Best of luck!! -
Problem lubricating X52 pro...
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think the first one from here is the best. http://lubricantesygrasas.com/es/60-slippery-white-grease-c1-grasa-blanca-con-ptfe.html It is very expensive tough. The second one I can not find a technical description of the properties of the grease on the website. It should be the same. But I would go for the item from lubricantesygrasas.com. Maybe if you look a bit more, you can find something more cheaper. I am not an expert. That is why I want to see some technical description. I want to know the properties of the grease. Avoid anything with mineral oil or silicone based. -

Problem lubricating X52 pro...
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Me siento mucho. You should try a PTFE grease. Or a Teflon grease. The thicker the better. And remove the old grease first. Anything with oil or silicon in it can damage plastic parts. I used this for greasing my Warthog Joystick. (it is plastic inside!!!) It is expensive. I think you can get something similar and cheaper if you look for it. https://www.conrad.nl/nl/hoogwaardig-gear-flon-vet-806109.html Tenia un X52 también. Son buenas. Espero que puedan resolver el problema. ;)
