Mig15 has a poorly right gear at the Airport.
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to Mizzy's topic in Bugs and Problems
Isn't that just from a botched landing? Something similar happened to me a few times. -
Yup... try letting him loose his energy advantage. The age-old trick with enemy planes with superior ceiling and climbing speed. Then 'corner' him with a quick max-G turn and rip loose with the .50's! and the awesome gunsight. Seriously. Just keep turning. It is an awesome flying machine. The usual low-speed problems are not really noticable above 300kts and only get a bit annoying at 250.

What he said. You were not in the proper weapons envelope. Just hold the electrical cage button and aim the guns with the fixed pipper. The guns are not supposed to miss that close.
-
I think it is one of the easiest aircraft to fly against. The pipper seems to be 'off' a bit. Now you have to point it in front of the nose and fire when it hits the outer circle. Dogfighting a MiG-15 AI in an F-86 is very easy. Just keep on turning. If you don't get it the first turn, just keep the stick pulled back and let the 'all flying tail' and hydraulics do the work for you. You'll get it in the next few turns for sure! p.s. do you have the correct wingspan adjustment? It should be 33 feet, the 'tab' should be a fair bit on the left.

Wind simulation with a fan... But there are no open-cockpit airplanes in DCS. -

DIN A papersize is pretty much accepted all over the world, except in the US where a wide variety of papersizes exist with puzzling names. Anyways, thanks for the work you put in! :) -
And hoping that eventually there wille be an affordable one, without the silly game-controllers and gadgets that nobody really wants... Anyways, this is only a glove as it seems.

I got my own panel allready. As I wanted it to be not too complicated or costly, I just took a generic green spraypaint can. And did only one layer. So now it has some scratches and weathering, just like a real MiG-21. Anyways. What is your MiG-21 panel plan? I Always love to see other people's creativity. :)

Any person who knows how VOR navigation works can work this one out in 15 minutes. But if you are not interested, you want people to make a mod for you?
-
You dial in a channel and a radial on the RSBN and voíla... it is easier then the VOR system. This is not hard.
-
Russians are not likely to do that. I don't mind. I like a finished module. Altough the Belsimtek "bèta's" aren't bad at all! I think they will release it when it is ready. I trust them. They delivered good quality stuff in the past.

Vortex accident video.

He started going backwards. Always a tricky thing to do in any helicopter. Was the big flag still hanging from the chopper? Or was it disconnected? You can escape a VRS, just pray you have enough altitude. This one was really close to the ground to begin with. -
some times pipper does not track target when lock on target
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to wumas0201's topic in Weapons
It is not a bug. The pipper in the real MiG-21 does not track the target either. But it is also an option in the difficulty settings in the specials/MiG-21 tab. If the pipper is tracking the target, the missile is within the launch parameters (range, height etc) In the real aircraft, you only had the 'tone' and I think and the green light besides the head-up weapon sight. (it is not a HUD as it does not display any information on heading, speed and altitude) -
Yes. You can ask! Maybe I wasn't clear in my first message. I'll explain a bit more: In the past we've been able to buy beta modules. They went for full price, but they were not finished by a long shot. Not even real progress after a year or so. So I don't mind trying out new modules and I see the value of a lot of beta-testers (wich you essentially are if you buy a beta module) but selling it for full price is ripping people off. You are not offering a full product. I want to be able to fly the Gazelle sooner then later. And I want to pay full price for it. And I expect a 'finished' product for it. I am also very very aware that a fully detailed DCS module is simply too complicated to be fully functional, without any bugs whatsoever at release. So I don't mind waiting a bit longer for that. I really liked the way the whole L-39 albatross release was done. Just releasing a Beta version, wich was almost fully functional, waiting a few months to iron-out all the bugs and then releasing the full product, together with the ZA version and the price went up to reflect that. So early buyers felt priveliged that they had the beta product for less money and the rest was for free! I remember seeing a vid of the L-39 module as early as 2012 or 2013.
-
So.... Today? :)
-
I'm a bit 'finished' with paying full price for modules wich aren't even half-finished. Altough some complicated pieces of software as a DCS modules probably will never be really finished. I hope the Polychop guys will release it when it is ready. Even if I have to wait for another week, month, year.

yeah... at first the UH-1 seems to want to kill you. Especially if you are acustomed to the nice and stable Mi-8. But the UH-1 requires constant small corrections with the stick. Use of the force-trim [insert Star wars picture here] is recommended. I also have about 25% curvature on the pitch and bank axis.

I am sorry sir, the F-21 was not an F-14. :music_whistling:

Mi-8MT weapons mod
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to Avimimus's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
So I tried this mod. But the UB32 pods are rather low poly models. I modified your lua file to include the UB32 pods from the MiG-21. They are visually much more attractive and they have the exact same effect. Installation method: 1.Unzip 2.This will overwrite a LUA file. Backup the original if you want. But you should also get it back with DCS repair. (Or possibly a new official patch) 3.Copy and paste the contents of the zip file into the main DCS folder. This should work for any version. (stable, beta or alpha) 4.If it doesn't overwrite anything, it is not installed correctly. No multiplayer problems encountered as of yet. Enjoy! PS, now uploaded the correct file. Mi8 Weapon mod.zip -
The PK3 gunpods are not of much use against land-targets. I don't know why. I tried various truck targets as well. Nothing appearant happened. Probably because of the aforemented reasons. But try a bit of AA, I shot down airplanes with it. Probably also the reason they aren't used very often in real-life? I can't seem to find any pictures of real-life L-39's with the PK3 gunpod.

How about this one??? The 'new' Irian livery. Remember, they still activly use the Tomcat!
-
I noticed that if you fire the cannon, the ammunition explodes automatically after a few seconds (if it didn't hit anything first) It looks a bit like the AA Flak guns and their shells wich were used in WWII. I assume it is some kind of safety feature so that when you are in some kind of aerial dogfight, not all the explosive ammo will hit random places in perhaps a city. Does anyone know after at what distance these shells explode?
-
I was messing about a bit in the 'Tentacle soup' Mi-8 campaign. And I was wondering, what is the actual ammo load-out on the UPK-23-250 pods? I can't seem to destroy even lightly/medium armored (self propelled) artillery untis with it. The amunition(count) is somewhat limited and we can not choose what kind of ammo-loadout. So it seems they are loaded with HE rounds only wich make a big bang on impact and does nothing against armored targets. I was expecting it to have a mixed load-out of HE and AP rounds wich should make easy work of M-109 howitzers and MLRS units. I found the 12.7mm gatling much more effective against armored targets. This round is much much smaller and it seems a bit strange to me this one is more effective against those units. And it has way more ammunition then the UPK-23-250 pods. Shouldn't we be able to choose the type of amunition ourselves? It is also possible on the A-10C and the MiG-21.

Erratic head moevent during entering translational lift
1.JaVA_Platypus replied to kintaro's topic in Bugs and Problems
D@mn it... for us who doesn't have this problem, it is very hard to imagine what exactly is wrong. Can someone make a video of it? Not a track, that probably won't work on my machine, a video on YouTube. -
Flying is not really what you are doing in an A10. And if you do, it is quite slow and forgiving to fly. It is more like system management, you are like an ICT guy in the cockpit. I often felt that I was lost, due to monitoring the wrong MFD pages, or trying to retrieve data that I also needed. Loosing situational awareness in a warplane is never a good idea. The MiG-21 is quite the opposite. If flown near the envelope, it is a handful. Landing in one piece is Always a relieve, you don't have a magical pointer that shows you where you touch down. And even a good touchdown will greet you with lots of whobbels and shaking. Nav/com systems are very basic and radar is very limited in range and usefullness. MiG-21 lovers say it is a real man's aircraft. A10 pilots are cissy ICT guys and MIG-21 pilots do the real flying. In a sense that is true. While it has many shortcommings, it is also a very rewarding and almost charming aircraft to fly. It has personality. MiG-21 pilots generally know what is going on around them. Not by looking on different MFD's and and checking the aforementioned 500 MFD pages, but by looking outside and the feel of their pants. This is possible because of the simplicity of the aircraft. A good quality in a fighter. Anyways, they are quite different. And definitly one of the better third-party modules. ( I own both the A-10 and the MiG-21)
