Why bother when the Harrier is actually being released the following week and they can go "available now!"? End of last month saw the Harrier EA purchase newsletter.

Aviodev C-101 CC should be done in a matter of weeks: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3297292&postcount=487

Well, yes and no. It's the same PFM system when we're talking DCS. AFAIK ED's PFM is a suite of tools and code dealing with the forces on an object. Every new plane feature they build adds to it (P-51 added prop wash handling, F-15 added supersonic airflow handling etc...). The PFM takes inputs and generates output. Eg, The code that governs airflow hitting the plane and its effects is likely the same for all PFM aircraft. The airflow itself (input) might be different (ie, in level flight: straightish for jets, disturbed with added rotational elements for props) which is going to cause different output, but the fidelity is in the system dealing with the inputs and how it applies them. Same probably applies to the code dealing with engine forces. Takes in dynamic inputs like airflow, aoa, fuel flow etc... along with static input like location, mountings, engine type, blade size, prop width etc... and generates outputs to apply to the airfame. The underlying model will be the same (same fidelity), just a lot of params change between prop and jet engines, resulting in very different outputs. I'd love Yo-Yo to chime in on this, but I'd surprised if I'm far off the mark.

Better an update with not a lot in it, then how it used to be with ED going silent for months until they actually had things to say. That said, I'm pretty sure weekly updates could be dropped to every other week so they have more time to work on content.

Oh, that's an easy answer: You've basically already paid your dues in terms of hours training. Both planes have similar charactaristics, so all those hours you spent practicing on the Spitfire first helped with general control of the 109. I had the 109 first, I found it hard and put in a fair few hours until I got resonable. Got in the Spit, took off second attempt and landed (not well, but in one piece) on the first attempt and kept going since there. I've never found it hard like people claim. The other difference is the lockable tailwheel, which makes the tricky bit of staying straight much easier in the 109. Have you got the P-51D? If so, try it now, you should find it really easy, which'll probably be quite a far cry from when you first started using it.

Take off is fairly easy, quickly advance (but don't slam!) the throttle while countering the torque and you're good to go. Just give it a nose heavy trim (or stick forward) so it doesn't leap into the air too early. Taking off from 2 point attitude is my preference. You won't need 8lbs boost either, that can actually be too much until you get used to it. Landing is harder, especially due to the free castoring tail wheel, but really you just need to master flying about a foot above the runway with power on, then slowly drop the throttle and land in a 3pt attitude. Done right, you won't bounce or slide, then it is just stick back and rudder to keep tracking. Easy mode tip: Assign the brake lever to an axis. Apply about 15-20% *before* landing, then you'll have decent control with the brakes to help keep tracking true.

Or it could simply be they've decided the F-4 is the first project they're going to be open with, and simply seeing how that goes before opening up other projects? Not everything has to have a some complex, deep and dark reason behind it. Plus, as a side note: it's often much easier to show off early WIP to people because it's obviously WIP. Later on, especially if the artwork is finished, people start getting impatient as it looks done.

I suspect the OP's post is actually just a thinly veiled post about the F/A-18's launch content. No? If it is, then all I'm going to say is that you have the option to wait until later in EA to purchase when it's got more stuff in it. I will be doing just that.

Ah, I see what you mean now, I misread your other post.

For the scenario the OP proposed though, which is just an non-local backup to pull down on reinstalls etc... risk of rare non-availabilty isn't a problem. -
I didn't twig the date. American format of MM/DD/YYYY is just all kinds of wrong and should be banned from the planet.

Who cares about missiles? The F/A-18 is just a fancy bomb truck :P

That's just simply not true anymore. The newer version they added just after the company split is fine. It was only us previous owners that had trouble during the switch over. If you're a new buyer, you won't have any trouble.

To be fair, there's nothing stopping someone writing a quick js/node or even C# app to send stuff to a cloud themselves. AWS and Azure are cheap to use. Hell, you could even leverage Git (use Github or Bitbucket as a remote) and use that as a file store (versioned too). Something some chaps in the company I work for have done. All you're going to do is A-B compare on the Saved Games/DCS/Input dir and send the latest version up, then pull down when needed. Hmmmmmmmm...this sounds like a do-able idea now. -
No such thing as a sound barrier vapour cone :) You'll get a vapour cone in the right conditions when you're not supersonic.

better 3d objects / AI aircraft models are very important
Buzzles replied to Dino1981's topic in DCS Core Wish List
ED are already doing it. They started a few years back slowly updating 3d assets. They've actually done quite a few weapons so far, if you look at the "In Development" pictures: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/screenshots/572/ Every now and again they'll put them in the newsletter, or you can check Silver Dragon's thread, where he posts pictures if they've sneaked through and not been mentioned by ED. -
Thanksgiving? From a European 3rd party dev on a Russian made platform? Also, as others have said, lots and lots of news in the proper subsections + FB.
-
I think when ED finally roll out the new damage module, we'll see more granular damage being applied to systems and such. You'll still be having a bad day in the Gazelle though.

1) No-one has said it's not. Occasionally (granted, not the last couple of months), stuff will get resolved. 2) Literally non sticky 2nd thread in this section is Rudel's " Sorry :( " thread https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3250472&postcount=1 They're focused on working on another module currently.

**Announcement: DCS: F-14 OST Album by Meteor!**
Buzzles replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
@Cobra and the rest of Heatblur. Why don't you commission ED's btd to do a track or two as well? The Yak-52 one he's just done shows his synth stuff is on point and would go well with the direction you've gone with by your choice of Meteor. -
What about from the perspective of someone already on the platform who doesn't own everything though? Modules are the price of an AAA game and there's no refund mechanism and no demo for them. The module set has grown and is still growing very nicely too, but with that comes some selectivity. I used to just buy them, currently, I wait for other people to buy modules and read the first reports/first youtube videos before I pull the trigger if it is one I'm interested in. That's only going to increase if more 3rd parties come along and bring more diverse modules. You can say what you like about Steam, but the ability to trial stuff via the 2 hour playtime window is quite good when there's not a demo for it and you're on the fence.
