  1. It's relatively bug free with regards to the EB. Aviodev have not long sent the armed -CC version to ED and it is in internal testing, so we'll be getting that soon. Currently the airplanes use the SFM. Aviodev are working on the EFM. When it comes out is a mystery as we've been waiting on it for 2+ years now. What level it will be is also unknown (think they were aiming for AFM/AFM+ level). Obviously both that and the -CC will probably have bugs initially. General bug fixes have come at a reasonable pace though. If you're really interested in this specific aircraft and are happy waiting for the EFM, now is a good time to buy*. Otherwise, if you just want a trainer/light attack, ED's L-39 is much more complete as a module for only $6 more. *Sales are somewhat frequent, so if you're put off by lack of EFM and potential bugs with CC addition, you could wait and see and pick it up later in 2018 for a decent discount if it turns out well.
  2. It's the "lever for window cleaning" ("Hebel für Scheibenspülung" via Google Translate), according to the proper pilots handbook. http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/techref/manuals/manuals.htm http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/techref/manuals/k4_handbuch.pdf (direct link) Page 7, item 27. I expect a proper Deutsch speaker can give a better translation. Dunno what it's actually for though as there's no wipers on a Bf-109, so could be an outside spray or internal defog?
  3. Part 2: Weapons, lex vapours, winter Caucasus etc...
  4. Wags has already got the stream up. Check the icon bar :O F-4 and Mi-24 on there!
  5. Well, er, yes, of course it's conjecture, that's why I specifically said it was a guess... but probably not an outlier considering the very limited number of people complaining about tracks being wonky compared to other subjects. Either way, you missed my point with my post. You think it's very important. ED clearly think different, or agree but cannot put the resources to fixing it at the moment because other things are more important. The net result is the same. Personally, I'd pick this fight up again when 2.5 is out the door.
  6. I've never had this fwiw.
  7. It's important for you, but not for everyone. I don't use tracks often, so I don't think it's an important issue. I'm going to hazard a guess I'm in the majority too. Just food for thought. It would be nice for it to be fixed though.
  8. Well, DCS does have limited support for different RCS values. Check the various [airplane].lua files for the AI versions and you'll see an entry. Whether it's actually used behind the scenes is obviously a different matter. For the F117 considering its main steath tech is its reduced RCS signature...might be doable.
  9. Unless it's already nearly done, I honestly doubt we'll see it in 2018. BST are busy with the Hornet and they've shown nothing of the Mi-24. Even the F-4 bits they've shown it was clearly very early alpha.
  10. Dunno, but probably because there's been no formal announcement yet (ie, a dedicated section in the newsletter + DCS website) and it'll probably appear when they reach pre-sale. They're on Facebook if you want details.
  11. TBH, it's not a massive list when you consider about 8 of them are near some sort of release anyway (marked in orange): I'm tempted to even throw the JF-17 into orange as well judging by Deka's Facebook posts.

    I-16

Yeap, judging by the newsletter, congrats on becoming official!
  13. Wouldn't it just be easier for ED to add a terrain selector pop up when you click on the ME menu option?
  14. Just on this point: Only if you're simulating global planes. Ever heard of bush planes and bush pilots? Or flying doctors? They're civil aviation. They don't fly global. They don't often use ATC (half the strips are just clearings). And we've already got dynamic weather in DCS. All of your "requirements" are moot if you're not flying the big airliners. Throw in other types of civil such as SAR, fire fighting, etc... and the same is true. Edit: To be clear, I think the people who willingly fly virtual airliners doing A-to-B for 6 hour stints are a weird bunch, but there's more to civil that just those mad people.
  15. Press lalt-c in options to get to the correct binding. Assign away. Middlemouse click is a strange hardcoded one.
  16. Even though I think it's not a great module for DCS, I've had this on my watch list for ages so I thought I'd share: oyygByo3d_4 26:00 is interesting, a very brief mention from the pilots what it was like to fly.
  17. I bet Cobra is reading this thread and chuckling away.
  18. Suspect we won't unless it's a critical bug fix, Wags did say they're planning on pushing 2.5 out to Alpha in mid-late January.
  19. Harriers always land facing the wind if doing VTOL irl. Always.
  20. Wikipedia disagrees: That does mean the LF IX we have in DCS should definitely not have them though. They can carry bombs however, with one rack under each wing carrying a 250lb bomb.
  21. One job isn't the same as a one trick pony. The entire mission profile of the F117 is take off, fly to drop site via a preplanned route, drop its two bombs, fly home. There's no alternatives. The comparison with the F-15C + A-10C isn't great, both carry a variety of armaments and have mulitple mission profiles. A-10C does CAS, FAC and iirc COIN ops for example. Even the CE2 isn't a great counterpoint, because while obviously it's for airshows, I can guarantee you're also going to be seeing some of the MP stunt races swap to using it. Plus you can actually throw it around the skies and have fun with the FM. While I too think doing that sort of mission in an F117 in SP could be quite fun once in a while, it really doesn't have a place in MP. Tell you what though, if you really want it, why don't you make it happen and set up your own mod for DCS as a starting point?
  22. While I know mvsgas is biased against the plane as he hated working on them, I do concur with his conclusions. It's very much a one trick pony, and its one trick is pretty boring. Although I'd quite like one in DCS and definitely buy it for the novelty factor, the reality is I'd use it one or twice a year for something different for a few hours and that's it. For missions/campaigns, it's one of those aircraft that's only got legs as an AI unit.
  23. You can't currently. If you want, you can generate a mission in the ME, then go and manually change all the units to their WWII equivalent, but there's nothing automatic in the sim to do it.
  24. 1.5 does not support the new maps, only Caucasus. All aircraft modules do work in it though. 2.5 however, is planned for mid-late Jan. That will be the new base version that supports all the maps. 1.5 is being deprecated then. You'll need to upgrade your gfx card sooner rather than later.
  25. BigNewy read your post wrong. Viggen is totally usable in 1.5 / Caucasus. I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling it via the mod manager in 1.5.
