I just waited a bit under the F14 doing CAP. And tried to trick the mig29 to come closer. They did and I was able to splash them with the help of F14. Once this is done bombing area As already clear of SAM by Sead. So it was an easy bombing run Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk

Pilot's seat + curved stick extension.
lucky-hendrix replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Do you have a pic With someone sitting in this? Geometry seems way off. Your hand is supposed to rest in your lap here it looks way too high Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk -
Hi All, Unless I am mistaken, I have never seen this suggested here. But this could be a very nice addition to the Sim, It would allow to have more dynamic missions in multiplayer. It could tie in with Combined arms & the future dynamic campaign system. For those not familiar with the Idea of the Zeus mode. Zeus mode is a multiplayer game mode in Arma3, where one player is 'Zeus', the other players are either blue or red. the exact starting setup is up to the mission maker. During the mission, Zeus can spawn in any units, delete them and give them order. Basically, he can edit the mission like in the mission editor on the fly, while the other players are playing it. This allow the Zeus to create complex scenarios and add dynamism during mission, patentialy making mission realy life like. I think this could be quite easily implemented in DCS, first with basic functionality & basic GUI (click on F10 map) (just spawn/despawn units & add waypoints) but later with more advanced functions and more intuitive GUI. Even in its basic from I think it could add a lot to DCS in MP! And I think there is no major technical difficulties to make at least a basic version of this right now in DCS.

What is this thing on the left ? Something mimicking the pilot mask ?

Hi guys, I am really interested in JETSEAT. But I would like to know how is the support for the F/A-18C ? I read quickly in another thread that Engine RPM are not exported by the sim and thus can't be used by the seat ? Is there a way I can see what features are WIP, what is done and what is planned ? I guess it always takes sometimes to have support of new modules. Thanks !

Apparently from other posts I read (not 100% certain of information) this is the way it is in the real plane. If you sit back with your head against the headrest you don't see the whole HUD. you only see if you lean forward

Extreme ballooning over deck after 8/15 update?
lucky-hendrix replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Yeah a lot of things changed : -In the break I could be trimmed on speed and all dirty just before returning wings level on the 180. Now I am still too fast when coming out of the break(170-180kts) -The beak radius as changed, before a well executed break would put at 1.2nm when a beam of the boat, now it is 1.0nm -Same thing for when turning 30°AOB on speed, it use to be that the diameter of that turn was 1.2nm now it is more like 1.0nm - it seems the FCS has more trouble keeping the on-speed, I am perfectly in the center of the E-bracket when flying level, but during the turn, if I don't correct my self I easily go to the edges of the E-bracket. I don't think it was the case before. -Ball flying is much harder, it seems like throttle response is more sensitive. -
Carrier speed for Case I/III to slow ?
lucky-hendrix replied to lucky-hendrix's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Guys, Thanks for all the formulas, But you didn't read my post ... I say : Carrier speed is 11kts. Wind speed is 5kts Wind direction is roughly aligned with angled deck bearing. So wind over deck will be 'roughly' 11+5=16kts (or slightly less) You just have to look at the CASE I& CASE III instant missions in the mission editor, very simple. ---- So my question is : Why did ED setup the instant mission like that ? it seems to be too slow of a wind speed over deck for recovery . Can someone point to an actual source stating the min-max wind over deck for safe recovery ?? Should ED modify their instant action mission to match reality ? -
Hi all, I looked at the instant instant mission for Caucasus and Persian Gulf in the mission editor. And it seems that for Case I/III the wind speed is set @5kts and the carrier speed @11kts. Isn't this too slow ? I was under the impression the wind speed over deck should be around 25-30kts? thx

Flight Model Change in 8/15 Open Beta update?
lucky-hendrix replied to San Patricio's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Guys, I have been practicing Case I as usual. But I can't get it to work well anymore. And then I notied that in the Instant action Case I recovery mission, the CV is only traveling @ 11kts with 5kts wind. I thought the wind over the deck should be around 25-30kts ? did they change it ? -
Autopilot operation with rudder?
lucky-hendrix replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
It changes the the relationship between pedal angle and tail rotor pitch. So that for every altitude/pressure the pilot has to put the same amount of pedal to go into hoover. It doesn't translate well into the sim because of the way the rudder trim and heading AP works Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk -
It means, that if you are in a Hornet, you will be expected to leave the patern, to go to the tanker, when your fuel state reaches 3.5klb (3500 pounds)

If you open the ADI page on the mfd, you have a turn indicator at the bottom, when the lower rectangle is in between the top rectangle it is a 2min for 180° turn, if it is bellow the right most or left most rectangle it is a 1min for 180° turn. Very useful ! Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk

About the a10c. I use the mic switch front and back for the left and right clicks, up and down for mouse wheel, and much for zoom. You don't use the mic switch that much. And I have rebinded the mic switch to CMS switch + paddle as modifier Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk

My troubles is : how do you properly engage and stay in the 5nm circle around the boat ? There is no navaid that can help you do that ? Do you just have a table with the required AOB for a 5nm turn radius at different speeds ? Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk

I only need to hit ESC, f1, f2. I mapped everything else to horas, and a small button box I made. For all the rest, my mic switch on my throttle has become mouse left& right click + mouse wheel upb&down, so I can activate everything in the cockpit by looking at iy. Why is it So hard to land the MI 8
lucky-hendrix replied to tusler's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
The turbine can have a lot of lag when adding power. The mistake I used to make was during the descent I would put the collective very low (<1° on the pilot collectiv angle indicator) to have the fastest descent. But by doing that the engine output zero power, and when you transition from forward flights to hover, suddenly you need more power, bit the engine can't spool up fast enough. I would advice keeping the collective higher than 2 when your speed is lower than 100km/h. After you get used to it you can hear when the engine is too low. Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk
