I assume you are talking about pedal displacement. If this DCSism is true than that is a HUGE problem. I've experienced this in the Hind and have had to stop flying the helicopter with YAW AP on. Why is it like this?
-
Except in this case it literally CAN'T. This isn't Electronic Arts, or Activision, and even if it were and Eagly Dynamics could literally throw millions of dollars and hundreds of developers at the problem (which they can't) this isn't a problem that can be solved in that way. The software is too complex, and the engine is too old. But I do agree that more transparency and better communication with the customers is always a good thing. Even if the answer is one that we won't like.

Will the Eurofighter have an ir seaker like the su-27 have for example?
Lurker replied to isglas's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
If Heatblur can get reliable non-classified information that would allow them to simulate this sensor and it's employment I'm sure that they would simulate it. A lot of people seem to forget that a LOT of systems on a military aircraft are difficult if not impossible to simulate simply because there is no reliable first hand information describing their use, and their underlying systems. If Heatblur only have access to a certain number of systems that they can reliably simulate, then maybe it's not that they "don't want to" but that they simply can't. -
how to perform an aerodynamic breaking with the F1 ?
Lurker replied to cmbaviator's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
This. It's simple physics. I've never had trouble with landing tricycle planes in any sim, and DCS is no different. If you are having problems landing planes in DCS World, 99% it's on the pilot and not the flight model. -
I don't have an MSI RTX3090, I have installed Afterburner but for some reason the GUI looks very different on my PC compared to what's available in the online tutorials. The "hotkey" combinations that would allow me to adjust the entire "temperature/power" curve do not seem to be working either. Is there any way to adjust an .ini file or its like, since the graphical representation does not work for me? I'd like to try to undervolt my card a little bit but so far no cigar.

This dude is a self-indulgent hipster. Avoid his videos like the plague.

I suspected as much. Had they flown the Hind, they would have known that this helicopter was not designed to fly with the AP Channels turned off. If you want to learn the basics of helicopter flying I wouldn't suggest starting with the Hind, it's heavy and very reliant on it's AP channels to be flown properly.

Have these real helicopter pilots ever flown a real Hind before?

The C130J is instabuy from me, if for no other reason than to experience how a large, heavy 4-engined aircraft can perform in DCS World. Doing logistics in multiplayer in the Huey and the Mi8 was my go to for a long time, so this will definitely be an upgrade. As for the other projects, I really, really hope that we get an F-111 from a third party developer, but that's probably just a pipe dream at this point.

I'll just leave this here, it's an interesting tool: https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/air-altitude-pressure-d_462.html How does this compare to the air pressures we get in DCS World. I feel like there has always been a pretty large discrepancy between "REAL" Air-pressure at different altitudes\temperatures compared to what is simulated in DCS World, which is why we get somewhat strange discrepancies in missile performance across the board.

If I had a penny for every time ED have stated things that turned out to be, well to put it mildly, subjected to change, I'd be a millionaire by now

Best benchmarks for measuring DCS performance?
Lurker replied to Hoirtel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Most reviews will list which benchmarks stress single threaded operations. But I have to note, again, that synthetic benchmarks are not always indicative of real world performance. For the best, and unbiased reviews of new hardware out there, I always come back to Gamers Nexus (https://www.youtube.com/c/GamersNexus) -
Best benchmarks for measuring DCS performance?
Lurker replied to Hoirtel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
In that case I would just go with AMD. The best way to "measure" this is power draw. If Intel's newest chips need twice the power to match or better Zen4 performance, while costing the same or even if slightly cheaper, then there is no contest. Zen4 is the way to go, unless Intel pulls a rabbit from a hat somehow I suspect this will be the case with the new chips as well. This is what I would do when upgrading, I would compare Intel and AMDs chips in my price range, and just check which runs more efficiently in single threaded operation. So these are the benchmarks to look for, ones that test single threaded performance. Another thing people always forget is thermals. A chip that requires twice the power, usually needs much more efficient cooling as well. This can have significant effects on it's boost speed and efficiency if not cooled well, and especially if it's overclocked. -
Best benchmarks for measuring DCS performance?
Lurker replied to Hoirtel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I wouldn't trust any benchmarks with regards to DCS World really, apart from things that directly measure single threaded performance. In DCS this is still king. But even that varies significantly between systems, depending on a lot of factors. In essence, just go with the fastest you can afford, you probably can't go wrong there. -
Yes I've read that, but things are very much subject to change in DCS World and module development, and my question was more regarding the pricing changes and whether they will be changed before the trial actually starts. Hence, my question.
-
Care to elaborate, does this mean that the trial version will not be available during Early Access? Or rather, will the trial version become available before or after the 20% EA discount is still valid?
-
There is absolutely no reason to switch to Windows 11, it offers absolutely nothing new other than a new GUI and more bloatware and indeed in most "real-life" tests it performs exactly the same or even worse than Windows 10. Even the famed TPM i.e. the E and P core support touted by Intel to be the next best thing since sliced bread is mostly just marketing. In DCS as in most other games, you will NOT be using the E cores, and if you care about using less Watt/Mhz, then just go team red, as AMD has been killing Intel in that department for years.
-
So, any news on this? Is this coming in 2022? (Or any kind of engine update for that matter? Multithreaded support etc.)

Here is another airshow where the Tomcat clearly pulls more than 6G in a turn: Disclaimer: Conspiracy theorists, and people who suffer from the Dunning-Kruger effect, will probably not believe any video, or other evidence presented.

Hi, I would like to know what happened to the general discusison section? Since I would like to ask a question regarding the status of the graphical engine (and multicore) upgrades that were reported to be in the pipeline but have since completely disappeared from the newsletters.

Thanks for the reply @Vakarian

It's been a couple of months now since I started this thread, so just checking back in if there is any update on this? Any outstanding issues or perhaps features holding back the free trial version?

Hmmm, young bachelor men? Mostly redundant and bad programming on the part of MS Engineers, it's not really all their fault though, Windows could be streamlined and work great if there was a will to make it do that, there is not. It has to "just" work with every combination of hardware and software thrown at it, and it has to look good (read bad UI), and it has to have spyware and it has to do a million other things that have to be cobbled onto a million other things just because it's easier (and cheaper) to slap things onto their ancient kernel, than strip it down to it's bare bones and start from scratch. One of the side-effects of this bad design, is bloat and an eventual reformat of C:\ if you want to keep your sanity.

Yup, I know. But there are a lot of people who think that the Mig23 > Mig21 just because 23 > 21 As for a Me-262 vs Phantom, yeah well, that's kind of pushing it
