For those who think that the Tornado will scratch that Interdiction itch, I got news for you. It's slow. It's got short legs. It's not an F-111 which should is the be all end all interdiction bomber that can do it all, and can put huge amounts of ordnance on target. If you didn't vote F-111 (or Su-24) youre doing it wrong.

I have no idea what kind of watercooled solution you have HIOB and how you have it installed, but take it from someone who went from an aircooled solution (on the same CPU) to Watercooled that it made a noticable difference in my thermals. So much so in fact that I've been able to hit a stable 5 Ghz overclock on my CPU. Something that was completely impossible with my previous aircooled solution.

It's most definitely a bug, just not a game logic bug but a game logic design flaw. If you allow the option to NOT have the game trim your pedals, then you should also allow the option to have the microswitch logic be switchable instead of hold-able! Does Eagle Dynamics even fly their modules?

I'm sorry to say this, but you need to fix those thermals to get the most out of that system. Both your card and your CPU are outputting a LOT of heat, which needs to go somewhere, and all those fans (apart from the back-fan) aren't really doing anything. I would consider doing two things: 1. Remove the top fan (since it's not really doing anything) and remove the front plate (if that isn't possible then cut it out) so that you have airflow blowing into the front of the case, and being expelled from the top rear behind your CPU. 2. Invest into a CPU water cooler. But for that you need to have adequate space for its radiator and fan chasis, which I simply don't see in that case. This would mean getting a whole new case and would be an expensive solution, not to mention that it would mean having to rebuild the system from scratch.

w.i.p Flight Model (FM) since [21.09.2022] DCS 2.7.18.30348 Open Beta
Lurker replied to Dagobert666's topic in DCS: AH-64D
B+ is pretty good for a WIP FM. With that said IMO the FM is the single most important element of a simulation, but it's only one part of the whole package. Others might feel that systems modeling or weapons modeling or graphics or whatever trump the flight modeling, but to me the FM is where it's at with DCS World. If you get that close enough, everything else is just gravy on top. -

Attempting to fly without rudder pedals is extremely difficult, however it is not impossible. AFAIK Wags is known to use rocking paddles on his HOTAS to control rudders and he is very, very proficient with them. -
What makes the Apache the most difficult helicopter module to fly?
Lurker replied to Schmidtfire's topic in DCS: AH-64D
This exactly. Especially as the Apache was specifically designed to be able to fight from both a hover-pop-up position and while flying forward. (Unlike the Hind for example) -
Will the Eurofighter have an ir seaker like the su-27 have for example?
Lurker replied to isglas's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
I'm sorry but that's not how things work in DCS World, as it goes against everything that Heatblur have stated in the past about their own modules. -
So what do you think the AI is doing wrong? Are they firing their missiles at you from further range? If not, they should be exploiting the Phoenix reach. However this is not something that is in the purview of Heatblur, and should be reported to the Eagle Dynamics AI bug section forum.

Yes, you would. The 1070 really can't push a 4k picture worth of pixels worth a damn. I would recommend you stay with FHD (or 1980 x 1080 resolution) monitors. The question is whether you are going to be using the monitor for any other gaming? I for one prefer an IPS panel with great colors, over a high refresh rate monitor, but I rarely play shooters, and when I do i use vsync to prevent screen-tearing. Other people prefer low latency, high refresh rate monitors, but those have a tendency for displaying really bland washed out colors.

Okay, I have to say that this is pretty lame. I have now tried the Hind after a long time, and I have to say that I like the changes it flies much more like you would expect it to, however this one little thing is annoying. Pushing (and holding) button on my joystick to simulate something that is done with feet feels very strange! @NineLine is there any way that you can get back to the developers with our feedback and ask for this to be made an option in the settings that we can just toggle? Thank you.

Is there a setting that allows microswitches to be always on without the use of 3rd party software?
-
If Nvidia is pricing it's laughable line-up the way they are, then they probably have it on good authority that AMDs offerings this time around will not exactly be stellar either.
-
Good, honest review. Also KUDOS for taking the time to mention how control peripherals have a huge impact on how the FM is tuned and made. This is something that a lot of us sim enthusiasts are definitely not taking into consideration when posting on here.

From the patch notes: Added: Addition of mechanism 100% margin control of autopilot in SAS YAW channel This might be the biggest and best change for the Hind since it came out, not sure exactly what it is, but it's time to take the Hind out of the hangar and do some testing

People please don't buy into the hype. Not just yet. The "double" or "tripple" performance in the marketing blurbs is probably with DLSS 3.0 enabled, there is no way that these video cards are so much faster than the previous generation in regular rendering. Don't drink the Kool Aid.

Are there any tests, real world Phoenix tests down low? As in below 30,000 feet or lower? For years I have had suspicions that most if not all missiles in DCS World are way too draggy at low to medium altitudes. If this were true (not saying that it is, it's just a feeling based on years of flying in DCS World) wouldn't this be the reason for the large discrepancy that most people are experiencing with the Phoenix, especially since this would be exacerbated by it's "girth" compared to longer and thinner missiles in DCS world?

The Supercarrier & VR; is it possible to achieve 90fps?
Lurker replied to obious's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
The simple answer is no. Performance in DCS World is something of a controversial subject. For the most part you have people clamoring for increased visual fidelity, they want to see every single rivet on every single landing gear wheel-well, and Eagle Dynamics seems to oblige them more often than not. Every single module that was released for the past couple of years or so has been more demanding than the previous one. The complexity of the missions and scripts has gone up, AI has been revamped, etc. etc. etc. There are improvements in the pipeline, people are waiting for multicore and Vulcan, but they are not going to be the magic bullet that fixes everything if and when they come. Throwing more money at the problem and getting better hardware only takes you so far, I've got a pretty decent system and I've kind of given up chasing frames, since with every patch and update the performance is all over the place. So the complex answer is still.....no. Don't chase your frames, or you will start doing what I've been doing and that is, flying in DCS world less and less. -
Well it looks like Looks like the Tornado is indeed in the works, but thankfully its from another third party, which still means the the F-111 is on the table for HB
