  1. I don't know about the M2000 in particular, but in general; transmit mode = range only, receive mode = bearing only and T/R = both. As explained in the Mudspike article, TACAN is basically a military VOR+DME. A DME requires bidirectional communication between the interrogator (aircraft) and transponder (ground station), while VOR receivers just receive the FM+AM VOR signals and compares the phase between the demodulated carrier and sideband in order to get the bearing to the station. For the simple A/A mode (with just ranging) one aircraft acts a DME interrogator, while the other one acts as the transponder.
  2. Awesome work! This is my new favorite texture mod. Thanks a lot :)
  3. People usually don't click links or read the thing that's being linked to, so here's a pic:
  4. Why can't you have the tail wheel locked when taxiing? I keep it kocked all the time, except when doing sharp (90°) turns.
  5. There's no pleasing some folks. If Normandy was only sold as a complete package, people would be complaining about the price and asking for the option of buying it without the period AI.
  6. Check out the Bugs & problems section. Similar problems have already been reported. https://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=529
  7. Why are you trying to fly a low altitude attack/strike aircraft at 60.000ft? Just curious...
  8. That's the only fault I've seen so far. Can't re-arm the vigg. Haven't tested that with any other planes yet. Edit: re-arming the F86 works.
  9. [Note: I cut out some of the irrelevant parts of the following quote] I'm not seeing any of the problems described here. The Viggen and all other aircraft I tested are working as expected. I just set up a simple mission at North Vegas, and tested ramp start, parking (hot) and runway. All mods disabled. Fuel set at 100% in the ME. Ramp start: - The gear was down on mission start. - Everything started up as expected. - ~100% fuel according to the gauge - Takeoff was normal. Radar works when airborne. Parking (hot): - Gear down - Fuel: 100% - Radar works Runway: - As above. No problems. Air start (multiplayer, AO server): - Everything works as expected. I did all the same tests with the Bf109, and the fuel load was 100% in all cases. I also tested the Spitfire in MP (AO server) with no fuel-related problems.
  10. IIRC, it just omits the first digit in the longitude, so 115° = 15° etc. Otherwise it should be identical to the way we use it in the Caucasus.
  11. I'm considering buying a 500GB Samsung 960 EVO M.2 drive for DCS. Does anyone have any experience with this one?
  12. Looks great! Keep up the good work.
  13. Your youtube link is broken.
  14. F-100, F-105, F-4, Mirage IIIC. So in DCS it'll have to be Mig vs. Mig or Mig vs. MIIIC (depending on which module is released first).
  15. That's true. The Danes are famous for having invented the trick of pissing their pants to keep warm :P
  16. Here's a real-world example of FLIR on the HUD of a F-15E: I assume that some kind of color filter will be used for the correct green monochromatic look in the final version of the Harrier. Picture source: http://www.f-15e.info/technology/avionics/lantirn_nav/lantirn_nav.htm
  17. Why would you want an analog input for a function that has two discrete states (on/off, up/down etc.)? Unless you're flying a Grumman Wildcat (or a B-17 with the emergency hand pump engaged) it makes no sense to have it on an axis.
  18. I haven't seen this in 1.5.6 @release, but I had the same problem with the first 1.5.6 open beta, and that seemed to be mod related. Try removing all mods, running a repair, and re-apply mods.
  19. Several files (in the bin, comm, shapes, textures and liveries folders) were changed by the update. I haven't checked in-game yet.
  20. Awesome! Keep up the good work!
  21. IFR = I Follow Roads
  22. As the two previous posters have noted, shot placement is the key issue here. It's comparable to hunting big game; a small caliber lung/heart shot can be (and usually is) more effective than a large caliber gut shot.
  23. To elaborate a bit: Normal ILS: you have the localizer in the end of the runway, and the glide path approximately 300m from the runway threshold, offset ~100 from the runway centerline. TILS: everything is located at a single site, roughly equivalent to where a normal GP would be placed. I've never seen one in person, but I assume it's all mounted on a Scania truck or equivalent for rapid deployment. Side note: there are also some regular ILS sites with offset localizers. Sumburgh on Shetland is a good example, where the localizer for RWY09 is located next to the GP antenna for RWY27. It's the only place I've seen a LOC and GP (and maybe a DME if memory serves me right) in the same equipment shelter. And you also have IGS systems like the infamous checkerboard approach to Kai Tak, or the really strange one in Innsbruck.
  24. The TILS localizer is offset from the runway centerline, unlike most normal ILS systems.
