  1. You can alter the default view position but tbh I just move the seat adjust switch every time I start up
  2. Given that any TGP doesn't work through saturated atmospheric conditions (principally rain, but I have also heard there can be difficulties with fog/low cloud) are you really suggesting that USAAF/USN/USMC/RAF etc tactics against a peer level adversary (IE: None/degraded GPS) is...go home? Not every post-cold war scenario will be slinging the odd JDAM/Paveway in a CAS situation in the dry air of the desert with complete air dominance...
  3. Change of HUD viewpoint came with the release of the updated A10C cockpit Whilst not a perfect solution - I simply lower my seat position down!
  4. Yes I also think that the A/G radar will end up not being used that much in the perfect weather/perfect visability scenarios that populate DCS Servers... In the real world it rains (alot)
  5. Is ED essentially saying - Don't purchase Campaign DLCs unless you intend to play them immediately...don't purchase campaign DLCs and expect them to have any long-term replayability... If it is...fine! It would be OK if it stated that overtly... I understand what your saying BUT -the DLC was purchased VERY recently - at that point there was no disclaimer - "only valid for a couple of months" and whilst a now defunct 3rd party can't be expected to support it ad infinitum - does ED have any obligation to continue supporting it (I believe after the Hawk debacle - all rights on the code of DCS add-ons revert to ED if the 3rd party dev closes) - or perhaps more pertinantly why oh why oh why does every single update insist on breaking the triggers/pathfinding on all the older missions (I mean I understand when the 2.5 terrain was released yes - it altered the maps...but smaller updates?) Will future updates eliminate my other currently purchased DLC?
  6. I purchased the campaign at the end of 2019...it seems extremely poor form (given it is/was) official DLC that its already broken/unusable by the begining of March 2020 - less than 3 months later! How long will other modules I have purchased from ED be available for use? 3 months/year/3 years? Will Flyable modules be broken? Terrains? Or is it just DLC campaigns
  7. I suspect you're right on the release schedule... Though it does throw into sharp focus the disconnect between Ed/3rd party development (in terms of modules/AI assets/terrains) and usage in a game/sim context. Channel Map - no Battle of Britain modules/AI assets doesn't add anything additional compared to Normandy Map for Normandy Scenarios Marianas - another training area like NTTR with no conceivable cold war/modern conflict scenarios (Currently no modules/AI assets for WW2 scenarios) Syria - many modules/AI assets usable on this map, many contempary and/or speculative scenarios for conflict
  8. Its Single Player>>Multi-Player (IE: Single Player is many times larger than single player)
  9. I've heard this said before...and makes no sense to me... I'm not a noob with AAR day or night (i've got literally hundreds under my belt and can almost without fail join up off the port wing, top off with a single connect and then shift to the starboard wing whilst waiting for wingmen... BUT I find it a much, much more challenging and dynamic process with Wake turbulence on...particularly trimming for stable, level flight (which makes it a more relaxing experience) which requires constant trim changes as you move from pre-contact to contact That and the cross-under to pre-contact being a much "larger" maneuver to avoid wake turbulence all combine to ramp up the difficulty level...
  10. I thought there already WAS an "Easy" AAR mode... Wake Turbulance off!
  11. Certainly from an Operation Deliberate Force point of view...its because Western European weather is frequently (usually) dogsh*t Not all operations take place in Nevada syle (DCS multiplayer style) perfect visibility/No clouds situations...
  12. I agree wholeheartedly...BUT I'm not necessarily talking about the new lighting and wholesale issues addressed in 2.5.6 - BUT since December 2019, 3rd party developers have released multiple bug-fixes to campaigns...and there are multiple other examples of small discrete bug-fixes that don't interact with the core code Is there a particular reason they haven't been pushed out to what is ostensibly the "core" community (Stable Version) for such a long period of time? (A period unprecedented since the release of 2.5)
  13. Dec 2019 to Mar (possibly April) 2020 3 (possibly four) months - has there ever been such a long gap between updates to the stable version? (Clue - No) https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/stable/2.5.5.41371/
  14. Well, a new plane announced that i'm genuinely excited about... Its all been pretty underwhelming lately either Planes finished & done better in other sims, two-seaters nobody but a tiny minority can use or obscure Lightweight fighters we have to love because of lack of Redfor planes This is a genuinely iconic, exciting release - Carrier ops, attack missions without JDAM/JSOW/Maverick crutches...I can't wait!
  15. There is ZERO need for ED to offer out an untested (possibly buggy) early release candidate to a portion of the community to test and report on... They already do...its called open beta. All that's needed is for the community as a whole to treat it as such and run the Stable Version (especially for multi-player) as a general rule.
  16. How many DCS owners (as opposed to DCS vocal forum posters) REALLY want another multi-crew aircraft...even the Apache (and thats speaking as someone that loved Janes Longbow) Multi-crew AI is very far, far from ideal (and I would imagine even more difficult to implement in an A2G/CAS environment than in A2A) and how many people can regularly hook up at the same time, with a competent, same language speaking, DCS player willing to take on the "mirror-image" role in your chosen multi-crew plane... That's got to be a tiny fraction, of a tiny fraction of the small minority of DCS owners who actuallyplay in multi-player... Wouldn't DCS be better off concentrating on single-seat planes...there's plenty out there to do..
  17. I'm certain that it will see rapid "growth" as its from such a (currently) tiny user base
  18. I found this video helpful when i was learning to use the CDU
  19. Even amongst specific PC gamers (Steam users as surveyed) isn't it currently less than 1% ? https://www.statista.com/statistics/265018/proportion-of-directx-versions-on-the-platform-steam/
  20. Just look at the claimed Phoenix kills during the Iran-Iraq war
  21. I'd love to see more AI heavies (and indeed more AI plane full stop) Not convinced by DCS handling of multi-crew (even Heatblurs valiant attempt with Jester in the F14 is sub-par) so not excited by the thought of any multi-crew planes... Not withstanding the tiny size of DCS maps makes missions far beyond problematic...unless you REALLY want Airstart/F10 Menu to complete Missions... Not into commercial flight sims...but can't the likes of X-plane/the forthcoming MS Flight Sim do a solid job of simulating "heavies" - as (with a few exceptions) their mission profiles are essentially flight with very little combat...
  22. The Charlie and the Echo F15 are as as different from each other as to be two completely different aircraft...not withstanding the fact one is a bomber the other is a fighter... The current Charlie is an FC3 plane...which to many in the community means it might as well not exist...as its systems modelling and capabilities differ so significantly from the aircraft... As the Echo is being developed bya 3rd party - ED releasing the Charlie at some point is a no brainer...any "teen series" fighter will sell well...it would be a day one purchase for many...
  23. I find that the FE often won't notice your connection unless he's started with the "that's it just a little bit closer" (or similar) dialogue as you approach...getting the "well done" dialogue triggered without hearing his pre-amble is a bit hit & miss... Failing that...staying connected for longer eventually seems to trigger the "well done" dialogue - though (especially in the practice mission where you need 6 sips/less so in the campaign where you need 3 sips) that runs the risk of topping up before you've done the require number of reconnects...
  24. He I remember buying my first ever graphics card to run that...a Voodoo 3 16Mb Card...happy days!
  25. Super Etendard - put it alongside the F8 Crusader (when it arrives) and you have an Air Wing for a Clemenceau/Foch Carrier - would go on RAZBAMs South Atlantic Map and would slot right into a Persian Gulf 1980s Campaign environment too! Radar, Exocets, Carrier Ops...whats not to like!
