  1. Funny, the link you posted is to this thread. Anyhow, when I turn flat shadows off, it totally eliminates tree shadows - not making the shadows high quality but totally eliminating them. I turn flat shadows on, and the tree shadows show again on the terrain. Is it suppose to do that or is this a bug. Again, I just assumed flat shadows ON meant the game engine will project shadows on the terrain. Which is what it's doing now. Thanks and good day, DrDetroit
  2. When I shut off flat shadows, I loose tree shadows completely. Turn it on and I get them back again. So I figured flat shadows allowed shadows projected on flat terrain.
  3. Same with the Huey. I noticed during a UN mission where I drop supplies off the soldiers actually walk up to the Huey and open the doors to get the supplies, then they walk back to their tents. When dropping off the reporter at Senaki, a soldier walks up the the helo and then walks back to their private/commercial jet. Nice touch for sure Good day! DrDetroit
  4. Ok, thanks. Been reported - many times over. Good day! DrDetroit
  5. No AC Shadows or Spotlight Visible On Terrain Didn't see this posted, if it was, my bad! I noticed when flying the Huey last night that there are no AC shadows showing on terrain, but the shadows do reflect from buildings and other objects, just not the terrain. I noticed that the spotlight also does not show on most of the terrain, but does reflect on certain terrain tiles, and all the buildings. Not a big deal, but something that'd be nice to have fixed. Thanks and good day! DrDetroit
  6. I think there are a few training missions in the user files section on the main page at digitalcombatsimulator.com > downloads > user files. I generally setup static objects at the target range just north of Batumi and practice what I need. Just go to mission editor and play in there a bit to figure it out. Also alot of youtube tutorials. BunnyYap has some nice detailed tutorial on radios, nav, and the CDU (I think that's his user name - maybe bunnyap)...loads of tutorials to help you.
  7. When I first started out I setup a small mission with static targets at the range. Then I could practice takeoff, nav (flying wp), armament, ILS/NDA and landing, all in one little mission. If I felt really good, I'd dial in another airfield to see if I could navigate to it...get the ILS, and nav settings as well as radios working for a proper landing. Then after awhile I started learning how to setup and use SPI, then the CDU and other little goodies (CDU is a pretty neat little piece of equipment - lots of functionality)...it took awhile to become proficient. Just take it piece by piece, and learn in increments. Become proficient in one thing before moving onto the next. Good luck! DrDetroit
  8. Don't forget Track IR. IMO this is a must have, along with the HOTAS...definite game changer as far as immersion goes. No more POV hat to slew around your views. I have a TM Warthog, and glad I went with it. The best HOTAS on the market, bar none. Before my TM purchse, was using the X-45 that I bought like 15-years ago or more...and it still works just fine. Good luck! DrDetroit
  9. Here is an in-cockpit vid of the full startup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-OfmHbU-Xg Looks like we have the same switchology at least. EDIT: The guy with the camera does a great job getting it all into the frame. Good day! DrDetroit
  10. Nope, restarting doesn't help.
  11. Hi Guys, I haven't seen one car on the road in 1.5. I have the mission settings showing high density civi traffic, same with the option menu, but no joy. Anybody else experiencing this or am I just missing a new setting somewhere? Thanks and good day! DrDetroit
  12. I noticed some flickering as well, running ultra shadows.
  13. Looks great, runs very smooth...and flying when the sun is coming down over the water with the reflections, you'd think it is the real deal. Thanks ED! Great job - it would seem all expectations are met. Good day! DrDetroit
  14. Yes, I noticed the report on a Steam page for the DCS beta. I had the "process can't be created" issue.
  15. You have to use the DCS.exe located in your Steam folder - or the desktop shortcut. Should work with that procedure. The Steam "Play" button is pork for the time being. Good luck! DrDetroit
  16. I'm getting 300kb...sometimes 500kb. I'm sure their servers are struggling with the loads at the moment.
  17. Thanks man, much appreciated!
  18. Hi Guys, Possible to import modules purchased via Steam or I have to purchase again via Module Manager? I have A10C and the Huey that aren't showing up in the Mod Manager. Sorry if asked already, too many pages to sort through right now. Thanks! DrDetroit
  19. Never noticed that before either, that I can recall. I had seen a AI pilot with the same wheel damage last night, but he taxied like he had wheels/tires. Cool detail none the less. Good news: at least you still have your canopy intact! Good day, DrDetroit
  20. I use to have that issue, until I unchecked the "sync controls" option (something to that effect). Doesn't happen any longer because now the controls are neutral until I move them. Good luck! DrDetroit
  21. I can't get the fire suppressant to drop in the right spot either and no pointers at all, except the distance meter that pops up. Frustration heaven! It's so hard to get the Huey in the right spot to drop the fire retardant...no joy after a dozen attempts so far...and I have to do these drops 4 times I assume to complete the mission. I'll be at it for a year at this point...all good though, love the challenge! Good day, DrDetroit
  22. I've been working on this mission for the last 3-days, and can't even keep up with the guy yet. I feel your frustration! DrDetroit
  23. Complete Troop Transport Script (CTTS). It allows you to set troops for transport, so they get in and out of your chopper and your AIs chopper - also useful for setting spawn points for friendly and enemy AI, and setting dynamic pickup zone and drop zones. You could probably script a moderately dynamic campaign with this. Anyhow, it's a very awesome script, and I can now probably complete the Crazy Horse campaign, once I add the script to it...if that's possible w/out breaking it. I'm going to try! Currently you can't finish the first mission because the troop simply will not get in your chopper. Good day! DrDetroit
  24. I thought the training missions were very well done. It did get me clued into startup and basic procedures. Sometime the triggers don't function, but if you do as you're told by the instructor, shouldn't be a problem. From there, I started watching a lot of tutorials to fine tune weapon procedures, radios, navigation, ect. I would put these lessons to use with a few simple missions I created so I can work on running in (3/9) and deploying the armament. It's a challenge to learn the systems, more so to learn how to employ them properly with great effect. Good luck! DrDetroit
  25. Hi guys, I found this script and messed with the training mission...pretty cool!! I just don't understand how to get it into one of my missions. Do I set an advanced action to the infantry, like embark at a waypoint, then hit the pulldown to select "script", then select the CTTS as the script? If that is the case, is the script always active after that action or do I have to set another adv action to use the script so troops disembark? If that's not the way to activate the script in a self-made mission, please clarify. I've read through several of the pages in this thread and I don't see anything that explains how to install this script. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance! DrDetroit EDIT: I think I figured it out...If anybody else has issues, I used this: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3977343/Possibly_stupid_question.__Scr
