Just a bit!

Don't worry. I did not have a gaming pc for over a year and DCS seems to have gotten a lot better in my absence. I think I spent around $600 on my pc. I was on a strict, tight budget. It does mean I've had to sacrifice a few treats and outings while I claw back the money I spent on it. But I5, 16gb ram, ssd, gtx 770. Does the job. Shadows kill my video card, but with everything else to high the game runs 60 to 120fps in mp. My last pc I was even tighter on an brought one good part each month. The pc was still playing dcs fine till the motherboard imploded and I decided it was time to upgrade anyway.

Sorry if this is a bit long winded. Background I pull out the training missions for the A10c, learn to start it, understand the mfds, countermeasures, the gun modes, that little button under the throttle that you have to switch before the engines decide to work. I watch some youtube videos and they're rubbish using all the lingo of china and back street without telling you the keys. I skip unguided rockets, bombs litening, landing, nav, precision guided munitions to get to the mavs. I get into this training mission, work out what the china switch does at last and how to slew the mavs on to the target (the yt vids showed me the fire and forget and shake when locked on features). The training mission gets stuck after it askes me to do something and I have no idea what it's on about. I push the china switch forward, lock one mav, fire, lock another, fire, lock the third and fire destroying all the targets and then finish the remaining playing with the gun and the different modes. The problem The Air-to-air training mission comes next with the TGP pod and I follow the instructions. Press the tgp button Press the aa button Hold k to make it soi Press the , ; / buttons and.... NOTHING. I look at the pod and it's shaking like it's cold, but won't move. I try pushing the china hat button forward by pressing V and still nothing. I then start pressing tgp pages before re-starting and following to the letter. Still it shakes like it's locked by something. So I select the AA weapon, let the weapon lock and press Left ctrl + UP (another step in the training) and the TGP moves to the target. I release the weapon and destroy the target. I come to the forums because I have no idea what I'm doing wrong since I've used these , ; / buttons on the mav page to slew around. If you guys can think of anything let me know. I'll keep fiddling for a bit, but the training is usually pretty good. Thanks. SOLVED This seems to be a bug with the tutorial as I tried this in the map editor with the pod loaded and I was able to slew pod. I still don't really understand how to use it properly, but at least I can now get it to move with the HUD. I also worked out that I have to have the aa missile reticle over the target for it to lock.

I have all three helicopters currently in the sim, huey, hip and bs. It's actually really fun to fly despite its size it's far more agile than you'd imagine. It's the got the mini guns, bombs, grenade launchers and loads of rockets. The thing that put me off was the startup. It looked so hard, but after a couple of tries you realize it's actually fairly quick. Not as quick as the huey as you've got to get two engines started, but not that bad. It feels really similar to the black shark in start procedure, the way you have to get two engines going. You'll probably have to watch a youtube video or do the training to work out how to get the guns to fire, but again it's fairly simple after a week or so. Imo it is about the most ugly thing to look at, but it's like that ugly girl in school that you hated, but then you bumped into her, started chatting and looked beyond her looks into her soul and you found the most beautiful person that became more attractive on the outside. Your friends would comment on her looks and ask you what you were doing with her, but you knew. You knew the person that was trapped in that skin. The hip may be ugly, but it's great fun to be around.

Battle Of Britain Hall closing (Stuka pics request)

Ah, this is what I was trying to work out. -
Any talks on updating the Black Shark?
BFBunny replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
ah, typo, i meant the mi8 and the hind was used in the soviet afghan war, but thanks as I did not know much when the ka-50 was used. -
Write down your age and add 10 - 15 years to it or go play falcon bms

I would never have gone online before, those black specs of dust, often even with labels on I'd have a hard time seeing the dot that label was tracking. I notice now that you can be tracking something for it to go to ground level and while you're adjusting your aircraft for a split second the thing has vanished There is an option in the game under. Options, gameplay, model enlargement and this will help you out in single player. I find medium and large OK. I expect it's partly my bad pc as the low 8xaa produces jaggies that things can blend into. I expect if you can run this game max at 1080 or max at 1140 it's probably a bit easier.

Can't Land P-51 ON rwy IN 2.0.0.49135.73

Nope, even managed to save it when I touched down on the grass only to be greeted by a radar van. -

I was really disappointing by the textures when I first got the module especially since it's price is in line with the other older modules like the a10 and the mustang that both have really nice pits. The a10 is older and you'd not notice it much. I tend to try and use the pit as much as possible so staring at muddy low rez textures kinda rubbishes the experience of flying it. It's a bit like the stock ground that you know it's there, but you try not to look at too hard. I used the ricardo blue pit and maybe 'sexy' is the wrong word, but it looks a lot better than before. An official or even 3rd party merged pit skin into the retail release would really make this module pop again especially for new buyers if it was your first purchase it's not really in line with the rest of the quality. And just like everyone I would love, x,y or z helo. Off topic on the hind. It actually fits because we can do cool escort missions or something using the ka and the hind as they were both used in the russian invasion of Afghanistan -
I almost asked this the other day, it's why my f-86 has not been used as much as it should. I've seen enough people on various servers with one, the other or both modules so I think there would be enough people. For me, I'm interested in a mix of ground and pvp. I'm happy plinking ground targets as getting into the mix.

Oh, I thought this was the way of it. My mistake. I saw someone chatting in game and I assumed one did not have the aircraft. That would have been awesome. I'll edit my post in a bit.

Ah, young skywalker. I was once like you. I only got fc3 because of the mig 29 and probably went straight to the forums to demand it become its own plane because 'how dare they'. FC3 is probably the best intro intro DCS. I even wanted to somehow sell the A10a for a while. That was till I started doing carrier takeoffs in the su33 and having loads of fun in the hog. THAT GUN A year later I saw a real f-15 and apart from being HuGE! in real life it is a really fun craft in the game. I then went to the forums and demanded it be its own module - he's lying, but you get the idea. I've been in the a10a ground pounding alongside a10cs ...but it took a few years to get to the a10. Only after flying it for a few hours did I realize that I'd ignored one of the best planes in the game. Have fun whatever you fly

I'd go for the saber because it's a corean war vet - In DCS you can play with un-guided rockets, bombs and heat seeking missiles plu the 6 machine guns. It's idiot proof simple too. I mean - ask for ground power, switch one switch to ground power (it's right above the starter switch), hold the starter for a couple of seconds, press home once to get the fuel mix going, few more seconds, press home again for idle throttle. Switch 'that' switch to battery, ask tower to turn ground power off. Taxi is nose wheel steering which is a key, I think the default is S which you have to hold along with your usual rudder input to get around the runway. It can take about less than 15 seconds to be operational. Guns and sight you can turn on either taxi or on the way to target It's a little limited online because of the lack of pvp between mig 15s though which is a shame and you might find the lack of complexity boring for you in a game environment. It's a nice pit and there is a user mod to make the pit less fresh if you want a more worn look. I don't own the the l39, but it has dual seat and I think can mount a couple of missiles. It's more of a training / aerobatic plane ideal for the aerobatics server than often sees fantastic formation flying. The l39 does look cooler, but when you should be in the pit managing your aircraft rather than staring at your pretty butt. I think you'll enjoy either, but if you get the saber you might end up getting the mig 15 too or trying to decide which you'd rather get. Get all 3!

I've not notice any stuttering using an nvidia gtx 760 oc 2gb card with cheap ddr3 kingston 16gb basic ram and an i-5 (the k one - 4690k 3.5ghz with turbo to 4ghz). I do have an SSD. Samsung evo 8-whatever 250gb. I think this is a pretty average rig for people on a budget and just meets the min requirements. (I wonder what he built his budget pc for) I was interested so I did some small tests just for you guys as I'd never thought about it. DCS 1.5 CPU use is around 30 - 50% with some spikes not affecting fps of 70% fps 70 - 130 SSD got hit with 100% use at times I think I have a lot of settings on high. I had 14 chrome tabs (as I loaded dcs just for this reply) with one playing a youtube video. RAM is 7GB total use in sp - dcs using around 3gb RAM is 12.5GB total use in mp - dcs using 8.6GB (night) RAM is 13.7GB total using in mp - dcs using 9.5 - 10GB (day) 1920x1080 rez, no action happening, outside view / flyby from other players. No ram change when action happens. I was alt tabbing full screen with the action happening in the background and looking at windows task manager.

How come there is nothing of this on the net? Bit odd. Only thing I could find was their landscaping project. I would have thought this would be newsworthy. -

This thread is so far off topic you'd need a telescope to find out where it began.

I think the majority of people that don't fly on the forums would probably like it like it is. Like me being a noob I'm bad at spotting so need a little help. I never played online before because it was pointless as I could never find the enemy. Not every player is an ace the 109 and if there were more novices encouraged by servers like this with the big impostors. I'd like to see a screenshot in 1920x1080 of how the different sizes look and make a poll

It's good, but it's the carrot that draws players in. In to one of the best sims available in our time.

I just use the rudder and the collective. The rudder helps and then lower the collective going into a turn to stop it rising and power out of the turn. You can scoot around the airfield with some pretty fun maneuvers. I find I often need to counter the rudder in the opposite direction once it's going around to stop it being too violent. A bit like sliding a car around a corner. It went from being my most hated module to just a whole bunch of fun flying and then turn on all the auto hover, etc when you want to get serious with the weapons. You can fly it a bit like the huey if you get used to it and that's how I fly the huey. It's a bit easier in the shark because you can watch your height, etc on the digital display.

Windows 10 64bit. The os boots in 6 seconds to desktop. More like turning on my phone than a pc. Looks nice on a 32 inch screen too. Much better than 8.1 The sfx of the desktop don't seem to affect fps either.

su-27 has a pfm. Su 33 is being worked on.

You know what this sim is missing... ...aliens. Everyone knows simulated space ships are the way to go. :noexpression:
