Understandable and expected. I hope it pushes the edges of what's possible personally...This is definitely not a hobby where you can expect to keep a rig longer than a couple of years without upgrading:D

It's a testament to how good they are doing with the program...identified the issue and a very short temporary grounding while they inspect. Most of them are already back in the air and none where supposed to be grounded longer than 48hrs. Actually it's pretty amazing they've only had one crash in what? 13 years of operations?

Great interview! Been listening to the Podcast since it was started and good to see DCS talked about as well! Very excited about some of the new stuff Wags mentioned...Syria is the map I most look forward too!

Awesome thank you! Exactly what I wanted to see! I'll definitely be upgrading to the 2080Ti. That's well worth the investment to get that large a performance bump IMO

New build hardware recommendations?
Greekbull replied to JG-1_Vogel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There is no doubt Intel is the way to go. ATM I don't think there will really be a difference in DCS between the 8700K, 9700K and the 9900K. When we get Vulkan API we will likely see the benefit though. At that point I'll jump to 9900K or if it's after 2019 I guess I'll be upgrading even more lol. I would also echo the sentiment that 32GB of RAM should be the recommended minimum if you want to play multiplayer no doubt. I went 64GB and don't regret it at all... -
I would love to see a head to head with the 1080Ti and the 2080Ti. From what I've heard is that the 1080Ti may still perform a bit better in DCS for now because the drivers aren't optomized for the antiquated DX we run in DCS(obviously Vulkan API will change all of that)...Wonder if that holds out in testing and hopefully not soon because I have every intention of buying the 2080Ti...and the 9900K lol:D

Thanks for the efforts...excited to try this later!

Warthog afterburner detent from Shapeways arrived
Greekbull replied to sobe's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Doing this is much better than filing the original detent. Works perfectly and you still get to keep your original detent with no risk of filing too much off. Best upgrade I've ever bought for the money... Most of our pilots in CSG use this detent. -
Very Excited to follow this project!

Yeah wish I had the knowledge to fix it. Any pointers on how to map controls with the profile? Would love to get it fixed. Love this profile:D -
Capt Zeen F/A-18C Beta Helios Profile ! ! !

It looks like the update broke some of this helios profile. The rwr no longer turns on for me in helios. I also noticed the radar switch on the right console isn't functioning. -

Improved stability and dedicated server - Discussion
Greekbull replied to NineLine's topic in Multiplayer
This is something that needs to be addressed. We run a large group in CSG-1. And honestly in our group cost is no object at this point. We have the $ and resources. Just purchased a new server(i7 8700k, 32GB of 3600 DDR4 RAM, M.2 SSD for everything, very fast dedicated connection etc). We still run into serious problems when we have 40+ members online. If there are standards or settings that need to be met let us know and we'll do it! -
Really hope it's the A-6E...would be the perfect next step for the Multicrew, Grumman, Carrier Born etc...

TM Warthog Throttle Curve for the Hornet
Greekbull replied to Greekbull's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Well unless you've been in the jet I'll take your feedback with a grain of salt...this profile was created curve was created with one of the real Hornet pilots in our group. He seems to think this responds quite well. And while your curve might be linear the jet response in the sim is not. So this helps to make it fly like the jet should respond;) -
TM Warthog Throttle Curve for the Hornet
Greekbull replied to Greekbull's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Hmmm that's odd not sure why it would behave like the for you may just be a difference in flying style... And what do you mean by look at the throttle? You should be going back and forth pretty rapidly when flying in the prattern. That's normal IRL is that's what your meaning... -
TM Warthog Throttle Curve for the Hornet
Greekbull replied to Greekbull's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
No problem hope it helps a few people. With other curves I was trying I was getting too little power in the middle of the travel and then too much when I came up on the power trying not to settle. Created a bit of a tendency to sail and miss the wires or hit the 4 wire more than I wanted. With this you get a bit more power in the middle of the range and it makes flying the ball to a 3 wire much easier IMO. -

Sorry here is the correct link: https://www.shapeways.com/product/3MJPNE2SV/warthog-throttle-part-afterburner-detent?productConfiguration=63799442&etId=186650009&utm_source=automated-contact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=order-shipped&utm_content=2 I'll correct the OP -
After quite a bit of trial and error and getting some feedback from a real Hornet pilot in our group here is what I run for the TM Warthog. 0-6-19-25-35-43-57-67-80-90-100 0 Deadzone, 100 saturation for both, 0 Curvature, and only User Curve checked... This works pretty great with the current build of the Hornet I also highly recommend this part!!!:https://www.shapeways.com/product/3MJPNE2SV/warthog-throttle-part-afterburner-detent?productConfiguration=63799442&etId=186650009&utm_source=automated-contact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=order-shipped&utm_content=2 Most of our guys are using it and it is awesome. Allows you to push through to go into AB and not lift...if your looking for a good curve for the Warthog give this one a try and let me know how it treats you;)
-
Has it ever been stated how long the throttle travel will be? Since we have no videos or pictures of the throttle in both the idle and full ab positions it's really hard to tell..That's really the only thing I have hesitation on. I'm ready to order and replace my Warthog if the travel is long enough...

Great thanks I'll take a look in there. Your tape file was a huge help! I had tried to get that effect to look good and it just wasn't anywhere near where I wanted it to be.

Hornet Helmet Visor File Could someone direct me to the location and name of the visor file for the Hornet? Wanted to experiment with some coloring to see if I can get this effect: Working on getting our pilot model as nice as possible. Huge thank you to VFlip for his helmet tape file. Here's our WIP:
